Cool! I think James could be good! Delmas is an excellent veteran for the lockeroom!

Especially since he was instrumental in bringing Suh here. I think this part of his reward.

Reports were Delmas lobbied for Miami with Suh.

I like bringing Delmas back. He played well until he got injured and the team noticed his absence significantly.

Btw, reports say it is a 1 year deal for $3.5M.

Reminder that with Louis Delmas in the game the Dolphins defense allowed 19.6 points per 60 minutes. That was 17.5 points per 60 minutes with Reshad Jones in the game next to Delmas.

When Delmas got hurt, the defense allowed 38.7 points per 60 minutes.

I'm really confident in our secondary.

Grimes, Delmas, and Reshad are good-to-great starters. That leaves us with a "need" at our 2nd CB spot, but I think either Taylor or Will Davis will lock that spot up this season barring any injury, plus we got Brice McCain this off season. I'd like to stay away from defense in the draft, other than maybe a depth pick at LB. Other than that, I wouldn't be against going straight after playmakers and OL help in this draft as it's loaded with both. I think we're a single draft away from a complete team on paper.

Dolphins fans and team owe Louis Delmas a huge thanks for selling the organization and city to Suh.

Adam Beasley reported this as well.

I'm really excited to see our defense going into next year. Bringing Delmas back is good to welcome Suh into locker room even though I doubt Suh would of had trouble with that, but, Delmas probably can be a good transition player for Suh to get used to the locker room, giving Suh a familiar face and someone to maybe lean on.

Wonder how many points per 60 min will the defense allow with Delmas, Jones and Suh in the game together...

Very happy about this. We had a massive hole at S and bringing him back made perfect sense. He knows the system and was productive in it. As always, the injuries concern me. But it was the only move that we had at this position.

I love the way Delmas plays, and I am happy we resigned him. While Delmas absence contributed to 38.7 pts per 60, there many reasons for that astronomical number.

Very, very, very happy about Delmas who is ridiculously underrated as CK pointed out.

To mean more than anything, means we MUST draft his heir apparent this year. Let the rook learn under him.

very happy about delmas, but sadly we must have some good back-up plan, considering his injury history... maybe Thomas? last year was quite unlucky, losing both of them to serious injuries

I wouldn't say a young 28 particularly because of how long he's been in the league as well as the fact he had shoddy knees even before he came to Miami and tore his ACL. There's a reason last year was just a one year deal for relatively low coinage. This year same.

While I love the signing of Delmas and hope he is fully recovered from his injury. I have to disagree with you regarding the draft.

I am not nearly as confident as you seem to be about the CB position opposite Grimes. I don't see Davis as a starter in the NFL. He just has too many holes in his game IMO and if he even makes the team, it will probably be more for special teams and secondary depth.

I have always liked Taylor's skill set, but he just seems to be injured all the time. If he can stay healthy, he may be able to fill the other starting CB position, but I think the Dolphins still need to use a draft pick to bring in more competition in the secondary.

If Waynes should drop to them in the first round, the Dolphins would be wise to draft him.

I'm not sure why you assume all they need is depth at the LB position. What they need is an impact middle linebacker, which they do not have on the roster at this time.

They also need a LB who can step in and provide solid play when Misi goes down with yet another injury. In fact I would love to see them draft a LB who could come in and replace Misi. I have just never been that high on Misi.

Perhaps McCain can step up this year and win a starting spot, but it concerns me that the coaching staff showed less and less faith in him as the season went along last year.

At this time the only LB I feel comfortable with is Jenkins.

I do agree they need to draft offensive line help also. With only 6 picks in the draft at this time, they need to spend 4 of those picks on the defensive side of the ball and the remaining two picks on the offensive line.

The only offensive playmakers I would really have any interest in them drafting in the first round are, White, Cooper, or Gurley. I don't think they have any chance of getting White or Cooper. Gurley may still be there that at 14 and if he is, I would love that pick.

If they can't get one of the three playmakers I listed. I would prefer they concentrate on the defense and the OL in this years draft and hope that Landry, Stills, Cameron, and if they sign Crabtree, are able to provide the receiving yardage. While Miller, Williams, and James provide the yards on the ground and in short passes out of the backfield.

I don't think Miami will be drafting safety early, if at all. They have some depth and perhaps even promise in both Aikens and Thomas, hell maybe even Don Jones. What they needed was a good starter and they managed that by resigning Delmas.

Really? You guys excited about Delmas??? We just threw away much needed cash just now. Now we pay people to sit on the couch and nurse I injuries? He's never been healthy with Detroit and he wasn't healthy in his one year in Miami. Hickey has made decisions that make sense, this isn't one of them. It's a dumb one.

Glad they got Delmas back. Really need him to come back strong since the team couldn't get a FS in free agency and the draft isn't strong with DBs. How is his progress in rehab? Will he be ready week 1?

I think that's a bit of a rosey projection. Taylor and Davis have not proven yet they're capable. Grimes is the oldest starting CB in the NFL and could hit the wall very soon if he hasn't already. And even if he holds up they'll need to start grooming a replacement. The team could probably also use another solid DT. The kids behind Suh and Mitchell have some potential, but that's about all it is right now.

Excitement is the wrong word, we're relieved he's back, because he fills a hole. We obviously need to address the position for the future but he's not here long term. And by the way no team in the NFL can field all pro's in every position.

Glad to have Delmas back. I was excited to have him signed last year. However, aside from the pick 6 at Jacksonville, he didn't supply the big plays he was known for while he was a Lion. Still, as mentioned, the D was much better with him back there. I suppose we'll be watching his rehab the rest of the offseason just like we are Albert. It was reported somewhere that he may need to start the season on the PUP.

Has anyone seen the contract details? Another one year deal? Or maybe structured like Cameron's (or Finnegan or Stark's last year) where there's a second year structured where he'd either be extended or cut?

Why dont we all take a deep breathe and start over.

Anyway, I do disagree that it is a bad signing. Yes he has some pretty serious injury concerns but when he does play he plays very well and is a hard hitter. Do I expect him to play 16 or hopefully more, No. Hasnt been his history, but I'll take what ever he can give us on the field. I don't think they had a whole lot of choice, Safety in particular is extremely weak in this draft.

    Welcome aboard!

I like him as a player and what he brings, he does play hard. But I'm so tired of the organization trying to get injured players on the cheap like Delmas, Knowshon etc.. It's disheartening to see solid play just to have these kinds of players calling it a season and still getting paid. There are injuries with everything but then there are certain athletes who injure themselves turning over in their sleep and it's time the management team tries to realize who they are
