Well, why do you think I was asking him?? But I was mainly asking him if we will be aggressive. Didnt say they did.Trading can mean moving up to get a big time player...well too me anyway.
Well we are trying to help you too. Will we be agressive? Last year was most we ever spent in a offseason so unless a sudden change than yes we will be. We are not trading picks unless its absolutly one sided or the pick has little value (Very late pick).
I am still waiting on my question which is on the first page. He is probably busy with two AFC East teams in the playoffs
The old Dolphins fight song is atrocious. During the 2007 season, when you're dropping Super Bowl references after a Jay Feely field goal makes it 21-3 in the third quarter, you have to laugh. The new version of that song was worse. I can stomach the Jimmy Buffett song. The lyrics are awful, but the tune seems to get the fans going.
My money is on Al Groh. http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/9063/groh-sounds-eager-to-rejoin-with-parcells
The Bills and Lynch have to be at the end of the line, but not because of Jackson. Lynch has a ton of baggage and he's one of the most immature adults I've ever been around. And since I cover the NFL, that's saying something. I'm a huge fan of Lynch the running back, but if I'm a GM, I don't want him anywhere near my locker room.
Because I love it when people whine about not getting their questions answered like I'm a trained monkey who owes you this information, let me give you some special attention, Skeet. Yeremiah Bell. Not good enough to be the top inside backer on a 3-4 defense.
I don't mind the roof. I'm for anything that makes a stadium look different. The Dolphins stadium is pretty generic. The roof gives it a signature look.
Us reporters don't get to sample the stadium fare too often. They feed us in the press box, but it's not the same stuff you guys get. We usually get a limited buffet before the game and hot dogs at halftime. Nothing special.
Sorry I got to this one late. My honest answer would have been that both are possible, but I hadn't heard anything ... and I hadn't heard anything until I got the press release about Pasqualoni today. From what I understand, there were some stunned people at team headquarters today. A lot of people didn't see it coming.
Tim I know you say Al Groh is your bet. My bet is Mike Zimmer, I don't know why, but if we wanted Groh, we could have had him the past few weeks. The timing just seems weird to me. The Bengals lose, Zimmer is free (and he did work with Parcells). Whats your though on Zimmer as a possibility?
I agree. I haven't seen any NFL quarterback ability out of Pat White. ANY position? I don't think he's big enough to play anything other than kicker ... or maybe holder.
I don't recall writing anything negative about the Pennington signing or bringing Williams back. I favored the Pennington signing (I was already with ESPN by then) and didn't have an opinion on Williams because I was too new to the beat at the Palm Beach Post and hadn't covered him before. One thing you'll learn about me, my eyes glaze over when people start talking about officiating conspiracy theories. Yes, the Dolphins got hosed on a few. But nobody's out to get you.
Tim, With the uncapped year, do you see some Franchises that are having revenue problems breaking through the old Salary Cap Floor? And will there be big names released to cut costs on contracts for marginally productive veterans? And any thoughts on who may be released?
That's an awful lot to digest. I might have to absorb this and get back to you. But my general impression of the Dolphins O-line is that it's very good. Top five? I'll have to give that some thought. Jets and Giants take up two spots.
Tim. Another interesting subject. Pure speculation..but the off season begun for us Im not asking what are the chances of Wilfork ending up in Miami, im asking what are the odds that he walks in New England?
I have a few calls out on that. I'm checking around to see what the likelihood is. Hard to say right now, though.
The only time I can use the word "slim" in regard to Vince Wilfork. If the Patriots don't lock him up, they'll franchise tag him.
Tough one ... In that either-or situation I'd go with McClain. I think he's going to be special and the type of player you can center your defense around. As for the second, they need to get fundamentally sound on defense. That means better tackling and, maybe with experience, tighter play from the cornerbacks.
One more question (if you don't mind). When a team puts a value on a RFA, say a 1 and a 3, if they retain them, does the team have to offer a contract to that player? A contract of a set size? If a RFA has a #1 and #3, and they keep them, do they then have to pay them say 5 million a year as the value of a player worth a #1 and #3? Otherwise they could just tag everyone as #1 and #3's and then pay them whatever they feel like offering?
I just found out that there is a tiered system, a team places a value on a player, if they retain them, they have to offer them a contract of a predetermined amount for 1 season.
What is your opinion on Lex Hilliard. Could he be a solid #2 back in the league? His balance is iffy, and he seems to go down easy, but he is a downhill runner, any chance he could be trade bait?
while we are on the subject of shoddy offciating: Do you think that we could see an NFL referee betting scandal within the next few years? If Donagahy (and others according to Donaghy) managed to get away with it, who is to say that Hocculi isnt doing the same thing? * I am only singling out Hocculi because he's the only ref whose name I can remember.
There is a conspiracy. Miami got hosed on a few in the Saints game alone. After watching the way the refs called games this season, I'm less of a fan of the NFL. You would think that the calls would get better as the years go on. They do not.
Tim, i know people get really caught up in winning seasons, moral victories, building for the future etc etc......but let me cut right to the chase here.....we have had countless number of QBs since marino left, head coaches as well.......guys like ronnie brown and yerimiah bell are becoming what zach and jt did....they just are getting older and older on our roster. my question is......is tony the guy.......will sparano be our coach for awhile? is henne for real? are we set at those core positions (head coach and qb) and do you see henne/sparano combo....leading the miami dolphins to a friggin superbowl? (something i havent seen in my entire life-23 years) thanks bud.
Cut to the frigging chase why don't you and spoil all our fun!?! By the way Tim I still would like my question (long as it may have been) to get an answer as well. Let me also say I for one am very excited to see you become a fixture of this site. I always liked your work and always thought we had the best guy representing our division. PS. I'm not just saying that to get you to answer MY question either =)
Appreciate your discussions in here, Tim. Some really good questions in here also. Pretty much asked/answered any Miami-related questions that I have right now. Ravens win the Superbowl. Agree or disagree?
