we were told he was traded because he played the same position as the big #1 we traded for. you can't have it both ways now i agree he could have been used in other ways
I doubt there's anybody in the league who thought of Ginn as a #1 WR or even a potential #1 WR. I'll chock that explanation up to the team just paying him lip service.
I'm definitely not in that camp. I have never in my life seen a WR look so inept catching the ball as he has. Not to mention consistently running out of bounds, scared to go over the middle, just scared to play pro football. And on top of that a guy with a "learning disability" who professed that he had to work on his hand-eye coordination over the summer. Simply amazing. Good luck SF, I'm happy as hell that he's gone. I agree JD, Ive said before may times, he's one of the most overrated players in the game....people think he has a great arm...i think his arm strength is suspect....when revis shutdown his side of the field and the jets brought pressure, his lack of what I call "arm athleticism" failed him big time..Imo, he was exposed in the game to a degree, something ive been writing about for years.
Iam not sure we can properly quantify how the negatives in Teds game affected our team's pshyche, performance and results, however i saw enough, and felt enough in my gut, where iam not gonna look back with any regret..We gave the player enough time to make an impact on our team, and to me, the neg's outweighed the positives...Personally, i had us picking ted ginn in the draft, so I was a fan, "was" being the key word...I believe we gave him every chance to suceed, so I dont feel bad, and I wont feel regret if he does well in San fran....I believe he will continue to struggle because his flaws are not mental per say, they are physical {strength, frailty} that result into mental flaws, combining his problems..boy can't beat the Jam. There is a picture of him wearing a tshirt that reads " FU#K HUMBLE" on the front..once I saw that, to me, he has no good karma coming his way when he plays against us...
You choose to only remember the bad plays because you have allowed yourself to develop an emotional hatred towards a player. It blocks your ability to appreciate or acknowledge the good he did for our team. You can try and flip it and say I developed the opposite emotional attachment to Ted Ginn, but I can assure you that's not true. I was never a fan of the Ginn pick, but I supported him as a Dolphin. I stayed out of the non-stop Ginn debates for the most part. I tried to stay as objective about Ted Ginn as a Dolphin fan can be about any player, and I saw a player who despite never living up to his draft status occasionally made some spectacular plays. I saw a player who helped us win more games than he cost us. Ah, the memories: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwF8Gz_3VNQ"]YouTube- Ted Ginn Jr Returns Two Kickoffs vs Jets[/ame]
Ah, one game in three years. How sweet. Think he can do that again for us this year? Oh yeah, my bad- we dumped him on San Francisco for a 5th rounder. Gee, I wonder why.
You prove your hatred further. You see highlights for one game, so you think it was only one game. Your hatred prevents you from remembering the rest. You forget about the Buffalo Game. 7 receptions for 175 yards. Or the last Jets game of 2008. A 27 yard TD reception and a huge catch on 3rd down that kept the game clinching drive alive. Or the first Jets game of 2009. Or big TDs in the Seahawks and Kansas City games. Games that were one by less than a score. There were more big plays besides these, but I hope you get the point. I'm not trying to say Ginn was a great football player for us. He took a big step back in 2009 in the receiving game. And yes, we did dump him for a 5th rounder. But neither you nor I know whether that will end up being a good or bad move. Only time will tell. I would argue that the only thing that has to happen for it to be a bad move is for Ginn to continue to be an effective kick returner and Nolan Carroll to not make an impact in any way shape or form. Odds of that happening are better than average. But right now the only thing I take issue with is you and others rewriting Ginn's history as a Miami Dolphin. If we want to discuss his days as a Dolphin we should consider both the good and bad. There was plenty of both in my estimation.
Ginn just wasn't very good. Period. He had his moments, but they were few and far between. Maybe the light will go on, who knows- looks like it might have for Devin Aroshamadu (sp) in Chicago. When I started this thread I was thinking to myself how great it was to land a dominant, productive alpha male WR in Marshall and also to get some form of compensation for Ginn, whom I was convinced was done in Miami, one way or another. I don't have any particular dislike of Ginn other than his frustrating, passive and largely unproductive play on the field. It's just my opinion. This wasn't intended to be a bash Ginn thread- as the title suggests it's about the promise of having Marshall in a Dolphins uniform, playing a role that the team was desperately lacking. End of story. There are any number of other Ginn threads around if you want to indulge in rehashing Ginn's pedestrian career. I'd rather that this one stay about Marshall if possible- Ginn is no longer a Dolphin, and a debate over the quality of his career seems both boring and pointless. Feel free to continue the crapfest on a thread not started by me, if you would.
YOU turned this into a Ginn thread. My first reply to your thread was on topic to a quote you posted in your original message - Notice I didn't mention Ginn once. But you were so raring and ready to go with your Ginn bashing you jumped right into it. Your response - So if you want to quit with the Ginn talk, then follow your own advice and don't bring him up in your own thread. Don't accuse others of starting the fire you lit. And if you want to drag his name through the mud there are those of us here who will remind you that Ginn wasn't all bad. "Nuff said."
Check your reading skills there mister blitz. I didn't refer to who started with the Ginn comments nor did I accuse you of that. The Ginn comments are nothing more than a side issue in the context of how wonderful it is to get Brandon Marshall- I referred to your annoying extension of the Ginn discussion, which you seem intent on doing. Look at the original post- Ginn out/Marshall in- how sweet it is. Ginn is a side issue, a bad memory in a rear view mirror. So again, I ask you to drag the Ginn comments on to a thread that I didn't start, because I'm not interested. And yes, Ted Ginn did suck wang- if you have a problem with that opinion get in contact with someone who cares. If that wasn't clear enough, try this- I'm not interested in your opinions on the matter, please stay off of this thread that I started.
Not interested in Ginn? Then, again, why did you mention him in a reply to my post where I didn't mention his name? You were interested enough to refer to him as a Cancer. For the record, I will stay out of this thread, because of the quality of your posts and your baseless accusations, not because you asked. You have 0 authority on this forum to tell me which threads I may or may not participate in.
Which is why I asked nicely. Thank you for choosing to spout your Ginn drivel elsewhere. And again, please work on the reading comprehension skills- I asked you politely, I didn't "tell" you to not participate in the thread. I'm done with this. Responding to your posts is a waste of my time, my fault for engaging. You're going on ignore, please do the same to me. One last thought- the notion of your commenting on the quality of my posts is comical, to say the least.
