I think if he had been involved in one incident it would be unintentional. I think two means he was at the least being more physical then usual.
I don't think it would have mattered. Celtics have looked slow last two games. Late on their rotations defensively.
Absolutely. Without a doubt. I watch TOO Much NBA. (Some people think I am weird in that way) I pick some teams before the season to follow..along with the Heat. Orlando made the cut this year along with Portland, Memphis, and the Lakers. Dwight Howard does this from time to time. Whenever he feels that he has been fouled excessively or Manhandled by a certain player...he waits them out and then gives them a cheap shot the next time they play. I will give him credit though..he only tries to punk Power Forwards and Centers..while other players (cough cough..garnett) likes to pick on smaller guys. But again...there is "physical" play....but what Howard did was going a little too far. he was dancing on the "dirty" line.
Well, if it was intentional... I am REALLY impressed. B/c, he did it in a way where no one could accuse him (with a flagrant/suspension/etc) of doing it intentionally, b/c he wasnt looking anywhere near the direction of Davis, and hit him dead square on the nose. Now THAT is talent! lol Not to mention, if it was intentional, thats the smartest way to impose yourself and intimidate... while not getting yourself in trouble. As I'm typing this though, the highlight came on ESPN again and just watched it again, and I dont see how he could have pulled that off intentionally.
There's no way that elbow to Big Baby was intentional. He was coming down in traffic and just so happened Davis was in his arms path. Dwight has a reputation for his elbow but it's usually his right one. Well, keep in mind he broke Courtney Lee's face last year too on the same exact type of situation... and that was his own teammate. He nails his own teammates a good amount too, lol So, I think these things just happen with the guy. Hes powerful as hell, and if his elbow connects with a person's face... they are going to get ****ed up, lol.
Magic fans are hilarious, calling people "haters".... how delusional could a fan base possibly be? I'm sorry, but look around the internet. Go to some general basketball boards like RealGM. 29/30 fan bases are absolutely disgusted with how last night's game went, and completely credit the refs for victory. They controlled the ENTIRE pace of the game last night. I've NEVER seen anything like it and I've watched many Michael Jordan games. I'm the biggest ref basher you'll ever find, and for me to side with a BOSTON TEAM in terms of OFFICIATING clearly says something.
Also, Dwight Howard is a douche... stop defending him. He throws around that elbow without care all the time. Malicious or not, he's very careless when it comes to the use of his (huge) elbows. I'd really love to see someone elbow him intentionally and knock his *** out. I used to be a fan, but I won't become a fan again until he's rightfully elbowed back and the score is even. I hate guys who come down with rebounds swinging their elbows left and right. It should be an automatic tech. If Orlando wins Game 6 and goes onto "make history" with the help of Joey Crawford and his A-Team it will be depressing for the NBA because of how they got there. However, if Boston wins I really hope it's not a good game. I hate that city and their fans, but I want to see them win that game by AT LEAST 20. Actually, I'd kind of like to see Orlando win Game 6 and Boston win the series up in Orlando in Game 7 on their floor.
This isn't about the Magic, or about the refs (who were terrible last night) Its about the Celtics. They've played the last two games like they played all regular season. They've looked a step too slow, and lethargic. To be honest, it looks like Garnett's knee is bothering him a lot at this point. If the Celtics bring their A-game in game 6, the series is over. But if they don't, the Magic have a shot.
Because they are by far the better basketball team. And they better, because aside from Magic (and Lakers) fans, no one wants to see an LAL/ORL Finals where the outcome would be obvious before it even starts. On second thought I think Section and the other sports betters on here would love it, as it would be so easy to gamble on.
Now come on. Dwight may hand out some abuse... but the guy also takes more physical abuse than anyone else in the league. I mean, just earlier in this series in game 1 and 2... the Celtics were allowed to absolutely pound on him. I agree the calls went in favor of the Magic last night... but like you've said... the Magic getting calls over the Celtics is FAR from the norm. For the most part... teams are allowed to beat the crap out of Howard... which is what frustrates him so much... and probably leads to him dishing it back.
I'm pulling for a Suns/Magic Finals. Now THAT would be some entertaining basketball... although everyone will ***** about "ratings" since neither LA or Boston is in it. Personally, I dont give a **** about who else would be watching it... b/c I know I'd be glued to that series.
Up until last night this has easily been the most evenly called series I've seen in years. Bad calls of course, but there have been bad calls equally on both sides. Last night was horrendous, though. If there's a clear and obvious fix in place for Game 6 in Boston's favor it's well deserved and as a fan of neither team I would not be mad. NBA = WWF (or whatever it's called now) though. It's the most referee dictated league in sports. MLB is rigged by player cheating, but the NBA is quite obviously favored when it comes to the calls and it's always been that way. September couldn't get here soon enough.
Two teams that have no business playing in the NBA Finals... I'll pass. If I was a Magic fan I'd be pulling for that, too, though as they'd have no shot against LAL.
I really have trouble buying into the whole "rigging" thing. But if you honestly feel that way... why do you follow the league so closely?
So, the Suns and Magic arent 2 of the better teams in the league? When you say they have no business... you make it sound like the teams are scrubs. The Magic and Suns are fantastic teams... and the worst you could rank them would be 3rd and 4th in the league... but still in the top tier of teams in the league. I mean, the Magic went to the Finals last year, and are in the conference finals this year. They absolutely have business playing in the NBA Finals.
I couldn't have said it better than this. Dwight takes a pounding and it's as if the refs are ok with letting players play him more physically than any other person in the league. And when Howard tries to fight back he usually ends up with the foul. There is no happy medium there. I hope the Celtics bring their A-game as well, the Magic are just as good or better than the Celtics. The first 3 games Dwight Howard and Rashard have been sick. They are getting healthy now and this is the result. Rashard even said so himself as did Dwight. Gonna be a tough game up in Boston, I think both teams will come out physical, and which teams keeps the cooler heads is the team that is going to prevail and be in the finals.
More so favored than rigged... but I'm locked in. I've watched the NBA all my life and not only am I a die hard Heat fan, but I'm a die hard fan of the game. I can't just stop watching it. Wish it was that easy because year after year I'm disgusted watching the playoffs... thought that would end this year with LeBron being eliminated in the semi's, but it clearly hasn't.
I'd say the Magic are a top 5 team, but I definitely don't put anything into this fluke run by the Suns. They're hot at the right time, but I've never bought into that basketball team. Truly believe that when healthy, LAL, BOS, ORL, CLE, DAL, and DEN are all better basketball teams. Playoffs are all about matchups. That Cleveland team that won the East in 2007 was not top 5 in my book. It's really not about how far you get....
Rashard Lewis is perhaps the biggest joke in the NBA. Don't make excuses for him. The same goes for Dwight aside from the "joke" part. Paul Pierce was "tired" at the end of Game 4... perhaps he won't be "tired" in Game 6 so Boston will be able to close out? No offense but that's exactly how this one sounds.
Donaghy: Refs favoring Magic http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/this-just-in/2121995/donaghy-dc-refs-favoring-magic
Donaghy >>>>>>>>>> Say what you want about the guy but he's called how some of these games would be officiated before the start of it, just by looking at the list of officials for specific games. He's obviously scum and a rat, but he also knows scum/rat when he sees it because of the scheme he was involved in himself... I've been monitoring his comments pre-game this entire postseason and he's been spot on. BTW I'd take Donaghy over Joey Crawford any day of the week if it comes down to officiating Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Crawford is the biggest scum in all of professional sports. He's a hot headed tool and a piece of garbage. He takes player reactions/comments personal and abuses power on the norm to show it. You saw a bit of that last night. Actually, you saw a lot of it. I'm not even talking about Perkins. I'm more so referring to the Tony Allen tech which was an embarrassment on the league's part.
Fair enough. I do agree that the Magic have more business in playing in the Finals than the Suns. But the Magic absolutely have plenty of business playing in the Finals if they actually make it there. On the flip side, I'm not nearly as sold on the Celtics as I think you are. I think they are a very good team... but they werent overly impressive during the regular season... and outside of that 6 game winning streak they put against the Cavs/Magic... I havent been in awe of their team. They looked fantastic during that 6 game run, no doubt. But its a pretty small sample size IMO... at least too small for me to anoint them. I mean, our Heat are a pretty weak team, and even we fought them pretty tough. The past 2 games by Boston have been more reflective of the "norm" for them this season than that 6 game stretch IMO.
I get it, you're a closet Lakers fan, or perhaps a Boston fan. You absolutely hate Dwight Howard. You think Rashard Lewis is the joke of the NBA. You couldn't be a bigger hater man. Don't hate, appreciate. The Magic are a solid basketball team. You can't give credit where credit is due. Just say it, the Magic are good. They won up in Boston where Boston could've put the series away. They came back home and won handedly. So where does the respect come in for the Magic? Your comments are a joke.
Get the **** out of here with that garbage. 1. I'm a Heat fan. 2. Yes, I am a Kobe Bryant fan. But a closet Lakers fan? Laughable. 3. I hate Boston sports with a passion. 4. I've called Orlando a GREAT TEAM all season long. 5. Who doesn't think Rashard Lewis is a joke? The guy is making 20+ million bucks to play inconsistent (at best) basketball. What are you, kidding me or something? I've seen Magic fans call this clown a joke on a regular basis. Get over yourself, dude... don't be mad. The entire NBA fan base aside from Magic fans are making the same such comments as me today. Go look around and find yourself a clue before you come at me with some garbage like that. YOU are a joke.
OH so now you want to come with a personal attack. Real respectable. You're comments were a joke. You've not said one good thing about the Magic in the past 10 pages. I think one needs to have a closer look in the mirror before throwing stones in a glass house.
It's a shame Ryan Leaf didn't have the flu his entire NFL career. If not for him being "sick" he'd of been one of the greatest QB's of all time.
Where do you see a personal attack? Don't come at me and not expect to get dished back even worse. That's how it goes. And if you haven't noticed, aside from Magic fans, everyone is bashing the same thing I'm bashing... again, get over yourself.
Really sad on your part if you take that as a personal attack. I guess I can claim it a personal attack because you called me a "hater" rather than simply commenting on my posts. Man up. The entire league of fans were raised to hate the Boston Celtics and they're all siding with Boston in this one. You're obviously upset.
Very laughable. I mean it's obvious you hate the Orlando Magic. You'll never admit that they are just as talented as the Celtics. I mean come on, every time i go back to read your comments on previous pages its understandable to me now that you are pulling for the Celtics to win and are watching not unbiased, but as a fan of the Celtics. You thought the finals would consist of the Lakers and the Celtics, though it still might happen. But its just laughable that you deny being a hater when in fact you said so yourself here. Hater isn't a personal attack its truth, and for you to call me a joke is without merit. I'm a Magic fan, sorry your Heat have failed this year. To consisitantly sit there and bash the Magic for me as a fan isn't going to sit well. You can keep trying to 1 up me, but it's just not going to happen because you're a hater.
Damn, this thread makes me feel like a Hurricanes fan on a Gators board. Can't wait for all the pats on the back for the Celtics if they win this series, or sympathy if they lose.
By the way, as someone brought up on RealGM... Dwight and VC have received tech fouls very similar to Perkins' 2nd tech. Not looking at the ref or walking away, and receiving them. Now, Perkins shouldnt have got it b/c it was his 2nd tech... but as far as the techs themselves, they were very similar...
Seriously... I'm just going to Colin Powell all of your posts. They're pointless for me to waste time reading and discussing. I know that I can have discussions with Magic fans like FinNasty and a few others, and that's where it will start and end for me. Not going to waste my team continuing this nonsense with you because it isn't going to get anywhere for either of us. I said my piece on the "topic" already. You're a joke bro. You mad? That's not a personal attack by the way, it's the TRUTH! (So I lied, I did read but lol'ed all the way through)
