Article may be a tad too harsh on Tanny, but many valid points. Many of us have already voiced our displeasure with Ryan's lack of awareness, but be sure and read what Bob Griese had to say!! http://phinphanatic.com/2015/11/24/dolphins-questions-still-remain-at-qb/
I agree with all this and I feel this guy will be holding a clipboard somewhere else in two years but now you have started another post thats going to last for days with same posters arguing about the same **** over and over.
I dont think so, id say most of the board kinda see's the writing on the wall. I think to a man we all recognize that we have a offense Cordinator and an OL Who are not doing their quarterback any favors, but at the same time Ryan is a problem too. If they do not agree with those three things at this point?? I would love to hear why. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm sorry I posted an article with a telling line from a former all time great Dolphins QB, I should've just kept Bob's opinion to myself.
The very simple fact of the matter is that when the online plays well, so does Tannehill. That's pretty inarguable at this point. That doesn't mean Tannehill is the greatest, but most of the critisms will go away if the line plays at an average level. Then if you solve the OC issue......
So? Some nobody website with an article from a never-been nobody has an opinion? He is nothing close to an expert. I will write an article now.
The argument is tired because we constantly have to make it because you guys pretend it's not really an issue. Still waiting for someone to give me an example of a qb thriving with a crap oline, crap OC, easily abandoned running game and he's not allowed to audible out of the play.
People have u just read what u want to read. But I'm not getting pulled into ur little debate it's gotten real old reading these arguments over and over.
Lol typical. Start crap by calling people out but then act like they are the ones that are the problem. Happy Thanksgiving!
It's tired because you have no answer for it. Tannehill may not be elite. But Tannehill has been done no favors in regards to oline and playcalling.
Well in my opinion Tannehill will be elsewhere in 2017. If want to think otherwise that's fine but it's ur opinion. U and me are not Gms or scouts just Monday morning qbs. I just don't see the point of the same arguments post after post with same people over and over again.
PRO TIP #376 If you don't like a thread then don't help continue its existence by posting in it. You're welcome.
You mean how I said the article was a little harsh?? The important factor was what Bob Griese said. Please understand what i say before you reply that way.
It's just that it is written by some nobody who has no expertise. Why even quote it? Why even look at that site? LOL
Not disagreeing as a whole but Im curious as to those numbers and how they correlate with other qbs. I mean we all realize all Qbs are better with protection than without.
It was on Facebook , and again its Bob's comments that raised my eyebrow. I have my opinion of Ryan and the dude who wrote this article won't be swaying it one way or the other.
Of course they are. But again, he's further hindered even more. How can an accurate assessment be made? You can't compare him to anyone else. Like you said before Brees doesn't have a great oline, but he can audible. Wilson doesn't have a great oline but the commit to the run. Honestly, if the oline played at just an average level in pass pro do we really look at Tannehill as a problem? I say no and there is actually a string of games to back this up.
Anyone watching Matt Stafford today? Dude will likely throw 2 ints by the time its said and done, but already he has made 2 fantastic plays with his feet and made a throw that you won't see 5 Qbs in this league make.
Me too, but thats because Matt is very undervalued by the average fan. He simply can do things on the field that most of the league can not.
Hasn't that always been Stafford? Feast or famine? His accuracy is awful some games, but he's definitely a gunslinger. His team is 3-7 with 15 TD, 12 INT, and an 84 rating going into this game (obviously this game will help). Just as inconsistent if not more than Tannehill.
Why do I have the feeling every QB we see today will be pointed out as better than RT. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Actually Tannehill is a TON more consistent. Consistently average. I think you can live with that if you have a good team around you, we do not. Matthew at his best is on a way different level than Ryan has ever been and maybe ever will be, at the same time he has had a lot of games worse than Ryan ever has.
In the NFL, it is the play of the QB who ultimately makes or breaks the head coach. That is why without a decent QB in Cleveland, Belichick was fired after a few years. In New England he has had Brady for well over a decade and he is now viewed as perhaps the greatest HC in NFL history. All the the teams who ultimately make the playoffs do so because of the quality play of their QB throughout the regular season. After 4 years of inconsistent play at the QB position, I just don't see the next head coach placing his job on the line by making Tannehill the future QB of this team. The new head coach will basically be stuck with Tannehill in 2016 because of his contract, but I suspect the search for the long term answer at the QB position will begin immediately after the new head coach is signed. I really will be totally shocked if Tannehill is still on the Dolphins roster when the 2017 regular season begins.
both he and ryan have been poorly coached, the difference to me is awareness in the pocket, situational football, and maneuvering in the pocket, and touch throws.. staffords issues is lazy mechanics which tells me he's poorly coached..and I dont think he's fully committed in the offseason.
Most QBs play great when the OLine is playing great. Its the QBs who can turn bad plays into good ones. RT is struggling with it this year, but I do feel a lot of the blame is on lazor. Hes not moving the pocket, or putting ryan on the run. That would help, but ryan still has huge holes in his game when it comes to awareness and pocket presence.
