He's game to game from what I've heard but who knows. You know not a single team in the league is telling the truth about any injury.

So true....I know it because of my level of hatred towards him....LOL! The guy is their grit.

I'd agree with you about Price if it was any other team but the Habs seem to have young goalies carry them as you know (Dryden, Steve Penney, Pat).

I feel ashamed though, I'm lost on the draft this year. I paid so much attention to my Bruins a the pathetic football team we all love that I don't think I've watched more then 5 consecutive minutes of Junior hockey all year.

they sure did. they definately outplayed the sens tonight thats for sure. Whats even better? Fleury looked real strong in net too. If tonight was any indication of how this series will go... Ottawa is in big trouble.

Yeah they took us out the woodshed tonight. And to make matters worse Volchenkov takes a puck off the face. Now we're down 4 big pieces of the puzzle.
It could get ugly.

Local radio here is saying it got him right in the visor. The viso shattered and he was cut pretty good. Might play tomorrow night. The radio said if he wasn't wearing a visor it would've got right between the eyes.

You're right, it was tough to watch. Up here Hockey Night in Canada must of shown 6-8 times......it made me cringe everytime.

I just read he might play tomorrow too. That's great news. Hate to hear when anyone gets hurt playing the game they love.

Good luck to your team tomorrow night bro. I hope our luck is just a little better.

The Sens need this win tomorrow night if they want to make a series of it.
We need to score early tomorrow to get a little mojo going.

No need to feel ashamed my man. You actually had something to look forward to this year, hence no real need to follow the draft. I've literally forgotten what an important game feels like considering the sorry state of decay the Fins, Leafs and PSG are in.

There's two players I really like. Drew Doughty who is considered the number two prospect behind Steve Stamkos. He reminds me of Ray Bourque. And I don't say that often. The second one is aforementioned Luke Schenn, who is slotted to go in that 5-7 range. He reminds me of a Scott Stevens, at worse, he'll be an Adam Foote type, play on that top pairing, and shut down the opposing forward. Still yet to see Nikita Filatov play, but he's another highly thought of prospect, as is Zach Bogosian.

Total non effort by my Bruins tonight.

Tim Thomas for all his pluses, might be the worst puck handling goaltender I've ever seen. His inability to even stop simple dump ins led to 2 Hab goals tonight.

The players that need to play well for my B's were either no shows (Savard, Sturm, Krejci, Kessel) or just AWFUL (Glen Murray). Chara was dreadful tonight as well, as was Aaron Ward.

The plus for me is they can't play any worse then they did tonight. Julien needs to sit down Hnidy or Stuart and put in Lashoff on defense, they need more speed back there and he NEEDS to reinsert Vlad Sobotka and sit Thornton or Reich.

They also need to be PHYSICAL. They were out muscled by a small Euro team tonight.

Yeah. I don't know who had a worse effort in Game 1, my Sens or your Bruins.......OK my Sens were worse.
But the one thing we both have going for us is that neither of our teams can be much worse in Game 2.
I think the thing that killed both the Sens and Bruins was giving up a goal in the first 90 seconds. It put you on your heels on the road right away. Not a good way to start.
Ottawa has to hit the net in Game 2. They had 27 missed shots last night.

Stars 4 Ducks - Nada

That's the way to start a series. Having the Ducks skating off listening to boos from their home fans. It's just one game, though. Turco - three shutouts in his last four playoff games - who'dathunkit? Hopefully he stays zoned in. The young defensemen - Niskanen and Grossman - didn't have any glaring breakdowns. Keep it up, boys! Morrow played like a captain should, and Jere Lehtinen was Jere. The power play was working tonight - all four goals came off it. Just a good, disciplined game.

Not much to complain about in this one. That'll probably be saved for Game 2. Hopefully not, though. Go Stars!

Flyers' Thoresen released from hospital after taking puck to groin
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs2008/news/story?id=3343675

Oh man I just saw this on espn, sorry if it is late. I haven't had much of an opportunity to pay attention to the playoffs with the panthers being out and the complete lack of coverage the NHL gets in south Florida. I can't even imagine the pain of getting hit by an NHL slapshot, let alone in the groin. Getting hit by a puck hurts bad enough.

So frustrated by NHL officiating right now. My Bruins got jobbed tonight...I can't recall being this livid after a hockey game, hell any sporting event.

The Habs are nothing but a bunch of diving *****es. Nothing will make me happier to see them bounced by somebody.

I didn't get to see the game, but I completely understand what you are saying about NHL officiating. I can't even watch games where the panthers play the hurricanes. The way the refs call those games is sickening. It got to the point where I was predicting exactly what would happen with every game. A late tripping call against the panthers (usually it was Stall or Williams diving), and the panthers losing in late period 3 or OT.

Stars coming home with a 2-0 lead on the Ducks. The Ducks are out-hitting the Stars, but not much else. Turco has been better than Giguere, and the Stars have dominated the action for the most part. They've been dynamite on the power play and decent on the kills. The young defenders have made a couple of mistakes, but overall, you've got to take what they're giving to the bank with a huge grin sliced just over your chin. The scoring line of Ribierio/Morrow/Lehtinen has been great, and Modano and Richards have found the net as well. Otter has been his menace self. Things looking good, so far. Hopefully, the Stars will bring it in Game 3.

Well, here is a quick review of the last 9:40 (and the penalties) of the hockey game, including the overtime. Basically, this all started right after Boston tied it up.

Reich (12:50, 3rd period), A soft little grab behind the play that had nothing to do with anything. Reich pinned his guy against the glass right after he got rid of the puck.

Metro (14:17, 3rd period), Montreal was on a powerplay and Metropolit went down to swipe at the puck. Michael Ryder had gotten rid of the puck and REALLY sold the "trip". It was a thin call but the officials had to even it up and give Montreal a 2 man advantage because Boston had one about 10:00 prior.

Thornton (17:43, 3rd period), the only legit call of the bunch, double minor because Kostopolous was cut.

Reich (1:31, OT1), this was the back breaker. The Bruins had been short handed for basically the last 7:00 minutes including a 5 on 3. It was the tail end of the double minor to Thornton. Here is the clip.

At 0:08 (in slow motion) watch Reich get a stick in the face (cutting him on his chin) and there is no call. It happened BEFORE the trip did, my Bruins got ****ed twice in a span of 5 seconds.

I might be reaching but Markov is VERY strong on his skates but he went down like he'd been hit by a sniper after getting his skate tapped by Reich. It was also overtime! It was a dive and a total garbage call and it cost my B's a game they could have won, changing the series.

There was one legitimate penalty called in that sequence. Of the last 9:40 of the game, including the OT the Bruins were short handed for 8:06 of it.

I agree on the last call. I don't think it was a dive is was a simple trip/fall that should not have been called

What a shot by Kovalev to win it though

I dont know man... the stick looks to get right under the blade, which would cause a player to fall... from looking at that video, id say its a trip, more so than a dive.

As for the rest of the game I can't comment. The game tonight has been pretty good though. Carey Price is and impressive young goaltender. I remember watching him a couple years ago playing for team canada in the world jr's, you could just tell then that he was going to be good. Now I wonder when the Leafs will get around to bringing up Justin Pogge and giving him a real shot at it, he was stunning in the world jr's as well.

Im watching the boston/montreal game here on CBC in canada, and they were just showing sean avery, and his sickening attempt to screen martin brodeur in tonights game. He was standing on the edge of the crease, with his back turned to the play, facing brodeur, holding his hands up in front of his face and taunting him and moving wherever Martin went, screening, and taunting. Ron McLean and Kelly Hrudey both agreed Avery should have been given a 10 game misconduct, and I whole heartedly agree. Theres no place in the great game of hockey for the crap this guy does. Especially tonight... Its really quite pathetic to see. I'm all for screening the goalie, but you cant have your back turned to the play following the goaltenders every move, while taunting him at the same time... its disgusting, and pathetic hockey, from a pathetic excuse for a hockey player.

You might not like it, but until the league puts in a rule thats says you can't do it , there's really nothing wrong with it.

there is one. the unsportsmanlike conduct rule. Thats the rule that CBC was highlighting, I dont have the exact text to the rule but they showed it on screen. The whole purpose of CBC showing it was to show the rule, and point out that it should ahve been called. Don van Massenhoven who was the referee in the game, warned Avery twice while he was doing it. CBC's point was to say VanMassenhoven should have called a 10 minute misconduct on Avery. That way the point is made that it is against league rules, and shouldnt be tolerated, and at the same time it doesn't put a team at a disadvantage.

Somehow i got off track in my rant, and left out the part that was originally my point of the post. haha

That was an amazing hit! Sarich absolutely levelled him!!! Marleau has taken a beating tonight already, the first big shot he took in the corner that cut him above his eye, then that huge hit from Sarich. Just awesome, gotta love playoff hockey!

and I dont think we'll see it on youtube for a while.. maybe tomorrow?

The funny thing is TSN was talking about it too. They were saying the didn't like what Avery was doing, but that it wasn't a penalty. They were saying it didn't fall under unsportsmanlike conduct.

He runs goaltenders, yaps about family and health - still don't understand how any Rangers fan can support him after his disparaging comments to Blake about cancer, which he denies of course, even though it was confirmed by his own teamate - turtles when challenged, spears, and hits from behind. If the instigator was still around, he'd be out of the league, drinking with a straw. His day will still come, instigator or not.

I can't see the Rangers winning anything of importance with him though, and that should be all that matters. No player is bigger than the team. With the Pens, Mario Lemieux could rein in Ulf Samuelsson, in Colorado, Joe Sakic could rein in Claude Lemieux, with the Wings, Steve Yzerman could rein in Dino Cicarelli, I don't see anyone on the Rangers reining this monkey in, although Chris Drury tried today.
