Great career. I wonder will the lack of playoff games keep him from the hall of fame for a while. I think this wont be the only one announced this year. He hasnt given much detail why but players are definitely scared of all the new information on CTE and will not risk further damage even for millions of dollars.
He is leaving about 20M on the table for 2016 alone. No question he has been smart with his money and realizes that your well being years down the road isn't worth the price. Good for him, bad for Matt Stafford.
I think he has really bad ankles and bad knees. Not 100% sure but I believe I heard that. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
Another Lion player with a career too short for his talent level. He has always been one of my favorite players, wish him luck.
Between this and all the San Francisco retirings last year, combined with concussion and general pain fears, we may see more "surprise" retirings.
Guy should of toughed it out one more year for $20 million... That's too much money to walk away from, even if you've been smart with your money.
I just figure that he is either in that much pain, or has grown to dislike playing that much that 20 million dollars isn't worth it. I can't put myself in those shoes and it seems crazy, but it is what it is. (Unless its all a big ploy to try and get out of Detroit).
