Not to worry Minnesota Teams are known for choking down the stretch. Also Al Jefferson hasn't recovered from his knee injury and has been like this all year. Also he doesn't fit in the triangle offense at all.

 

Minnesota choked well, but are you kidding me...

One point game with 28 seconds left after Dorell Wright hits another jumper, and we actually watched Minnesota kill the 24 seconds without fouling? What type of strategy is that. You've got to be kidding me. I don't think I've ever seen an NBA team not foul there. Pat Riley has to be laughing. I know he's not mad at this. You can only laugh at such a horrendous decision.

I'm done with this *** clown now.

 

Wade plays Minnesota loses by double digits. I thought for sure the Heat would foul once the clock ticked past 24 seconds left.

 

Any half normal human being with an ounce of basketball knowledge calls his team to foul in that situation.

What a wasted career night for Dorell Wright... and even funnier that he logged almost the same amount of PT as Daequan Cook.

Pat Riley, if you build this team properly in the summer YOU BETTER COME BACK AND COACH IT!

F that... I honestly do not care what the announcers say. I've been playing competitive basketball all my life. If the announcers scream "Fire Spoelstra!" are YOU going to agree with them? Hell no. You foul, send them to the line, and live to fight some more. 28 seconds is a lifetime in a close NBA game. You don't allow Minnesota to run the clock down to 4 seconds... 4 seconds... are you kidding me? What type of play can you draw up in 4 seconds? Ah, my bad. Didn't have to ask that question. A team contested triple from Daequan Cook... a player that the head coach himself doesn't even believe in enough to give decent PT when Wade is healthy.

Why run it down to 4 seconds when at most you're down three if you foul? You can go for the quick two on the next possession and foul again with about 15-20 seconds to go. The negatives outweigh the positives a ton when you DON'T foul in that situation. What if you allow Minnesota to run the game clock down to 4 seconds and they hit a three to end the game? What if they hit a shot or draw the foul, or like what we actually saw happen... grab the rebound on a missed shot, kill another second, and get free throws? You just wasted 24-25 seconds, and you're in the worst case scenario you would have been if you fouled from the get go. Do you realize how many possessions you can get out of 28 seconds playing the free throw game? It's a stupid, stupid decision and Dwyane Wade must have a head injury rather than a strained calf if he agrees with it. I understand going after the steal for 5-10 seconds or so, BUT YOU DO NOT LET MINNESOTA RUN THE GAME CLOCK FROM 28 SECONDS TO 4 SECONDS WHEN YOU'RE DOWN. That is absolutely ******ed.

Worst of all, this IDIOT of a coach runs the final play for Chalmers (who slipped on his way to the corner) with Cook as the secondary option. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Dorell Wright went 6-7 from three in that game... COOK IS HORRIBLE & CHALMERS IS HORRIBLE. I guess they compliment their head coach damn well.

It's pretty obvious that he's a below average head coach at this stage. Maybe, just maybe... you can argue that he's dead average. If you want to go by what the announcers have to say as your basis, then cool, let's find the most popular Heat website and run a poll on Erik Spoelstra... you're going to get a 70/30 split that he does not deserve to keep his job next season.

Section, you're my boy... but jeez is your opinion so tainted and biased when it comes to Erik Spoelstra. It's worse than the Ted Ginn fan club.

 

The funny thing that nobody mentions is that it's not only the decisions that Spo makes during games; it's that he has absolutely no control over his basketball team! Not even the veterans have enough respect for this guy's authority to follow the rules completely, and I don't want to speak on that because I don't like throwing people that I don't know personally under the bus. I think we all know what's going on, though, especially with Wade, Dorell, Q, Chalmers, Haslem, etc. and their excessive partying the night before games. I've stopped blaming the players. There are no consequences. There is no authority on this basketball team. There is one sheriff in this town, and he's only got control of the front office at the moment.

If Pat Riley didn't feel like Stan Van Gundy was qualified enough to coach a title contender, then I wonder how he feels about Erik Spoelstra. Seriously. He better come back next season if he puts together a competitive enough basketball team over the summer.

Hopefully Wade gives Riley an ultimatum: "Come back and coach this team for at least two years or I'm gone." Only because I know he'd go for it...

Seriously... if Minnesota runs the clock down all the way, misses, and Miami grabs the rebound... there is little over or under 3 seconds remaining.

& I'm still laughing at: Daequan Cook + Mario Chalmers = 1/9 from three in the game. Dorell Wright = 6/7. Dorell Wright is third option on the final play.

 

I stated why you would because the Timberwolves are not a good free throw shooting team. Sure coaches wont foul but IMO they should have risked it.

 

Excuse making? What excuse making? I see none of that. If anything, you're the one who makes excuses after excuse after excuse when it comes to Spo.

Get over yourself and get over Spo... he's not a good basketball coach at the pro level. PERIOD. The only thing that can make this guy is to be surrounded around an All Star team, which Pat Riley may be able to do in the summer. He better hope so.

Funny thing is, I've seen Pat Riley foul in similar his entire coaching career. LOL!

Miami lands Bosh or Amare in addition to more players, and Wade walks because Spo is on his way out? OMG.

There are worse, but in terms of Spo not being anything more than an average (to be generous) head coach, well, most basketball knowledgeable people agree with you.

 

There is a major misconception when it comes to the Spoelstra / Wade relationship.

Major.

If anything Dwyane Wade likes the freedom he didn't get when he had a coach that he actually respected authority wise.

The players DO NOT respect the coach. That is why they do WHATEVER they want WHENEVER they want.

You think Mario Chalmers would be on Twitter promoting parties on game night with Pat Riley on the bench?

Think Wade, Q, & Wright would be on Ustream partied out at 4-5am in the morning the night before the team has a game at 3PM on Sunday afternoon?

Much less what goes on on the court, there is no authority on this basketball team and that is evident.

Sorry Section but you foul there. 28 seconds is more than 24, but it still doesn't guarantee you get the ball back, then once you don't get the ball back what do you do? Foul.

I'd rather be down 3 WITH the ball than down 1 without it in that scenario.

Why does Michael Beasley back down when Dwyane Wade is in the game... he just completely stops attacking... I hate it. Don't go at Charles Barkley about not being a "Jermaine Jackson" if you're going to be just that once "Michael Jackson" returns. Come on, Beasley.

 

Tough game guys. I'm glad we won, but I hate having to get it done against the Heat. If anything happens to the Magic, I always pull for you guys. I hope Wade get's back to full strength soon, he's one of my favorite players. Peace.

Really hope you get the opportunity to meet Spoelstra and exchange numbers before he's ran out of town. I think he'd enjoy the addition of a dominant type in his life. Hell, it may even make him a better coach.
