Crazy, twisted thought... if the Amare deal goes through, would you take Caron Butler and Gilbert Arenas in a JON deal? Washington would not hesitate. They're trying to blow it all up, especially Arenas, Butler, and Jamison.

Oh the potential for that team next year is breath taking. Friend of mine heard this idea on the radio today; I think he said Ira brought it up. Not as a rumor, but as an idea. It tags along with a rumor, though, with that being Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood in place of Gilbert Arenas.

Every time I read into this more and more, I'm saying goodbye to Beasley no longer as a gut feeling, but as a wishful feeling! I want Amare down here right now. I'm convinced. I think it keeps Wade satisfied for the moment by being able to make a second or third round push, and it prepares us much better for the summer as well as piece #2 is already in place. I want this deal to go through now. Love Beasley, but he will NEVER fit this team UNLESS Dwyane Wade leaves... let's face it (you already have, I know, you've convinced me).

I'm off the Bron / Bosh talks as of right now, though. LeBron is staying in Cleveland. Toronto is playing well enough, IMO, for Bosh to highly consider staying put. He loves Canada.

In addition to Amare, I'm cool with one of Johnson, Gay, or David Lee. No one is really mentioning Lee, but he compliments Amare's game to perfection. Forgot he'll be unrestricted!

Some other decent (cheaper) options that could be had around mid-level money or less:

    - Brendan Haywood
    - Ray Allen
    - Raymond Felton
    - Josh Howard (very happy to see him having the worst season of his career; Dallas won't pick up that team option and he'll come cheaper than his ability)
    - Marcus Camby
    - Joel Przybilla
    - Shannon Brown
    - Luke Ridnour
    - Channing Frye
    - Steve Blake
    - Travis Outlaw
    - Kyle Korver

We could fill in the roster pretty well. Spend big on a big man, sign a Josh Howard or Travis Outlaw. Spend big on a small forward, sign a Przybilla or a Haywood.

I refuse to list Carlos Boozer. Do not want.

I'd bet some cash that Steve Blake ends up here if we don't land a better PG via trade.

Riley has been trying to get him on this team for years. Almost had him via free agency; almost had him via trade several times. Rings a bell with so many former Heat transactions.

Something I was told last night:

(no confirmation on any rumor (amare, anybody), My guy has no new info, Riley is working on this away from the team)

The Celtics, Trailblazers, and Mavs have basically been stalking us for Udonis Haslem. I have no idea what they want to give up, but they are HOT after him. Especially the Celtics, who I am told, offered a package that got Riley actually thinking. (No idea what it was)

I don't know what the Celtics have to offer, Big Baby? I think Josh Howard/Haslem works straight up, which I would be fine with

Celtics have been trying to move two players: Ray Allen and Big Baby.

They'd have to part with Perkins to get Ray Allen, though. And I'd give them some draft picks in that deal, but the Celtics would lose interest.

From Portland's perspective, think Travis Outlaw / Steve Blake. Again, no on the Haslem front, but that's PROBABLY the best offer we'd get for UD.

I'm pretty sure Dallas is talking Josh Howard... but no.

We can sign Outlaw, Blake, and Howard out right in the summer for mid level money or lower.

I'd be willing to move Haslem to Portland for a deal that involves Bayless, but it'd have to include more. When is Przybilla coming back?

If Przybilla was healthy, I'd do a Haslem + Cook / Chalmers for Pzybilla + Bayless + Outlaw / Webster / Batum deal.

Basically, any deal that includes Haslem to Portland has to net Miami one of those young 3's. I'd involve Chalmers to get Bayless.

Heavy scuttlebutt that Cleveland will make a push for Amare.

I don;t know what the hell they can offer that is even remotely as good as what we can offer.

Apparently Ferry and Kerr will be negotiating all weekend, and if nothing gets done, Cleveland will strike a deal for Troy Murphy. It is widely believed that there is already something in place with Indiana for Cleveland; it's being put on hold to see if they can land Amare instead.

This leads me to believe one thing and one thing only... Michael Beasley was never truly offered. There's no way Phoenix would pass on Michael Beasley at $4 million + cap space for all expiring contracts. It's $4 million, and a 21-year old potential all star that is already a proven 16/7 player. You can't tell me J.J. Hickson is more enticing as a prospect.

I would laugh my *** off if Cleveland lands Amare, gets owned in the playoffs, LeBron leaves, and Amare opts in. I don't know, though. They'd instantly become the heaviest favorites in years.

On the flip side... does Amare going to Cleveland eventually push Bosh out? His only chance to EVER win a title in his prime would be to join forces with Wade in Miami to try and take down Cleveland. That would make for epic playoff series after epic playoff series year after year after year. LeBron / Amare / Williams vs. Wade / Bosh / Beasley? (or whoever we trade him for). If David Stern has any influence, Amare ends up with Cleveland and Bosh signs here in the summer. :wink2:

    Yep.

There is nothing Miami can do to compete with a Bron / Amare / Mo-Will trio without adding Bosh.

Not to mention Kobe / Gasol / Bynum / Odom / Artest on the other side.

I really, really, really hope we land Amare. My current dream is trading for Amare, signing Johnson, Gay, or Lee, and begging Steve Nash to sign a 2-year deal to win a title.

If Cleveland decides to take on J-Rich, however, then forget about it. I wouldn't go that far.

    Not me.

What he has here in Miami is something most players can only dream of.

    He is a god. Beloved.

    You don't piss on that.

    HE OWNS a NBA franchise.

In Chicago, he would be Michael Jordan's butler and piss boy.

Cleveland has crap to trade. I would be shocked if they pull off a trade for Amare with Miami pushing like they are.

Repeat after me "Max Contract...MAX Contract"

A theory I don't particularly buy into btw.

Now what if that did happen, but Riles decided that Beasley was "the" building block?

How much cap space would then be freed up?

Suns insider on their RealGM board (he's reliable; gave a scoop on both Shaq deals before the media did - not sure about anything else, as I don't pay attention to their board unless it involves Miami) says that Miami has the edge in the Amare sweepstakes. Cleveland's proposal offers more cap flexibility, Miami's proposal isn't far off in terms of cap flexibility, and also offers much better talent (Beasley).

EDIT: I find it kind of interesting that the majority of the Suns board DOES NOT want Michael Beasley! In fact, some would prefer Hickson. Of course they have no say, but lol, that's kind of funny. I don't know how this compares with actual executives, but based on reading around, I've found that most fans around the league do not like Michael Beasley as a player at all. Kind of odd.

Ignore the politically correct crap about not involving Beasley in the talks. We have to say that in case nothing goes down and he remains a Heat. Everything else has been said already, but I found THIS to be very interesting:

Likely targets based on our needs/wants + availability:

    Phoenix: Amare (Beasley)
    Memphis: Gay (Beasley)
    Houston: Pass
Portland: Jerryd Bayless, Steve Blake, Travis Outlaw, Martell Webster (hell, entire team aside from Roy, Aldridge, Rudy, and Oden) (Haslem)
Charlotte: Ray Felton, D.J. Augustine, Tyson Chandler (Haslem)
    Sacramento: Pass
Boston: Ray Allen, Glen Davis (Haslem)

Guessing that a few of these teams are being brought up in talks as potential third parties in other trades, i.e. a partner to jump in and pick up Jason Richardson. I'm only making this assumption because Cleveland is trying to find a third team to get involved with their Amare pursuit to do so.

    NOT ONE.

BTW, is the Miami Herald just reading what I post in this thread and then repeating it? that is Three times this year that they "report" something me and HD have said here.

Ric Bucher says the Amare to Cleveland rumors are BS.

He says that Ferry is putting that out there to pressure the Wizards to deal Antwan Jamison to them.

He says the rumors are a bluff and the Suns have not entertained any Amare offer, and that Ferry has told some that Amare Stoudmire does not fit the Cavs profile.

Something could be happening TODAY (MONDAY).

The Heat has a 4.2 Million dollar trade exemption that expires.

They can include it for some filler.

The scuttlebutt is the Heat is shopping James Jones HARD, just like I said. he simply has to go for flexibility in the offseason regardless of any Amare trade.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the player has no say in where he's traded. So just because Amare wants to be here doesn't mean he will be here.

Though I'd package Beasley for him immediately.

False report by that ****ty outlet we all know as the Miami Herald. It's already been cleared up by several media outlets around the world, and Amare even chimed in HIMSELF on Twitter to clear that up as false. Miami Herald is an embarrassment.

We're still Amare's preference, but he simply isn't opposed to joining Cleveland. It's not really his choice, though. I do genuinely believe that Steve Kerry DOES NOT LIKE Michael Beasley, though. He is NOT well liked or sought after around the league at all. If Miami likes Amare, IMO, we'll have to find a third team to take Beasley and give Phoenix more preferable talent. Either that, or maybe Kerr comes to his senses and realizes the fact that Beasley is the best player he's being offered.

If Philly offers Iguadola, that deal gets agreed upon right away. If not, I see Amare going to Cleveland. Don't see him coming to Miami although I'd be all for it.

Also, anyone see how mad and jealous LeBron looked last night when Dwyane received his award? Not to mention how SELFISH LBJ played in the 4th quarter to try and outscore Wade to the MVP, while Wade and Bosh stuck within the team element. LeBron basically shot the West back into the game. Not a good look at all! I question his ego playing with Wade, but I don't care. I want Bosh.

    Okay...I will. :wink2:

The player IN This case has a ton of influence.

he has an option year and is an expiring contract that can opt out.

If he tells Cleveland that he will NOT resign with them, then Cleveland would be trading expiring contracts and a pretty good young player for a half season rental.

Not to mention that if you go through with the trade after he tells you he does not want to be there, that he can cause team chemistry problems.

So yeah..he actually has a a BIG say in where he gets traded to.

Good explanation, thanks. I'm a very casual NBA fan, so I really don't know how the contract system works. I wasn't sure if there was a right of refusal going on here.

So Amare's preferences mean something in terms of whether or not the team he's traded to gets appropriate value for him by keeping him longer than his current contract. Makes sense.

Too bad he's shot down the "no Cleveland" thing...
