I'd take a Mustang over a Camaro anyday, given a choice I'd take the Vette ZR-1 over either one.

Reminded me of Cosby's skit on the cobra called 200 mph that I love to this day even though it's decades old. I couldn't find a version of the original that I could post here but found another version between him and Leno. Story is a bit different but the theme is the same.

Thanks Man, I enjoyed the story. It was 1967 when Shelby gave the 427 SC to Bill Cosby. I remember reading the story in Road & Track Magazine in 1967. The front cover featured the Mediterranean Blue, Super Snake, as they called it.

What surprised me was that it was an automatic. That part I missed from the original article.

As you can tell, I'm a great fan of all things Shelby.

    Really?

I used to really dig the Shelby Chrysler products since I read about a CSX-T being available at Hertz Rental Car counters in "Street and Strip" magazine.

That magazine was the source for modifying cars back in the day, put a fishtank pressure release valve on your turbo and you can run the pressure up to 20 psi..which was big stuff back in the day.

Back to the Ford products...Mole, did you ever run across a 60's era Shelby Mustang with the Super Charger kit installed?

I'm not sure if Bro Pagan knows that Shelby used to supercharge a tiny percentage of his cars.

It was actually an option on the 66 GT350. They had a deal with Paxton. I'm not sure how many were made, but it wasn't alot.

I had almost forgotten about the Shelby Chrysler marriage!

Had a friend that worked for Pan Am back in the late sixties that bought an 66 Hertz GT 350. He got married, expecting their first child, traded it in on a Pinto Wagon!!!! PUUUUKE!

Never, during the times I spent looking at the window stickers on every 65 & 66 GT 350 every Saturday at Ray Hunt Ford, did I run across one with more than 306 HP. A Super Charged one, would have been emblazoned on my mind forever.

Had to be a very rare, special order item. I also wasn't aware that CS was getting 300 + HP from the 260 CID V8, in the early Cobra's either. According to a Documentary I recorded "GT 40, America's Greatest Race Car" the 1962, 260 cid AC Cobra, was pumping out as much as the 289 CID 65 & 66 models. It was equipped with 6 Weber Down Draft Carbs.

Different strokes for different folks, but I feel so blessed to grow up during the times the Muscle Car was coming of age. There was an electricity in the air during those times that only a nasty "Police Action" in Southeast Asia, the sweet smell of Orange Blossoms blooming all over the state of Florida and Carroll Shelby, drawing a Bulls Eye on Enzo Ferrari's back could bring about.

    I truly love the era.

God I loved those cars...my second love.

My first was the 64 Stingray convertible.

I did as well, as much as I loved Cougars I also had a soft spot for the old AAR racing 'Cuda's and the Javelin AMX's.

I used to like Mopars until I actually bought one, a 1965 Barracuda S, it just never ran right and that is why I switched to the 79 mustang with a turbo on it, back then the Turbo Mustang produced more power than the 302 V-8 did due to emission controls and the gas problems.

Cannot beat those old all steel American Muscle cares, my goodness Pagan, those things were tough as tanks, you may have lost her, but she did manage to keep you alive before she left.

Nice, my '79 mustang had the TRX package:

Which required oddball tire sizes, in fact they now retail for 417 dollars...each.

A nice vid of the 79 Turbo, this one in Daytona 500 pace care configuration:

I had a 1982 GT with the same package. They are metric and at one time only Michelin made the tires...

One more bit of self-indulgence. The new Eddie for the 2010 car show season made it's debut today. :D
