Peyton gets rid of the ball faster than average, but it's still a huge loss. I see the team falling apart after Peyton leaves.
It's all setting up for an ugly end for Elway. I don't think he should have came back to the Broncos, the guy is a Denver legend and for it all to collapse in his hands isn't fair to him, his legacy should be his playing career in Denver, not his management career. And unfortunately, if things do go bad, the fans will turn on him with insults and calling for his head.
They went to a Super Bowl and another AFC title game under him as team president. That's highly successful! How in any way does that tarnish his legacy?
When Peyton retires all that is over, they will have a bunch of overpaid and overrated players on high contracts and Elway may walk follow Peyton right after.
Who is overrated, exactly? They have some good players on that team. And I think they've done a good job drafting. Once Peyton retires, they've still got a very capable offense with Thomas, Sanders, and Anderson as the big 3. And they've got some nice pieces on defense too. They're not going to turn into Indy if Peyton hangs it up.
