http://finance.yahoo.com/family-home/article/109110/how-to-shave-costs-on-razors This guy makes a fair argument. I admit to being a slave to convenience; when I stopped seeing blades for my old Mach 3, I switched to the obscenely expensive Fusion. And while I appreciate the fine nature of the shave I get with the Fusion - especially since I shave my head as well as my face - I've often felt cheated as I pay out the *** every month or so when I have to change blades at roughly three times the cost of the Mach 3 blades.
try this. ive been using the same fusion blades for like a year. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ADaRIqy0Dc"]YouTube- How to Sharpen and Reuse Your Razor Blades for Years[/ame]
You can get a pack of razors for like a few dollars. The bag that comes with a bunch. It gets the hair off your face. It doesnt vibrate or lubricate or whatever, but it gets the hair off.
I would be willing to be 1000000.00 that your Mom bought if for you for Xmas.....Just saying. As for blades, I still use Trac-II Atra. The blades are tough to find sometimes, but they are approx 1/3 of the price of the newer models. Never had a problem with it not working either. Oh, I also use a Norelco Electric...the kind with the Gooooo.... Honestly helps with the hurt...alot And yes, My mom bought it for me for Xmas.....
I don't use my arm, but a pair of denim jeans also does the same. You're essentially stropping the razor blades when you do that, which in turn sharpens them.
No she didn't, though she probably did buy me my 1st electric razor. I never really get any hurt shaving, I shave dry when I do use disposables.
You mean disposable razors? You crazy son. No way...not until I get a disposable head. First time I shaved my head it was at a buddy's house. (Yes, it was on a dare; but I had been wanting to do it anyway for a while by then) Used one of his disposable ****ing razors...brand new - NOT exaggerating...the the number of cuts all over my head and face was in the high teens. Only time I ever used a disposable, last time I ever would.
I've never cut myself shaving, with any kind of blade. Odd. My trick is to start going with the grain to shorten the hair, then against it to eliminate it.
It's different for everyone. My hair is too thick for those disposable razors. I get cut everywhere too when I've used them. I shave with my Mach razor in the morning and by 5pm i have a 5'oclock shadow. I can grow a beard in week.
Me using a disposable razor would end, apparently much like Gish pleasing himself.......in a blood bath
this. initial cost is a ***** and technique is hard to achieve but once you've got it down all you need to do is buy cream.
For those that use the method shown in the youtube vid - do you know if it works with thicker arm hair?
I once told a friend of mine who's an old-school barber that I wanted to try having him give me a pro shave with a straight razor. He looked at my shave and told me no way he could give me any closer a shave than I was getting on my own. Plus, no way I'd try to shave my head with a straight razor...too many ways to cause serious harm where I can't see what I'm shaving. Plus it'd be a sacrifice in terms of speed and comfort.
lol no it does just not as thick or often. Which.... Actually sucks. Hey at least I don't have to buy expensive razors like you poor saps ah Fml.
Dude......get a real problem..lol Unless you're a mustache or beard kinda guy and it's important to ya to have one of those, having to shave a lot is a freakin curse. I get a 5 o clock shadow by lunch time
Beards, definitely the way to go. I shaved mine off once since I was 18, for my med school interview. Haven't since.
I'd love to keep my beard but I can't because of work. They won't let you in most plants/refineries if you have one because you may need to wear a respirator.
When I was a teenager, I'd use disposable blades dry. No cream, no water, no problem. Things change. This. And having any sort of mustache/beard combo is a double curse. You get all the crappiness of shaving, with the added weight of accuracy i.e. not ****ing your beard up. Plus you have to trim with it with clippers every few days. And I'm not even a metro guy. I'd love to be able to shave in under 5 minutes.
