Beasley plays soft.. Watching Wade tower over everyone to get rebounds should be an example to Beasley, but apparently not... He is not a Pat Riley type player..

Kevin Garnett was probably called mentally soft at this time in his career.

I use the age thing to hold some hope myself, but I don't know if I see it with Beasley. You can say what you want about K.G., JO, and all of the other players who didn't blossom until they were 22+ and that's fine as all are valid points. However, the thing is... Michael Beasley just rubs me off as very nonchalant. I don't think anything matters to him when he's on the floor. He definitely DOES NOT have the killer instinct, at least not yet, and that's not something that usually develops with time at this level. We've seen him flip the switch and go into "beast mode" from time to time, but what's the biggest stretch of consistency we've seen out of him, 4-5 games? And I'm not talking a span of greatness, just consistent production.

I don't know man. I'm optimistic based on his amazing talent level alone, but everything else... very alarming. This is the type of player that can develop three ways:

1.) Realize potential. Work hard. Live up to it. Superstar.
2.) Improve slightly but stays the same for the most part. Glenn "Big Dogg" Robinson.
3.) Hit the downward spiral. Talented player that nobody wants.

I'd definitely take Rose, Lopez, Westbrook, or Mayo over him in a heartbeat when talking hindsight.

Come on, Beasley. Get your **** together man.

On a brighter note as we'll get back to Michael Beasley more in the offseason... 10 game winning streak on the brink. You already know Wade is going to drop 30-40 tomorrow night if he has a chance (blowout potential, 25-30 minutes played). He played really bad against Philadelphia for the most part although he stepped up BIG when it mattered the most. He doesn't have two bad games in a row, especially on HIS home floor in HIS house in HIS city and HIS state (sorry Danny Boy, but this is D-Wade's city now... see that ring?).

Can't wait for JO to get back into his groove, too. People don't realize that. We've been winning without JO. Right before his injury he was playing his very best basketball as a Heat. I can't wait for him to get back into that mode right before/around playoff time.

Feeling optimistic heading into a potential 7 game series with Boston or Atlanta. Hopes aren't up, but they're level.

The race for the 15th overall pick in the 2010 draft (Miami vs. Toronto)

    8th seed...

TOR: 38-40 (REMAINING: @ ATL, vs. CHI, @ DET, vs. NYK)
CHI: 38-40 (REMAINING: @ NJ, @ TOR, vs. BOS, @ CHA)

Bosh-less from here on out currently riding a 3-game losing streak, as you know.

If Toronto can beat Chicago at home and win ONE out of the other three, then I think we're good. Chicago is probably losing to Boston & Charlotte.

LOL @ STAT even answering 2010 questions via Twitter:

I'm telling you... I feel sorry for ESPN in the summer. Players & agents are going to break every big signing before the media gets it. Amare, Wade, and Bosh are all major Twitter users.

Dan the Man is retired, it's not really accurate to say this is his town, at least not in the sense of active athletes. (All-time, though, this will always be his city.) Jason Taylor represents football in Miami for this decade, so if you're going to say D-Wade trumps the biggest football player in Miami, then he trumps JT, not Dan.

D-Wade doesn't trump Marino, but he sure as hell trumps Jason "Noo Yawk? Sure!" Taylor.

I can see where you're coming from, but that's a minority viewpoint. Dan trumps everyone else in SoFla sports history except Don Shula. This means no-ring Marino trumps the other Fins with rings, including Griese. I don't think that was ever in dispute.

    Shula > Marino > Wade > Taylor > Riley > Zo > Shaq > Hanley.

Wade passed Marino when he brought us a championship. Sorry. I'll take individual greatness plus a ring over individual greatness overloaded with consistent heartbreak.

When you lose shooting 55% and outrebounding an opponent..you know what that means?

    Your defense was trash.

As soon as the Heat got to #1 in FG% defense and #2 in PPG defense. They put up this stinker.

Re-focus and go ready to kill the Knicks on Sunday.

Pretty pissed at that performance. Losing a 9-game winning streak on your home floor to the Detroit Pistons is downright disgusting. Defense was horrible in general and did Wade even ATTEMPT a shot in the fourth quarter? My God. 9 FTA & 8 FGA. Odd because it wasn't like he was having a poor shooting night. Don't get it at all. Whatever, though.

There is a bright side to this:

We're still going to finish the season with 45-47 wins (under .500 at All Star break; 43 wins last year), and we're probably seeded 6th now. Milwaukee is a full game ahead of us and own the tie breaker, so they're virtually two games ahead. That's probably going to do it, and I'm fine with that! Rematch against Atlanta and the winner gets ORL/CHA rather than going up against Boston with the winner getting Cleveland. Better "bracket"

We can win the first round in six games, take the second round to seven and possibly win it.

I was thinking about something... Go Bulls

If the Raptors miss the playoffs and keep their pick and Bosh leaves, then they are likely going to miss the playoffs for the next 4-5 years as well. The pick is lotto protected through 2014, which is when Dwyane Wade will be in his early 30s. That's a while from now, but perfect timing for a lottery pick. If anything this makes me care less about the Raptors missing the playoffs and keeping their pick... not that I'd be upset with them making it, as they'd have the lowest record of all playoff teams which would grant Miami with the 15th pick in the 2010 draft along with our own in the late teens.

Don't tell me this is going to be three horrible games in a row against three horrible teams.

The Heat, Wade in particular, are really starting to piss me off.

What the **** happened to that stifling defense? It's completely gone... and it vanished against Philly, Detroit, and New York! Not Phoenix.

Please find it at some point in this game or the next two before Atlanta.

we get next year's second, but we don't get the first until whenever toronto does make the playoffs. it could be a while without bosh.

also, we get an additional 1.5 mil of cap room for 2010, since it wouldn't go to that pick.

we had yet another slow start...then we toyed with them the rest of the way.

We gotta go hard tomorrow night against Philly..so we can sit everybody on Wednesday vs. NJ.

The magic number is at 1 for clinching at least the 6 spot.

Well...congratulations Charlotte. We gave you Orlando. Weren't you guys ahead of us? LOL!

    UDONIS!!!!!!!!!!

We got the 6th seed on lockdown...The Bucks lost, so we have the 5th seed by one game right now with 1 to go.

Boston needs to win out to grab the 3 seed and they need Atlanta to lose one. Boston wins the tie because they are a Div. Champ.

    looking alot like Boston......
