I am think he has a real shot to win that starting job. He hasn't been perfect but he has been doing a great job out there. Best of luck to him.

"I've still got a lot of work to do, but at the same time it's completely up to the coaches," Turner said. "It doesn't matter what I think. I've just got to keep working and getting better every day at practice."

"He's getting better," Head Coach Joe Philbin said of Turner. "He's been taking a boatload of reps. He's worked his tail off and I think he's improved. This week will be another test for him. They've got some good football players inside and some good rushers. So it will be another step along the way."*

I really think that Billy Turner is getting better with each rep and he will be fine..Really want is puzzling to me is that he should be backing up Branden Albert since he is a lifetime left tackle. Thomas needs to stay at LG where he has been doing well.

Yeah I agree. Thomas should stay at guard.

this offensive line is the Achilles heel of the up-coming season.

Yet it's still probably better than Seattle's and no one is worrying about them.

I think that ship has sailed...he was basically handed a starting job and couldn't even secure it despite lackluster competition.

He's going to "win" the starting job by default, we have nobody else. He hasn't been doing a great job out there IMO. He's been below average. I watched the first half of the Carolina game again this morning, paying attention to him and Dallas Thomas. Thomas has been pretty decent actually. Billy Turner on the other hand, had more whiffs than you'd like to count against the scraps of Carolina's DL we were playing last weekend. It wasn't pretty for Turner. He's got a long ways to go with both run, and pass blocking IMO.

I don't have the Atlanta game to go back and watch, maybe he was ok there, but he left a lot to be desired from a RG in the Carolina game.. Again... just my opinion...

You need a time machine to look at the Atlanta game.

I do agree he didn't look good, however it doesn't mean he isn't going to improve. We will see. I look forward to seeing if he rebounds or not against Atlanta.

He is getting better. What I like about Turner is that he isn't satisfied with his performance; he wants to improve on his pass protection. It's probably me but I don't think he was below average. Y'all can breakdown players better than me so I could be wrong. I think he is going to be good for us.

They should have drafted Ali Marpet instead of Jordan Phillips, because the OG situation is a hot mess, 1 barely serviceable starter.

 Oops. I meant Chicago, but had Atlanta on the brain since we play them this weekend.

Sure, he can get better, no doubt about that. He's saying all the right things. Hopefully that's really his mentality and he keeps working on it. He was pretty bad against Carolina. I'm not big into player evaluation/breakdown etc. etc. However, I watched that first half this morning specifically to watch Thomas and Turner. There were at least 3 plays I can instantly recall where Turner completely whiffed on his man. Like, it was Tyson Clabo bad. There's a few others he was simply driven right back and overpowered. Probably due to bad technique. I can't tell you that much. All I can say, is when I saw a broken play, I hit rewind, and watched it again along the OL to see what happened. Turner, and Fox were the biggest culprits against Carolina.

That being said, there were also plays where Turner did a nice job. Held his block, got to the next level on a run or two. However, as I saw there were some pretty glaring terrible plays.

Also worth noting, Jawaun James, on the Tannehill option play... what an nice display of downfield blocking.

I am not sure I agree, but it does not matter. We did draft Phillips.

Those were very good points. Yes, I agree James did very well on that play!

Has anybody kept track of Marpet? How is he playing? I wanted him too but as you can see we didn't.
