ESPN’s public relations staff has released comprehensive details regarding the multi-format Cecil B. DeMille production that will be used to cover the NFL draft later this month.

The most glaring absences from the cast of dozens? Emmitt Smith and Tony Kornheiser.

Everyone else is involved. Chris “What the F–k Do They Think I’m Doing?” Berman, Mel ”Mr. Irrelevant Used To Only Mean The Last Guy Picked” Kiper, Keyshawn “Am I Eligible To Be Drafted?” Johnson, Steve “I’ve Got Some New Plastic Surgery That Makes Me Look Even More Like Mr. Spock” Young, and Chris “The Texans Will Definitely Draft Reggie Bush, No Matter What Anyone Says” Mortensen will be working the grown-ups’ table.

Mike “They Let Me Do The Masters Only Because I’m White” Tirico, Ron “Cheating In The Super Bowl Is Okay As Long As Tom Brady and Beel Beeelichick Come To The Maxwell Club Dinner” Jaworski, and Kirk “Thank God I Don’t Have To Work With Corso For A Change” Herbstreit will providee “on-site commentary,” while Suzy “Having A Baby Will Only Make Me More Annoyingly Perky” Kolber conducts those green-room “how are you feeling?” interviews with any of the schmoes who show up for the draft and do a Rodgers-Quinn free-fall.

Well, they are on the right track. About 7 more they need to omit before I even begin to think about taking it off MUTE.

I like Kornheiser. I think he is funny at these things in the way that Jeff Van Gundy is funny during NBA broadcasts. They are loud obnoxious guys who aren't really taking themselves seriously at all. The people who get mad at them end up showing how they aren't in on the joke in my opinion.

Emmitt Smith or "Smiff" as he would say, is a welcomed omission. He doesn't bring much of anything to the table. I also wouldn't mind seeing Keyshawn off the show as well. He is a bright guy, but very smug and seems to disagree with others just for the sake of doing that. Guarenteed he loves every pick the Dolphins make though...

Well at least they've dropped Kornheiser. I can't stand that guy. I can tolerate him on PTI, but on MNF and anywhere else... No thanks. He's clueless

Kiper's the only reason I may still watch ESPn. That guy knows the scouting report on everyone from Round 1 to Round 7. I don't pay attention to his mock or where guys should go, but he provides some insight into picks of players I've never even heard of.

The only one I can't deal with on ESPN is Meryl "Factor Back" Hodge, hes just a complete idiot. I'm not sure what people's deal is with Mel, guess the Brady Quinn thing is still in people's minds? Kiper pretty much invented the modern draft coverage and helped turn it into the event we all love to watch. I don't take his word as gospel but he's done a lot for draft coverage, I respect the guy and don't get the hate.

Agree completely. I'll be catching this in HD on NFL Network. I used to watch ESPN, but it makes sense to me to watch the draft on the league's channel - there's something more pure about it that way.
