    Hell ya!!

I didn't get to see them last time around with Snakes and Arrows. Maybe Ill get lucky this time. 26 songs...still not enough considering their large catalog. Seems like theyre playing more of their mid-70s and newer stuff rather than than their 80s material which Im more of a fan of. Oh well, its freakin' Rush!

With only two sets and just 26 songs, I'd imagine they'll play the whole song.

The funny thing is, alot of metal bands from the 80s on got alot of inspiration from Rush, who took part in inventing metal as we know today.

allways thought Rush was more of the evolution of the prog rock of the early 70s. Bands like Emerson Lake & Palmer, Yes, Genesis, etc. Like fusion bands (Dregs, Jeff Beck, etc) I think their early fanbase was made up of musicians and people that were fans of musical virtuosity. They were kind of a band's band so to speak. Especially if you were a drummer. Neal Pert had an amazing following amongst drummers. Easily top 3 at the time. As for metal, its hard to see really. Maybe amongst the prog metal bands currently in vogue or in the constant time changes but it would seem that classical music had the biggest influence on the genre

When they first came out they were metal bro. You have to remember, this was the mid-70's!

Think about how music was then, and tell me these two songs can't be considered metal.

i guess it would be an interesting debate as to where heavy rock ends and metal begins. I kind of put Judas Priest as the first heavy metal band where some people have Sabbath or even Zeppelin as metal. Rush like Thin Lizzy had individual songs that were a precursor to heavy metal but their overall library would probably have to be put in the heavy rock category IMO. The earliest heavy rock band I ever heard where I could hear the early influences of metal was Sir Lord Baltimore but I would still put them in the heavy rock category. Check this out and keep in mind this is from 1968

Bro that was the Hemispheres tour. They didn't play Nassau until that tour. The Good Rats opened that show. I was there too. Sorry for being picky....just being a Rush nut. :tongue2:

They didn't play the NY area at all on the 2112 tour, and closest they came to LI was the Palladium on 14th Street in Manhattan for the "All The World's A Stage" tour with Foghat and "Farewell To Kings" tour with UFO and Cheap Trick. I was at both those shows. Amazing.

They played the Palladium again on the "Hemispheres" tour with Starz, then started breaking big and came back around the area and hit Nassau.

Man those were some amazing shows.
