Well we've had a few games this year with historically bad offensive performances so I can't say its all that shocking but the timing of it is interesting. I mean the season is over now so what is really the point now?

Unlike the past firings of Philbin and Coyle, this one comes a bit too late to save the season.

After the last 3 weeks of complete incompetence from him, and the entire offense, you just can't keep doing the same thing over and over. With a coaching change looming in the offseason, it makes sense. Lazor likely wouldn't have been back anyways.

I just read Zac Taylor is the new OC? Is this serious? I'm convinced now, that this team is tanking the rest of the season on purpose. He's got ZERO business being the QB's coach, now he's the interim OC? Wow..

Probably thought Philban was handcuffing Lazor. Wanted to see what he had without him.

...We are 11 games in Brandon. Bringing in an outside source would be idiotic. Who would you have be the OC for the remainder of the year?

Al Saunders, but I really don't mind at this point. I'm just glad they finally made the move the should have made with Philbin and Coyle.

I think some will be sad to see that it is the QB as much as it is the OC...... QB is the one that decides to throw the ball 5 yards short of first down yards needed.

You guys all complain when he throws to the guy who's actually past the sticks, and the guy gets crushed. It's not like we have a bunch of guys running routes past the first down marker.

It was Lazor. We'll see if the routes change at all with him gone.

Tannehill has had a horrible year, he still has the tools though. Even the Broncos used Osweiler to run the ball inside the 10 last night, like Cam does every single week. Tannehill ran a 4.6 at his pro day, f****** Lazor didn't run Tannehill once this year inside the 10. We even threw it 4 times once when we had a first and goal on the 1, Lazor was absolutely wretched. Chip Kelly you're next!

Saunders came on about a month and a half ago. There is no chance he knows this offense like Taylor.

I'm a lot more optomistic now than I was yesterday that we can actually use the final 5 games to judge our talent on offense. Sane gameplans vs lousy teams. *crosses fingers*

Al Saunders? The guy we brought in after Philbin was fired to help Lazor. He's at least done it before. He's in house, presently on staff as an offensive consultant or whatever title they gave him.

Zac Taylor has no business being in this position IMO.

Not a fan of the move. This past offseason we were talking about him as a bright young guy who could/should replace Philbin. Short memories. My guess is he'll end up somewhere else and be successful.

My other guess is that in a few years we'll look back on a list of coaches who got fired because they didn't have a good QB. Tannehill is on his way to earning that coach killer label.

when all the routes take players 5 yards of the sticks............................ seriously get a clue.

Also this firing is nice, but won't change anything, we still have the same playbook.

The guys been here barely more then a month. And you either want him to implement a new offense in week 13 or take over a offense he doesn't know much about?

    That seems ludicrous to me?

Im going to wait and see on Zac, he has been ordered to teach a certain way and evaluate based on others schemes. Maybe he has innovative plan that will open things up?

Not writing him off because of his old bosses mistakes.

Great news! Hopefully we see more emphasis on the run game and pass routes that go further than four yards

Nobody said anything about installing a new offense. He was hired to help work with Lazor on what we have. He's been an OC before. Lets not pretend this would have been a monumental task for him to take over gameplanning and playcalling based on what's in the current Dolphins playbook.

Either way, it's irrelevant at this point.

Zac has a chance to show he's not as completely incompetent as everyone thinks he is. Who knows, maybe he's got an understanding of how to fix things, working so closely with the QB's and the offense. Who knows.. It's not like it matters much, the season is lost.

How do you think he originally got the QB coach job, with no qualifications? Not to mention how he was able to retain that position even with a new OC after Sherman. Philbin and Sherman were tight, remember?

I think it is fairly obvious what they have on offense already.

Starting with the OL, they have an above average center and two solid tackles when Albert and James are healthy. They continue to need upgrades at the guard positions and they have no reliable backups along the offensive line.

At running back, they have as much talent as any team in the division. This position is not part of the problem, but part of the solution, IMO.

The WR position is also as strong as any WR in the division. Landry, Matthews, Stills, and Parker would be a top five receiving corp with an elite QB.

At TE the Dolphins have talent, but the OC or Tannehill haven't been utilizing this talent during the season.

So basically the talent on the offense isn't nearly as bad as it has looked so far this season. I tend to think this has a lot to do with both Tannehill and Lazor. With Lazor gone, Tannehill now needs to step up because his excuses are quickly fading away.

Yes, I think the offense's major problem is coaching. Our defense is a little bit better, but they need a talent infusion next year more than the offense. Both sides should benefit from coaching changes.
