One year deal, apparently. $4 million with playtime incentives.

    Also this from Salguero:
League source says Evan Mathis turned down a $5.5M deal from unnamed team because he wanted to play for a top contender.

yeah, that's realistic. any lineman that would provide even half the impact of Mathis would be cost prohibitive. would have been better to sign Mathis to 6 million a year rather than trade a top pick

Probably won't matter much, but if we lose to the Broncos in the playoffs because their OL is better than ours..............then, there should be a lynching.

I agree, but we whiffed on yet another upgrade, and we're less than 3 weeks away from trotting out the worst set of guards in the league. Desperation eventually sets in. I think we could land a big upgrade by sending out a 4th rounder.

I was concerned about the line but no so much now. I'm not saying they arrived but so far they do look promising.

I wonder what all those teams without Pro Bowl guards are gonna do now? Probably, just pack up and go home. I mean every team knows the key to championships is a Pro Bowl guard.

Wish they told us who that team that offered 5.5 million was, if it was us, then it would be so sweet if we end up with a better than Denver. I'm glad we don't have to hear about him any more though.

I think it is GB, could be Seattle, either one is using two of our cast off linemen

    Allen Barbre and Andrew Gardner

And making the playoffs, it is not the impossible dream that Turner or Thomas work out at the Guard slots, maybe even Sam Brenner

I don't think the first string O-line has even allowed a sack in the two preseason games have they?

They have. But they've had more running plays blown up in the backfield. Billy Turner is the biggest offender right now. He's really not ready to start.

Everything that happened last week was against Carolina's 2nd team defensive line. Three starters out and the fourth tore his Achilles early on. And Billy Turner was still whiffing against those guys.

We really won't face a good DL in preseason, so it'll be a bit tricky to guage things.

I'm really a bit upset at the non-signing of a pro bowl offensive lineman sitting there waiting for you to sign walking away and signing elsewhere - especially in the AFC. Our Oline is going to be a busted mess come week 8 after injuries. I have no faith in turner or Thomas. Ihope im wrong but I feel once again this is going to be the downfall of the offense. If the team were seriously trying to win now Mathis would have been signed.

Still optimistic we'll be better at guard than last year, cause how much worse could it get. But even then, if there isn't significant improvement I think something will give. Whether that be Tannehill's health, another dink and dunk offense that can't break through to being a really good offense, or the running game not being good enough to make up for some of that dink and dunk and we regress to being a mediocre offense. Idk, but I think one of those things will happen if the guards don't come through. And now there's less of a chance it can be fixed if things are bad.

With reports that Mathis didn't go to the highest bidder, my impression is that he chose to play for a 'sure' thing (Manning). We've got some hope, but Denver is an established power with a new coach that's naturally not on the hot seat.

There is no money to save for anyone, we are at the rollover from last year, there won't be rollover next year, so if we don't use it this year, it's just gone.

I would have paid him 7 mil to lure him here for 1 year if that's what it took, that would not in any way effect next year.

It's not rocket science, the Fins are at 142.4 mil with top 51, the cap is 143.2, thats less than a million left, but there are 53 players, so add 2 lesser contracts and you'll eat that million up, so no rollover for next year to "save" to sign other players.

We do however have 10 mil in rollover from last year, that money could be used to sign someone.

The Dolphins cap is not 143.2M. It is 143.2+whatever they rolled over. Thats $152M. They can carry over whatever they don't spend from that $152M. There isn't a delineation.

The NFL cap is 143.2, that is static, it applies to all teams, teams can rollover unused cap space based on the NFL salary cap, which is 143.2, the Fins are at 142.4 with the top 51, not including the other 2 players that will fall under the cap once the 53 man roster deadline is reached, and the PS players, which also falls under the cap, that's going to be another 2 mil, putting the Fins into the rollover from last year, and you cannot rollover the unused portion of your rollover into next year, hence, no rollover for next year, no money to save for other players.

The NFL cap is aboslutely not static. Team Salary Cap = (Base Salary Cap) + (Carryover) +/- (Adjustments)

The Miami Dolphins salary cap is $153M for 2015, pending any adjustments from 2014.

Please cite the language in the CBA that says the bolded? I've seen nothing that remotely suggests that. The CBA is very clear.

The NFL cap is the NFL cap, it doesn't change for each team, it's a simple concept, the cap is 143.28, each teams individual cap is dictated by how much rollover they had from the previous season, based on the NFL salary cap.

    "The CBA is very clear" That is a wildly inaccurate statement that pretty much proves you have never looked at that convoluted, complicated lawyers prattle of a document, it's 254 pages without adding the other 46 pages of appendices;

"Carrying Over Room. A Club may “carry over” Room from oneLeague Year to the following League Year by submitting notice in writing signed by the owner to the NFL no later than fourteen (14) days prior to the start of the next LeagueYear indicating the maximum amount of Room that the Club wishes to carry over. TheNFL shall promptly provide a copy of any such notice to the NFLPA. The amount of Room carried over will be adjusted downward based on the final Room available after the year-end reconciliation."

This is all it says about carry over, you then have to cross reference, then cross reference, etc, then combine all the different facts, adjustments and so forth to get the final meaning to this "vanilla" outlining, I did it years ago, there is no individual line to cite what your asking for.

Perhaps you could find something to counter what I said and post it, and I'd thank you for correcting what I have had as false knowledge, and I do mean that sincerely, this isn't sarcasm.

I've read it over many times. The language you posted says it all. . That is the only language about carryover. The year-end reconciliation is for dead-money, retirements, injury settlements, bonuses, trades, etc.

Easy way to see this in practice is look at the Jaguars, who have carried over consistently, and have a salary cap of $167M+ this year.

Theres nothing to cross reference or combine. It is simple. You carry over and add it to the base cap. That is your cap number. If theres language you want to include, then cite it. You can't just say theres language that needs to be cross referenced or combined without actually providing it.

Logically, NFL teams can't just have cap space disappear because that would usurp their spending requirements.

The Jags have a 268 mil cap, because they only spent 120 mil in salary last year, which means 20+ mil in rollover, 143 + 25 = 168, there is no carrying over multiple years of rollover.

There is no disappearance of cap, it is 143.28 for the 2015 year.
