A tour that will make headbangers weep... Coming this summer.... Heaven & Hell, Judas Priest, Motörhead & Testament on tour together. Orgasmic....
For fans of experimental, progressive, tech metal check out the new Meshuggah album 'Obzen' which was just released. They are currently on tour with Ministry. MESHUGGAH
Definitely an acquired taste, not really my favorite genre but these guys are simply amazing live. I don't believe I've ever seen anyone play so tight. 'Destroy Erase Improve' is still my favorite album from them. This has to be one of my favorite vids of all time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZvPM9D4hws if you're a musician in a band and have ever been on the road touring you can really appreciate it...
i cant wait for *cough* black sabbath i mean heaven and hells new album to come out that is going to kick some serious *** but that tour will be amazing
Black Tide. They are young but pretty good. Check out there video Shockwave. http://sdk.blacktidemusic.igadev.com/player/default.aspx/mid/1142
I am still waiting for that damn Pagan to respond to my question about them earlier in the thread. Their whole CD is pretty good
Got my tickets for Iron Maiden in Columbia, MD this morning!!!! 6-18-08 I get to go "SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME"!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"That damn Pagan"? They're pretty good. First I'm hearing of them. So far I like. Mine came in the mail today for Madison Square Garden June 15th! WOO HOO!!!
For all the Maiden fans, they were on the SUndance Channel's AWESOME series "Live at Abbey Road" last week. They did "Hallowed Be Thy Name" and "Brighter Than a Thousand Suns" along with being interviewed. Here...check it out! Interview I Interview II Brighter Than a Thousand Suns Hallowed Be Thy Name
Since we started recording the album bro between lyric writing, recording, and rehearsing for the shows we're doing I haven't had much time to look for new bands. Once we're done I'll be back on track. I do have one band for you to check out though. Circus Maximus
I got ROYALLY screwed this week by Ticketbastard. I got online to get Maiden tix literally 10 seconds after they went on sale. The floor was sold out and all the lower bowl sections that are worth sitting in were sold out. I could either pay $80.00 a ticket to sit in the upper deck or wait until the show approaches and pay $150.00 per to sit where I want and buy from a "broker".....I choose to buy from a broker and actually sit somewhere good. I hate Ticketbastard with a passion.
Bro, don't hate Ticketmaster, hate the scalpers. I found out that scalpers have been joining the band's fan clubs so they can get in on the fan club ticket presales. I got third level up for $80, that's all there were when I signed on. They're on tour now with Symphony X. Damn what a bill.
Bumping thread.... I've been listening to alot of Amorphis recently, both new and old material... Eventhough their overall style has somewhat changed through the years I have always been a fan of this band. They were very influential in developing my musical taste during my teens until today, much like some of my other favorites Death, In Flames, and At The Gates.
One of my favorite guitar solo duels....Jeff Loomis is the man, with the exception of the great one Chuck Schuldiner (R.I.P) of course (Anyways, for those that don't know him, he's the second guitarist to play in this video. Both guitarists in this vid are from the band Nevermore) and yes Pagan I still love me some Malmsteen too.
my favorite Lamb of God song right now... Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake they have a dope Marine voice-over talking about the process for urban warfare.... its bad-*** because the music is excellent and the voice-over really hits home with me. they didn't make a video for it, but here is the audio. *Note: BAD-*** change of song & guitar riffs occur at 3 minutes into the track. Pagan, InFlames, take a listen and tell me what you think of the part that starts at 3 minutes.
yeah i'm kinda torn on them.... the music is bar-none some of my FAVORITE metal... but i'm not a big fan of the cookie monster vocals. The only bands i think that "pull off" cookie monster are Fear Factory and Meshuggah (on a limited basis). sad.....
Hey tex, I just saw in the other thread that you like trance as well. You may want to check out the band Blood Stain Child from Japan, they are a metal/trance/techno mix. It's definitely an acquired taste and not really to my liking, but you may dig it.
That really all depends on the genre of metal you like. Death, Black, Doom, etc. wouldn't be the same with clean vocals, in fact probably wouldn't even exist. It's all about personal preference, and I like my metal with growls, and lots of them.
I'm glad someone does! I can't stand the bastard lately. PS - We might be opening for him soon. Changing gears....never was a big fan of Nightwish. Now they have a new singer, and toned down on the "operatic" Style./ Good stuff.
Figured this could maybe be interesting for y'all... the movie is opening at the New York Underground Film Festival, and there is a DVD release planned for later this year. Here's the Trailer though: Heavy Metal in Baghdad

L.O.G is one of my favorites...can't keep them out of my cd player. it is amazing to watch them play live on the killadelphia dvd. randy's voice is awesome, but definitely an aqquired taste. i didn't like guiness the first time i tried it as well! lol! i just ordered ian chrisite's book 'sound of the beast'. it is an unbelievable timetable of heavy metal. i have been hitting the 'doom' genre really hard lately. my dying bride's new album is just awesome! check out their myspace page to see more live video.
Despised Icon. another one of my new favorites...you have to watch the whole video, amazing musicians!
Here are some other great doom bands to check out: Swallow the Sun Candlemass Paradise Lost (early material) Solitude Aeturnus Thorns of the Carrion Katatonia Anathema (early material) Draconian Tristitia Daylight Dies Theatre of Tragedy (early material) Novembers Doom also check out MDB's older stuff, which I prefer over their newer sound.
Anyone remember this oldie but goodie??? It was Heavy metal before Heavy Metal
of course it couldn't be a HM thread without some SOAD!
cheers bro! i really like Katatonia a lot. i also just bought novembers doom's new cd. i also like mdb's older stuff too, but check out the myspace page and watch the live show...that's what really got me!
I'm so there. My girl and I got smokin' seats the day they went on sale. I'm going strictly for "In Flames" to be honest. I've always been a Megadeth fan but I've found that Mustaine's voice live just does not so it for me, they are a much better studio band. Speaking of In Flames, what do you think of "Sense of Purpose"? I like it but, I'm one of the In Flames fans that prefers the "newer" stuff over the older stuff (I know, sacrilege)....LOL! Should be a good month and a half for shows for me. I'm seeing Queens of the Stone Age at the end of April, Gigatour in May and Maiden in June...can't wait.
