I don't know if he is a diva or not but the whole business with the cleats on his Pro Day was definitely diva-esque behavior. I honestly don't know if he takes plays off or whether or not he will be able to get separation. Those are simply things I am hearing and reading. I would not be surprised if Dez Bryant becomes of one the best wideouts in the NFL. However I would not be surprised if he self-destructed either. As far as the tape goes have you seen JPP play? Forgetting a pair of cleats is diva-esque now? Or are you referring to after when said that teams will regret passing on him. I bet if JPP said something like that youd be all over it ripping him apart for his diva-esque behavior.
I'm talking about the drama involved with the whole thing. Golden Tate, Arrelious Benn, Damian Williams, and Brandon LaFell simply worked out on their prospective pro days. End of story. With Dez Bryant we get all kinds of drama. On the NFL Network Charlie Casserly said he would be concerned after Dez Bryant's pro day. Does that mean he would not draft him? Who knows? However there are some red flags. Also I am not ripping Bryant apart. I just believe he has way more red flags than JPP. Both of them are amazing super talented athletes.
I'm not talking about behavior here. I'm talking about Best Player Available. JPP is not better than Dez Bryant. And for the record, drafting JPP is just as risky as drafting Dez Bryant, IMO.
You cannot separate behavior from the equation. It affects a player's ability to get on the field. If they cannot get on the field then it doesn't matter how talented they. Also Dez Bryant's issues extend to his performance on the field. I already laid them out so I'm not going to repeat myself. Drafting JPP is risky because of his lack of experience. Drafting Dez Bryant is risky for a whole different reason. How so? I don't know, man. Sounds like an excuse to me. Bryant had a subpar Pro Day and drama followed. That's my take on it.
