I've been reading a lot lately that people have issues with Flash and that it may be on its way out. Can someone explain, in layman's terms, what the problem is. Lots of websites use it, and it seems like a great way to make short animated videos, especially if they're interactive. It also seems like most Flash animations use relatively little bandwith. Is there something better out there?

It is a resource hog. Because its files are big, it slows down the speed of whatever you're using to get on the net.

Is there something out there that does all of the same interactive things through the browser? (I use Chrome). Flash animations seem like such a useful way to do all shorts of things. And they load so quickly.

HTML 5 I believe will do all things Flash did. I believe that is the direction everything is headed
As well,I think there are some security issues with flash..
