I think Ginn will start opposite Crabtree for the 49ers.....his dropsies was an 09 problem will it conitnue into 2010? Stay tuned.
You could be right, that could easily happen as Josh Morgan...isn't...scaring anyone. I'd bet they use him as the #3 Wr and move Crabtree into the slot on 3rd and longs, now we all have seen Ted Ginn play and it was clear that he played his best with Pennington at the Qb position Smith's arm is popgun quality which may help Ginn out in trying to make an impact. For all the grief Ginn caught for the Colts game, people tend to forget he also had 11 catches in that game with no Michael Crabtree across from him.
Just MHO of course but I think we will see Teddy used to his best advantage and by the middle of the 2010 season some will be lamenting his departure. The major drops were only evident during a 4 game series when Henne was getting his feet wet. Afterwhich Ted only dropped one more pass for the rest of the season. It's a real shame that the 9'ers will get the gold after the hard work and learning period were put in here. The truth is that had Ted been picked at anyother spot than #9 when most expected Miami to pick Quinn, who would have been a true waste imvho, there would not have been so much hate against Ted from the getgo! I, for one, really hated to see him go, I wish you nothing but good luck Teddy. Make us proud!
And how many for first downs on 3rd and a distance, like 8 of them? I still don't think we used TG2 as well as we could have. Yes, we used him as a burner, but until Henne was in, no one could get it to him. He had a lot of YACs in college with quick slants and crossing routes. Ginn is a complimentary back, no denying it and I won't pretend he is a number one, and I think he will excel as a complimentary WR with Crabtree there, much like he would've here with Marshall. We shall see. Either way, I like the kid. He tried his best to live up to our standards (we had a right to place those high standards though - #9 overall) and maintained his composure all the while. He's a good kid and I wish him luck.
It wasn't the drops that has me disliking his football skills. It was the fact the he was/is a sissy. He would not get the extra yards because of a potential hit coming. That to me was the worst part of him. I do think he would have had a better career with us now that Marshall is here, but the fact that he played like a punk hurt him. With me anyways.
The thing is, his game wasn't pretty..it was effective. Eh, not crying over Ginn being traded, I do happen to think with a Qb with a similar arm to Pennington's along with a true #1 Wr across from him will equal a much more effective Teddy Ginn, and he will be returning all of the kicks as the 49ers have no one to compete with him let alone replace him on returns. To me, Ginn will once again be Top 5 in the NFL in all purpose yardage.
If the 49ers think they're getting a WR, hell, if they think they're getting a good return specialist they're sorely mistaken. If he starts in front of Josh Morgan, their OC should be fired.
I for one could look at the man and see he was not going to be into contact. Singletary might be able to light a hidden fire under his butt but I don't see it. Just use him as a flyer and an occassional crossing Wr, and he can be OK......if their Qb can see him.
I can see Ginn living up to his potential there. And if he does, watch out. Crabtree, Davis, Ginn, and Gore will burn the NFC west for years.
there only impressed because he doesnt have to run out of bounds in practice. he will let them down in game time. i dont hate ginn at all. i hate that we never got to see him man up and realize his potential. greg camarillo was his mentor here. imagine if he were learning under the wing of marshall who is not afraid of contact and plays like he has a desire to produce. it might have actually inspired ginn to try harder.
Won't matter, his role is as a deep threat as long as he catches the ball who cares what he looks like? His playing style has nothing to do with anything, he will finish in the top 5 in all purpose yardage, running out of bounds and ducking contact the entire time. Ugly..but effective..it is what it is.
I think he's out of this league in 2 years..... San Fran only used a 5th on him so they'll be less inclined to put up with his lack of balls, the fans will turn on him quicker since he comes advertised as the biggest ***** in the NFL and after that teams will see that he's mostly a waste of time. And "effective" my ***...lol
I hope he absolutely kills it in San Fran. I'm going to be rooting for him every week. Go get em Ginn!
I really like Ginn's prospects in SF. I may try and use a late round pick on him in my fantasy league.
It wasn't even a problem late in 09. It was a problem in early to mid 2009. Then he got demoted. Then he played solidly (not spectacularly) at the end. Not all WRs are fighters. And nobody caught more balls down the middle than Ginn did in Miami. As long as he makes the catches down the middle what more do you ask from a slim burner.
He will end up in the Top 5 in all purpose yardage somewhere right around 2,300 or so... It is funny to see people who criticize..how his game looks...not his effectiveness..there are no style points awarded in the NFL Bro.
Your gonna see a pissed of Ginn. I sorta wonder if it wasnt a situation where he didnt really like football or was burned out. Quite possible considering he has breathed football his whole life. This fire might be lit, we all saw how he responded to being benched last year.....an NFL record 2 100 KR's for Td's. Maybe it was more mental than we thought.....maybe it was a coincidence.
Maybe it was our stubborn coaching staff not adapting to the skills our players had. Check out Ronnie Brown's receptions numbers. 2007 - 5.5 pg 2008 - 2.0 pg 2009 - 1.5 pg I mean seriously. WTF. Get ronnie behind the line and facing LBs and DB's only. They don't stand a chance! And we abandon it.
