Just a question on this, and hopefully you don't take it the wrong way, but what major improvements do you think we need on the offense?

Assuming everyone stays healthy, the only two positions I can think of that really need work are a #1 Receiver, and a TE that can catch reliably (and hold onto the ball...).

Whereas on the Defense we've got problems at FS, NT for sure, and arguably OLB too, and before Dansby, ILB.

Just curious what you think needs changing on the offense that would constitute a major upgrade, and what you think needs to be done on the Defense to constitute a Minor upgrade?

I see things mirror to you (Heavy upgrading on D, minor on offense), but it's always interesting to see the specifics as to how other people think.

Only thing left to do is respectfully disagree. Only time will answer the age old question of offense vs. defense. I'm hoping this FO has a plan to adequately address both. It's still early.

I agree with you. We are a #1 WR and TE away from being a very good if not great offense.

We have problems on defense, but I think we can win with this defense. I don't think we can win with this offense, specifically these WRs. Just because we have more positions of need on defense doesn't necessarily mean it's the bigger overall need. And I think those are positions that can be filled through the draft easier than WR.

The problem with just looking at defensive needs and performance in 2009 is that it doesn't factor in how much our defense was impacted by poor play on offense.

I do agree with that in that it's hard to quantify how much of the poor defensive play was those 3 and outs getting them. Especially towards the end of the year when we lost a lot of our ground and pound attack to draw the game out.

Thanks for explaining a bit more though, it definitely makes sense. I'm just skeptical of the WR options out there. But I definitely can see where you're coming from

We better grab him before the Jets scoop him up....I would do it....we don't know how the top mentioned Safeties in the draft will do, and Brandon Graham may or may not be all that in the pros. A young Pro Bowl like Bethea is a sure thing.
