I live in New York amongst Jets fans, and a Jets fan friend lamented how much 2015 is going to suck unless his team finds a QB and stays out of the basement of the AFC East. The musical chairs in our division means that only Philbin wasn't once the head coach of another AFC East rival. But it is worst for the Jets. Belichick is their former coordinator and head coach for an afternoon. Rex is their former head coach. And Tannenbaum is their former GM. They're surrounded by the ghosts of mediocre Jets pasts. Just think of how much it stings when we've seen Welker, Ninkovich, and Izzo earning glory in New England when they were afterthoughts here. Imagine looking up from the basement of the AFC East and every single team above you is beating you with your former employees. Ouch. I'd feel bad if I didn't hate the Jets so damn much.
I'm going to feel better after the draft on the Jets sucking this year, in the back of my head I keep fearing they are going to pull a blockbuster and get Brees...the Jets honestly are built right now to win now. They ain't got time to develop QBs or waste time going with Geno.
I get your point Ronnie. I'm not predicting they suck, but the only way you feel okay about former employees in your division is if you beat em. I'm not particularly afraid Bowles will have success in NY, especially without a QB, but I'll really hate it to finish behind them. Which could happen with Geno. Brees isn't going anywhere. Teams don't trade away elite QBs without a replacement already in house.
You probably right about Brees but like I said I can't believe they are set at QB right now, they have to be smoking my Kush if they think they can win with what they have. I think they will make a push to get a top QB and I bet they will be willing to use their 6th overall pick as a bargaining chip.
Any moderator who would like to change the thread title to "It could suck to be a Jets fan in 2015 more than it already does." You have my blessing.
you left out where you star corner back had to go to a division rival to win a Superbowl ring. But you do have Fitzmagic now.
You guys really need to put things in perspective. It's been 14 years since Miami has won a playoff game. They haven't had a winning record since 2008. In the last 10 years they have exactly 2 winning seasons. That's a decade of losing. Jimmy Johnson was their last good head coach (not counting Bowles' interim gig <wink>). What's it going to take to realize that your franchise has been far less enjoyable to root for than the Jets for quite a while now? Non-winning seasons? Choking away playoff chances late in the season? Not seeing your team play in January? Some of you guys need to stop living in the distant past. The fact is that as unsuccessful as the Jets have been in the past decade, the Dolphins have been worse. What counts as enjoyment these days? Finishing with a better records than the Jets? Hey, that's happened 3 times in the past 10 years. Bust out the champagne!!
We need to stop living in the past yet all you did is cite the past, lol. I'm pretty sure we're talking about moving forward here. The Dolphins could be successful with Tannebaum, the Bills with Ryan and Patriots just won a superbowl with Bill/Revis.
I specifically wrote "distant past." The way some people act, you would think Marino is still playing and Miami is in the playoffs every year. I get your point, but the possibilities other AFCE teams being successful with their "Jet ties" doesn't mean all that much to me. Heck, the Jets could be successful with Todd Bowles, a former Miami coach who didn't even get considered by Miami before they hired Queasy. How about the thought of him being a success? That would be brutal for a Miami fan, especially when they picked Queasy over him. Amiright?
The fact of the matter is the Jets will most likely be a very tough team this year. However, they are the Jets. The bottom rung of the NFL world. Not necessarily because the team sucks, which they do often, but because their fans suck. Other than maybe the Eagles, Jets fans (the majority, you seem pretty decent Bickety) are the biggest douchebags in all of football.
Fair enough, but my contention is that the Jets haven't sucked just as bad. I feel Miami has been worse! The Jets have at least managed some playoff wins for their fanbase in that past decade. When your not winning superbowls you need to hang your hat on something, lol
Did you miss the part where I stated that Miami has had a better record 3 times in the past 10 years? If the Jets suck often, what does that say about the Phins?!
Did you miss the part where I wrote that it matters not what the Jets as a team are like, it's their ****ty fans?
Well it had to be done. I'm nominating this for post of the year. Sent from my SM-G928V using Tapatalk
