According to his "official" college stats, he didn't catch a pass in 2014...

well i immediately notice in his video the blocking ability downfield against smaller, quicker guys, he stays square to his target fairly well for a guy his size. Pretty good feet IMO. Yeah the level of competition is a question, but he still has to stay on a little defensive back who is going to be quicker than he is...and he does it well.

The thing that jumps out to me about him is a he's a huge guy who moves exceptionally well for his size. That's what I noticed about Dion Sims when he was at Michigan State. Sims also has very soft hands, which makes him even more rare. Those types of guys are great late-round targets. Semisch needs to lose weight in his lower half and tone up overall. If he worked hard and got in significantly better shape, he would be an absolute beast in the NFL. But, he's gotta work for it. He isn't there right now.

Reminds me of the Giants TE Boss in their run to the Super Bowl. Nobody knew him either...

I'd like to know his backstory as well.

You catch a glimpse on that first highlight of two DB's trying to climb the Empire state building.

I'd say he's pretty much a long shot to make the team.

If I had to guess, we'd keep three tight ends. So Cameron and Sims are locks and you've got four guys battling for one spot. Of those four:

Robinson (who had done nothing) has the most tenure in terms of reps in practice, then it's Stoneburner (also nothing), followed by Lynch (done nothing) and finally Semisch (once again nothing). But if you factor in Cameron's injury history (well documented with the concussions) and Lynch coming off a season on the IR, suddenly you've got a better chance of making the 53, or at least the practice squad as a "break glass in case of emergency" situation if someone suddenly goes down. So now you've got four guys (who have done nothing and are very inexperienced) battling for 2 spots, one on the 53 and one on the practice squad.

Semisch impressed enough from his tryout during rookie minicamp to catch the eye of the coaches and get signed to the 90 man roster. To even do that is fairly long odds all things considered. But he's on their radar already due to that impression. But again, all things being equal, he's got a 50% chance to at least make the practice squad. It wouldn't shock me... none of these four guys are standing above the rest at the moment.

After watching about a half of the Highlights video I mentioned that he got open several times, raved like crazy and didn't get the ball. His QB was either that bad or didn't like him (or throw to him). I cant rate the level of competition but what I saw is that the opponent player he blocked never got to the ball carrier or the QB. Speed and reaction seems to be not that great. But his amazing size, good hands, steady blocking and the ability to catch passes with defenders around him makes him an intriguing project. Hope he gets a chance to surprise us.

Are you certain he is really going to be groomed at TE?? Or are they going in a different direction and having him hidden on the PS while he bulks up and becomes our LT of the future?

Nice post ! Don't anyone give up on Lynch just yet. I watched allot of his games and he is great at running the seam route..tracks the ball well and will fight for it. At 6'5" and good hands he is a really good RZ target as well.
