Bryant has about a 25% chance of making it to #12. He is a top 5 talent in this draft. His most likely landing spot is #10 or #11, but saying he has no chance of making it to #12 would be inaccurate. Given the option I would use the #12 pick on Marshall, though. I think Bryant can be an all-pro, but Marshall can be a HOF player. Obviously you have to do your due diligence on both of these guys, but it would be irresponsible to just ignore this much talent at a core position of need.
Also the holdout concerns are overblown. I saw a breakdown of his agent's recent high picks. Some were holdouts and some weren't. I would guess that you'd find that among most agents. People are just saying "holdout" now b/c Crabtree held out last year, but IMO that had as much to do with Crabtree as his agent.
Brandon Marshall is too high of a risk. He's got all the talent in the world but one more incident with the law could put him in jail or get him suspended. If it weren't for him, Darrent Williams would still be alive. The guy has major issues and no way would our organization give up a first round pick form someone like that.
Damn, I actually meant to write "might still be alive", but it doesn't change the fact that Marshall is a troublemaker.
I think 99.9% of the time you have very good and positive things to say. This time you are wrong and out of bounds. You need to google both Marshall and Dummerville's testimony. The 2 thugs that killed Williams had a beef with Williams all night and were flashing gang signs at him and making gestures like they had a gun all night. Marshall and Dummerville acted as peace makers the entire evening and it wasn't till the evening was over Marshall had enough of them. They went after Williams not Marshall when they ran off, they knew they 2 were in different limo's. Several club bouncers all told this story!
It still isn't a fair statement. Marshall's brother sprays some champagne that gets on a nearby group of gang members. They get pissed and get in the brother's face so Marshall protects his brother. Some pushing ensues and not much else, but the gang members are still pissed so when everyone leaves they drive-by and kill Williams. Marshall is not the trouble maker here and blaming him for that is ridiculous. All Marshall is guilty of is behaving like an *** when he was pissed at McDaniel and before that of having repeated domestic issues with one crazy girlfirend. The girlfriend is gone and he married another girl and has had no domestic issues since. McDaniel had pissed off about half the locker room on his own. Marshall was just the guy who handled it the worst. Marshall is immature, but productive and driven most of the time. And many people mature as they get older so to think that a guy with HOF talent can't mature seems a little dismissive. If I was Miami I would talk to him and see where his head is. If I'm satisfied that he is maturing then I send the #12 pick for him happily.
Beyond that those 2 thugs had a beef with Williams before the champaign incident. Seriously I am sure we have all got in a stupid argument at a bar or club, calmed down had a beer with the other person and moved on. Hell that is almost a weekly event with my crew when we go out for football games. Argue elevate male ego, reality sets in have a beer and laugh about it. Seems Marshall and Dumerville thought they accomplished this until the end of the night the 2 idiots started going after Williams again!
Stupidity started when Marshall tried to be friend them when they started with him outside. But hindsight is always 20/20 my friend!
i don't mind trying to be cool with someone who apparently has beef with you, but once they keep going its time to bounce and go find a new spot. And that to me is something most people would realize. I don't think hindsight has anything to do with that.
everything I read from testimony by Marshall, Dumerville and a couple Bouncers was it appeared to be over. Then once outside the 2 idiots started doing it again!
They did bounce once they realized there was still an issue. But by then, it was too late for them to do anything about it. **** happens, don't blame it on the victims.
Didn't Marshall say himself that the gang members were gunning for him?? That he escalated the situation?
**** happens? like your homeboy getting shot? thats far from **** just happening. And if ryan is right then it doesn't sound like there was much they can do, but like it or not, there are instances where the victims can do something like walk away, thats not really justifying the shooting or whatever, its just saying what it is.
It was related to the champagne incident. The gang members were pissed at Williams b/c he took the whole VIP section or something. Then it escalated b/c Marshall's brother was spraying the champagne around and some sprayed on the gang members. The gang members started making threats against everybody in the group. Marshall and his brother were main targets. But none of that makes Marshall the instigator or a trouble maker. He's had his issues but it's been blown way out of proportion. His main problems have been immaturity and being with a crazy girlfriend. And during that time his production puts him on track for the HOF.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/02/27/brandon-marshalls-testimony-leaves-no-doubt-he-was-the-real-target/ I stand by my opinion on the matter.
If Bryant is on the board when we pick we better pick him unless suh berry or McCoy are on the board to
Ok guys I will attempt to clarify the chain of events. This is from the research I did and reading the testimony from Marshall, Dummerville, and 2 Bouncers. 1 Bouncer who was working the door, one who was guarding the VIP area. Bare with me I am responding from my PDA. 1. 2 thugs started a verbal argument with Marshall and doorman because Marshall was allowed to bypass the line. They were yelling we street niggas got money too and flashing gang signs. Marshall in attempt to be a peacemaker offered to bring them in with him and buy them drinks. 2. Prior to the Champaign incident the 2 thugs were going after Williams and flashing gang signs. Marshall and Dummerville calmed situation. 3. Champaign incident happened, 1 thug pissed 1 didn't care. Dumerville calms issue rest of night is ok. 4. Outside after closing 2 thugs are going after Williams again . Marshall gets mad says what the **** I'm cool with you buy you drinks and you do this? They say something Marshall goes after them slips on snow bank. One punches Marshall on the jaw. They run off, when Marshall and his limo turn corner they find williams hummer limo surrounded by police. They continued on thinking it was a traffic stop. J. Walker text Marshall letting him know Williams was shot. 5. Marshall feels going after them outside is what got Williams shot. All other investigators feel the thugs were gunning for Williams no matter what. Hope this helps
Did you actually listen to the testimony? From his testimony it's pretty clear that he was trying to play the peace maker. I see no basis for your opinion that Marshall was an instigator.
He did when they first were together....the cops were called, and a report was written but nothing ever happened....he needs to grow up with chicks...the chicks are his downfall...
My point is that Marshall is a troublemaker. Yes, he tried to play peace keeper but he also starter talking **** too. It doesn't matter though, this incident alone didn't form this opinion of him. I don't like him.
yeah when you get a minute, and if you haven't seen this...do so...the guy is a lunatic with chicks, EXACTLY the guy I want catching passes for Miami [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4A756xTC0s"]YouTube- Outside The Lines: Brandon Marshall's Past[/ame] obviously there are 2 sides to every story.....
Paul P was a pretty bad schemer. O. J. Atogwe is young and primed for a poison pill. LB's go deep in this draft so we can get some good OLB's in the later round. If we sign Atogwe there is no reason this #12 should be used on Defense.
Is your definition of talking **** when he said "you don't have a gun"? B/c I didn't hear much else that would qualify. I can understand you not liking somebody, but don't make up stuff to make him sound like a trouble maker.
Umm, I don't make things up. He is a troublemaker. Look at all the things that happened in Denver last year. All the things he said to the media. Great talent for sure, but is a head case.
I heard at least part of that before. I have quite a bit of experience working with people involved in domestic violence cases. In my experience the vast majority involve couples that engage in mutual combat on a regular basis. It's like this is how they normally communicate. Once these people separate and learn to communicate without hitting (with a different partner) DV often becomes a non-issue. If they are going to be the repeat offender types then you usually see it manifest right away. I obviously don't know if Marshall is hitting the new girl and she just hasn't been reporting it, but I don't think that's likely since she knows about his past. From my experience it seems likely that Marshall is not likely to have future DV issues unless he becomes a drunk or a drug addict. I also don't see that Marshall was guilty of any poor behavior in the Williams shooting. He could have left a bit sooner, but he was the guy that was pushing to leave early anyways. I don't see anything from that incident that should mark him as a trouble maker. IMO the only concerns I have is his immaturity in practice. He strikes me as a guy that is (or was) emotional and immature. If I talked to him and felt he knew was expected and what wouldn't be tolerated then I feel the odds are very good that he wouldn't be a character concern on this team.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandon_Marshall#Legal_trouble Go down to the section titled "Legal trouble" See ALL of those incidents? He's a troublemaker. That list also doesn't even talk about all the things he's said and done within the Broncos organization.
That's what it said in the police reports. He file against her, then a few days later she'd file against him in the same incident. That was the pattern I saw.
If he beats defenders like he used to beat his women. This guy is good. Dark humor aside, I think the guy can be helped. He freaked out in Denver because he felt he caused Williams's death. Maybe a change of scenery is necessary. Sleeping in your dead dog's doghouse won't help you get over its death. Driving down the same street your friend got killed on isn't too good for rehab.
Yup. I said we need a OLB badly. As in, the first round or possibly second. It's a position we need to hit and it's risky the longer we wait.
McClain's gonna go early. There aren't any others worth for a 12th pick. I say get an OLB in the second, NT in the third, Atogwe in FA.
