I think that Pingalore guy was a Cavs beat writer before coming to Orlando so he "might" still have people he knows with the Cavs.

Pretty confident that we're going to be getting a big time big man and one of the top tier small forwards on the free agent market...

Hopefully Bron comes down here where the guy (also possible coach) upstairs knows the championship recipe. There's really no hope of that in NY or even Cleveland.

And if LeBron is secured, Bosh/Stoudamire is guaranteed.

It's going to come down to Bosh or Stoudamire. I'll take either one.

Amare officially opting out of his final year of his deal (passing on 17M) and asking phoenix for the max 6/127M. Will be interesting to see what happens there.

Parker to the Knicks rumors heating back up....Although the Spurs are downplaying trade rumors involving Tony Parker, sources tell Newsday that they are "clearly ready to consider moves."
The Knicks are widely expected to be major players for Parker's services, possibly even offering David Lee in a sign-and-trade deal. That would still leave them with enough cap space to add a free agent like Carlos Boozer in addition to restricted free agent Rudy Gay. Meanwhile, Dynasty leaguers should be all over George Hill right now.

Hmmm... I wonder what number Amare is going to wear if Dorell returns. Will they open up Shaq's 32 (his old number) for him?

This is probably a stupid question but:

how does one read a twitter page? It just looks like text with a bunch of links...

The text with links is the stuff Wade is typing. He's highlighting some event and spamming it on his page. Scroll down for less event spam and more semi-conversational stuff... though good luck deciphering the tweets. Twitter features text message shorthand gone berserk.

    Pretty cool stuff....

The Miami Heat is a GRADE A First class organization....

They threw UD a surprise B-day party:

Now...and Editorial: I fear that Orlando will grow a brain in about 25 days and offer UD the full MLE and if we are going the BIG three route..it will be too much to handle. (This year)

Will UD take a One Year deal with a promise to be redone the next?

That is a blatant plea for UD to turn down millions for a home town discount + run at a title.

    I hope he's with it.

On the flip side I also fear a SVG/UD reunion. Aside from staying with Miami, nothing else makes more sense for both parties. In fact, it may suit him more to sign with Orlando than to stay here as a reserve for less money. He probably starts next to Dwight, with a starting 5 of Nelson-VC-Lewis-UD-Dwight. That is a damn good line up. He'd bring so much to that basketball team... another tough defender in the paint, as well as a guy who can grab whatever boards Dwight misses, in addition to his sometimes automatic 15 footer. Plus, he'd be leaving "home" but only 3-4 hours away. I fear the possibility... and it's a very logical situation.

We could REALLY use UD's toughness behind Amare, errrrr (Jay Fiedler annoying *** voice), Bosh/Amare/Booz.

This is refreshing to me after hearing that Amare is most likely "the guy" due to our top targets (LeBron and Bosh) staying put and/or going elsewhere. Not that I would be disappointing in Amare, but I'd really prefer Bosh due to youth + not having banged knees.

    Still think it's simple:

If LeBron comes to Miami, then Bosh is going to be begging for a way to join in.
If LeBron goes to Chicago, then the Bosh sign-and-trade talks begin.
If LeBron goes to New York, then Bosh signs outright with him.
If LeBron stays in Cleveland, then Bosh hops on with the next best in Wade and signs with Miami.

LeBron James dictates everything for the Miami Heat. And I don't particularly like that at all. IMO, forget about LeBron. Time to jump on Bosh and convince him that Wade would be a better teammate for him, and that we'd be able to get a third player (ala Gay, Johnson, Salmons, Haywood or another player via Beasley trade) to become even more competitive. If the "King" really wants to be here then he will.

Right now it's about building a better team than Orlando, or LBJ/Rose/Noah.

BUT.... this is a brilliant pitch if Wade is there to convince Bosh to commit even before LeBron makes a decision. That puts LeBron James in an ugly hole. To me, he obviously doesn't care about potentially playing with Amare for whatever reason; he always mentions Wade, Bosh, and Joe Johnson only. Not only that, but Cleveland had a deal for Amare on the table at the deadline and pulled back because it didn't want to give up J.J. Hickson. Do you think that if LeBron really wanted Amare, they'd hold off for J.J. Hickson? No. He was equally as fine with Jamison + keeping Hickson as he was with Amare, which says a lot to me. If not Amare, then I'm sure he wouldn't care much to partner up with Boozer. If he's in a situation where he hasn't made a decision yet and Wade/Bosh is already a pair, then he may be forced to just stay in Cleveland or head to Chicago solo.

Unless of course, these guys are already aware that LeBron James is staying in Cleveland. Who knows. I do believe that Wade will be one of the first people to know of LeBron's decision when it comes, if it hasn't already.

    .......my head hurts again.

Don't think too hard about it. These decisions are usually pretty simple for the athletes, at least that's what they always say.

If LeBron wants the most money, he stays in Cleveland. If he wants to win, he comes to Miami. That's pretty much it.

He can win in Chicago or New York with the right pieces, too.

It's logical to choose Miami in terms of wanting to win, but there are other ways.

The Knicks won't win anything for a generation.

Well, LeBron could make it to the ECF in Chicago, but he's not winning a title there. The Baby Bulls won't put him over the top. And even if Bosh joins LeBron in New York, are they really guaranteed to trump the Wade-Amare-Rudy pairing in Miami? Heck, they'd have a hard time with Orlando.

see that's just pure haterade there dude. If lebron and bosh come to ny and the curry + Wilson chandler for parker goes down as rumored that's a team winning at least one championship. And probably facing the heat in many ecf matchups

If LeBron and Bosh come to New York, they spend the next six years bouncing off the Heat like bullets off Superman. The last time both the Heat and Knicks were good, they had a great rivalry and zero titles between them. That exact same scenario will play out again. Both teams will beat each other up, and then another team like Orlando will swoop in and scavenge their remains in a 6 game series.

eh I think if things go as planned for both sides we spend the next six years much like the lakes and spurs did in the early 2000's....winner of that series is winning the title. Talent overrides almost everything in the nba so unless something goes drastically wrong in terms of chemistry, injury, or coaching I can't see another team except maybe lal in the discussion.

Talent trumps everything but the refs, absolutely. But the talent needs to be in good condition, and grueling 7-game series against equally talented teams can suck the wind out of a team's sails.

Main point is, if LeBron wants a title, Miami is his best chance. Not the Knicks or Bulls. And if he stays in Cleveland, then the words "Cleveland" and "championship" will have to wait for the next time the Browns win a game.

Definitely happened last summer... haven't heard of anything since.

I doubt it happens before July if it does. LeBron's not going to get caught up in the early mix, IMO. He knows the cameras are following him everywhere and any little thing they pick up will be all of the media.

I'm kind of hoping for LeBron to go to New York with say, Carlos Boozer... and Bosh and another player to come to Miami. I actually want to see the Knicks do something significant, of course after Miami. I would love to see Miami/New York ECF for the next 3-5 years. Easily one of my favorite rivalries growing up...

That's not the rumor I read. Why would they take Curry at $12 million next year? Doesn't make sense. Chandler isn't nearly good enough to sacrifice. The report I read stated that San Antonio would be interested in David Lee via sign-and-trade, thus exceeding New York's total salary around $31-32 million (taking on Parker for Lee in sign-and-trade). The Knicks would then only have enough cap space to sign one max free agent, as well as another player around mid level money.

Why would any top notch free agent be enticed with joining Tony Parker over Wade (MIA), Rose/Noah (CHI), Lopez/Harris/Turner (NJ), or that core already set up in LAC? Wouldn't make sense. Even playing with young Tyreke Evans in Sacramento would be more appealing.

Knicks would end up with Tony Parker + leftover max free agent that other teams didn't want (likewise, Boozer).

Sorry, but not winning with Duncan/Ginobili/Parker... not winning with Parker/Boozer.

So as long as the Heat have the odds stacked in their favor you dont mind the Knicks being ok? Eh, I guess thats kinda how I feel about the Heat

There's been multiple variations of the Parker to the Knicks deal. But the Lee scenario doesnt work because like you said the Knicks wouldnt have cap room to sign two max players. The concept that does work is Curry's 12M expiring + a young talent like Chandler. Chandler makes Jefferson expendable for the Spurs next year and they'd knock 27M off their books for the 2011 FA class between Curry and RJ. They could retool on the fly with Duncan and Ginobli already in place. For the Knicks it makes sense because you could then sign 2 Max FA's while having parker and Gallo in place already and assuming they get Lebron Chandler would have nowhere to play anyway. Thats why it makes sense.

I don't think so. That team would make a couple of ECF runs and maybe a Finals appearance, but I think it's missing something that would put it over the top. It would be the new Cleveland: star power, but not quite championship caliber.

Switch out Bosh for Amare and I think that team you proposed could win a title. If you keep Bosh there, swap Salmons for Gay. My real issue is that I think Bosh would be content to get that mega-contract and would disappear. I think Amare is more of a competitor and a better fit. To me, Wade/Amare is better than Wade/Bosh.

I hope I'm wrong about Bosh, though.

not sure why he would do that, because i think this last year of his contract paid him around $10 million. if he's available, I'd love for the heat to sign him. the junior max might be a bit much for somebody who's so injury prone, but he would be the perfect complement to bosh.

he's probably looking for added years more than money, considering his reoccurring back injury is such a red flag. either that, or he's afraid of next year's cba.
