Game was great up until the 4th..... I never seen such blatant favoritism in a game before? I thought Game 1 was bad holy **** this game was ATROCIOUS. Hard to believe any Laker fan justify that game.
Pretty much the way I feel about it. I think every major sports organization is rigged to some degree. But I watch anyways because there are moments of authenticity that are worth watching.
No one on the Lakers looks enthusiastic about winning it. They almost look like they knew they were gonna win, and I dont mean that in a "inspiring" way.
I hate talking bad about Kobe Bryant... because deep down I love him sincerely and would gladly allow him to have sex with my baby mother... but something about tonight's game really pissed me off.
No one can take away our 2006 Championship, but part of me feels guilty because we kind of sold out to get that championship, we practically bought it and Stern realized Wade could be a megastar. Im not saying our title was rigged, as a Heat homer, but it makes me wonder.
Kobe was terrible. TERRIBLE. Please...let's end this "closer" crap. PLEASE. He has played in 7 Finals and has really earned ONE MVP. This one was a joke. But for the game...yes they got some calls..but the CELTICS WERE FOULING. They coughed up that lead. The celtics have nobody to blame but themselves. They shot like ****. It is going to be sweet when Dwyane Wade makes mince meet out of "The closer" in the very near future. it is now up to Riley to give D-Wade the pieces so he can show Kobe what BALLS look like in an NBA finals. Hey..I said it before the game...."it was over"...unless....Kobe choked it up. Well he did..and they still won. The Celtics can blame themselves. NOT the refs. The BETTER TEAM won. They rebounded...The Celtics didn't. END of story.
I dislike Kobe as a player, but I still think he's the best player since Jordan and obviously deserves alot of credit. Its just the way the NBA operates, its not Bryant's fault. Or Wade's for that matter.
When the odds are against you, you still need to perform and show results. The Celts lost this game with the help of the refs. I think thats pretty fair.
I love Kobe Bryant the player, person, and LEGEND. BUT this one right here... he simply does not deserve. It goes beyond getting the calls. Every superstar gets the calls. This was simply Kobe's worst performance I've seen in a game that matters since he was out there playing by himself, with an inconsistent Odom and limping oft-injured Caron Butler with Kwame Brown at C.
I don't think you watched the 4th QT. Because if you did no way you could say this. The Refs bailed out the Lakers plain and simple. Game was fine up until the 4th.
This is fair. The officiating was bad down the stretch, but the Celtics REALLY blew this game more than anything. More than the refs handing it to the Lakers, and more than the LAKERS TAKING IT FROM BOSTON. Boston absolutely blew this game, and as I mentioned before... that entire basketball team should be the NBA Finals MVP.
Not "rigged" as much as the NBA, the Refs have the largest role in the NBA of any sports league, in the NFL a foul does not mean a chance to score, in the NHL only a few fouls offer that, in MLB there is no such option for scoring via penalty. That is why those who take the NBA seriously kinda have my sympathies, you care about a game that is not run by players on the floor, it is also run by Referees, they can decide outcomes, scoring, tone of play, and yet people still care about this stuff. Watch wrestling, less stressful.
I MUST SAY THIS THOUGH... The momentum shifting sequence in this game: Celtics up three in the fourth quarter, Garnett blocks Gasol's shot and there's a scramble for the ball. Gasol is LAYING OUT OF BOUNDS AND TOUCHES THE BALL SEVERAL TIMES... what happens? Ball rewarded to Lakers and Derek Fisher hits the three that ignites the 9-0 Lakers run to close out.
Kinda hard to take back the game when Lakers are allowed to mug you on the other end while they get the whistle on command down the other end.
The Refs wouldn't have saved the Lakers if the Celtics would not have choked. and again..there was like two questionable calls....the rest were fouls. Guys...I had money on the series...it is not like I am not Biased. I was rooting for the C's. They ****ED UP in the 4th. They flat out blew it. Ray Allen was garbage. Rondo can;t shoot..Pierce was okay..and Garnett played well. Sheed contributed. BUT WHO made a PLAY down the stretch?
I'm with Buckeye. The refs didn't blow this game for the Celtics, but they defenitely didn't help. I honestly don't know why I still watch the NBA.
If you read what Tim Donaguey says about how they calls games, its make perfect sense. Its common practice. Dont call a foul by Team A until theyre up by a certain amount, then call fouls to even the score, then let the teams play for a while, then when down the stretch make calls that setup the final 2 minutes of play so the outcome can be controlled. That said, it doesnt always work, Im sure refs have lost money on certain games when things didnt work out as planned. Its not foolproof system but it does work.
Heat fans...go back to game 6 in 06'. Mavs cut it to 3 in the 3rd...Toine takes it coast to coast...and gets the and 1...ZO flies in for a block when the Mavs go on a break down 4.... Posey hits a 3 with the Heat up 3 to make it 6... Haslem grabs a loose ball to put it in to put us up 4... Payton forces a steal with the heat up 4..... Posey steals a pass with the Mavs cutting the lead to 4. And all of that happened in the 4th..and I did not mention Wade. You gotta make plays...not watch the clock and hope that it moves faster.
Well...that was obvious. You have a bunch of media jagoffs voting. it is not like they watch the games.
yeah i saw that too..also that and 1 artest had on pierce didnt look like much of a foul..or if it is they hadn't been calling it
The Refs didn't give the Lakers a 897 rebound advantage. BTW...no mention of the Muggings the Refs allowed the Celtics to get away with in the first half? The best team in the NBA won the championship.
i used to love it. now i dont watch a single regular season game. i watch the playoffs toward the end. i actually found myself losing interest tonight in the 4th quarter. the game as it is makes little sense. there is very little flow to the game. whatever happens from one point in the game to another arent connected. its seeming more like entertainment than sport. thing is, its actually less entertaining
the double technical? where artest locked up pierce's arm and was attempting a slow motion take down? what a bunch of garbage
Do like I've been doing and you'll slowly begin to lose interest... pick another sport, another league. Get into it. I've always been into soccer and I've played it consistently all my life. But I'm not becoming a fanatic as a viewer. The only thing that keeps my interest in the NBA is free agency 2010. If the Heat flop I might just become a casual viewer. If Wade leaves I vow to never watch another NBA game as long as I live. Both are unlikely, but still...
BTW...aren't you guys Football fans? NBA refs are a joke...but the phantom holding call that kills a drive isn't? The NFL is just as big a joke...they just have better PR. Wasn't it during the 18-1 year that the Patriots did not have a holding penalty called on them for 14 consecutive weeks? come on.
..Or the NBA is THAT predictable, this wasn't so much a Game 7 as it was a media event: Siena v Edge, come one come all, btw Siena, what is your belt size again?
I really want to get into it. I'm going to give it a legit shot next season for the first time in my life. I get offered free Panthers tickets on a weekly basis and never take them.
