Well he did face him twice with the chiefs last year, if Zach was on the sideline.

If they want a 2 and a 3 next year i dont see how you DONT do it.

Im tired of the over emphasis on 2nd round picks vs established stars in this league.

What's kind of awe-inspiring is how that one thread has become so legendary that you can hardly reference it without nearly everyone knowing exactly what you're talking about!

lol yeah but what do you expect after this franchise making it a policy to throw away as many draft pics as possible each year. That definitely has made me hesitant towards trading any pics

I get what your saying but we are talking about a young PROVEN pro bowler at a need postion. Not a QB who never played well on grass or w/o Moss....Were not talking about a "system QB" who had a few good games.

And when you take a look at last years MISTAKE it starts making more sense.

This team is ready to win now with Brandon Marshall.

Years ago, someone (fishypete?) kept on insisting that we move Zach Thomas to Safety. The idea was so ridiculous, that it lives on in infamy!

Unfortunately, it's not just draft picks, or the high price tag Marshall will warrant, but that this regime undervalues the WR posistion. Always have, most likely always will.

Sometimes I feel like this regime is that super-hot gf who refuses to go all the way. (delicately put because this is a family site ;))

See post #7. It's referring to a guy named Pete, from FH, that seriously wanted to convert ZT to Safety.

I say Zach is right. Marshall is proven and just coming into his prime. Anybody we take at #12 is a crap shoot.

I love Zach, and value his opinion on anything football related. But, on this I'd have to respectfully disagree with him.

For one thing, and not to get into a debate with all the Marshall supporters, but the off the field stuff is too much of a distraction IMO. Also, let's just say that pick (#12) ultimately gets traded down for a later first round pick and another second rounder. That's two picks you would've given up, not just one. Then there's the huge contract Marshall will want, and all the diva stuff to comes along with him. No sir, I'd just as soon let someone have the headaches while we use the pick(s) to rebuild our defense.

Now, if Marshall was more like Zach was, as a team player, and as a team representative, then I might have a different opinion on the matter. But, he's not. So, 'nough said.

    JMHO...

Trading down is nearly always attractive and almost never possible.

And ZT's opinion seems to be weighing the potential distraction against the potential benefit. It's clear he disagrees with all those that believe that Marshall will be a distraction. At least no where near how much of a benefit he'll bring.

I would rather have marshall than bryant.I doubt bryant will do better then 100 plus catches 3 years in a row.I really think if they paid this guy what he wants he will shut up and play.
How about we trade thigpen (who would be an upgrade over orton)and our 2nd rounder for marshall. Then we draft olbs brandon graham, and then draft nt cam thomas in the third. We find a free safety and bamm we have a contender. If it was only that easy.

If Brandon Marshall was a defensive lineman or linebacker with the same production, age, and issues this regime would of had him in for a visit on March 5th.

It's pretty rare to find a top 5 WR in this league and it's even more rare to find one without some baggage somewhere and it's just as rare to see anyone willing to give one up for only a 1st round pick. Even if we do somehow find one in the draft looking around the league currently kind of shows once they achieve that status they will become a diva of some sort as well.

I think what it boils down to is do we wan't a legit top 5 reciever or not? Because if we are waiting for that perfect reciever that doesn't get in to trouble, doesn't act like a diva etc...to fill that spot, it'll likely be another 20 years before we find them.

We are apparently waiting for another Larry Fitzgerald.

And when that next great character top notch prospect at receiver emerges, it won't matter because he'll be a top 5 pick where we likely won't be picking and this regime apparently doesn't believe in sacrificing picks to move up. They'd rather just double up on positions of need, lol. Basically, as far as the wide receiver position goes... the future will either be lucky or loaded with a whole bunch of fail.

Instead of signing Zach Thomas to a one day contract as a player, let's sign him to be GM for one day so he can get the Brandon Marshall deal done. Then Jeff can have his job back. Maybe.

Zach is the man stars or not. (always enjoyed watching him act like a scud missile on the ball carrier.)

If Marshall was healthy and a proven physical good sized good hands receiver he would be worth a first.
Would he make an impact on this team?
(Zachs opinion is from experience) offensively it is a no brainer.

Brandon Marshall has too many off the field issues. Just way too many.

There's a reason the Broncos want him gone. You don't just get rid of talent like that for the hell of it.

ZT is saying talent wise Marshall is Fitz, or better since he called Marshall the best WR in the league.

And Marshall would have to have far more character problems to outweigh his talent.

If we are dead set on using the #12 pick on a wide receiver, then we might as well use it trade for Marshall. If not, then keep the pick.
