per the official Dolphins Instagram. It's a bit funny given that they insisted on starting Dallas Thomas for weeks despite him being a disaster-level player.
Conflicted on this one. Probably going to be the best veteran depth tackle we could get for peanuts. Which is important with the potential Suh cap number, the Dolphins simply won't have the luxury to pay 2M+/year for quality veteran depth. I still expect to see Smith cut. But at the same time the coaches didn't want to put this guy on the field last year.
Unbelievably bad move considering Brandon Albert's age and durability issues. It's not like Fox is going to start in a couple years when Albert retires or gets cut. Swing tackle should have been drafted with the intention to see the guy start in a few years. Besides, don't we need cap room to sign a LG??? Is fox converting to OG?
I am glad we are bringing Fox back..We all know he should have been filling in at LT for Albert and then James could have stayed at RT and Thomas at LG. Coaching ????
I have no idea how anyone but a troll could call signing Fox for what is likely close to veteran minimum an unbelievably bad move. The swing tackle who could start in a few years was drafted last year, in the 3rd round.
James Walker@JamesWalkerNFL 2h2 hours ago Confirming what @ArmandoSalguero reported, #Dolphins backup OT Jason Fox's new deal is for two years and $2.5 million. Barry Jackson @flasportsbuzz 1h1 hour ago Safety Jordan Kovacs, who was an exclusive rights free agent, also re-signed with the Dolphins today.
Fox's signing is just another Philbin indictment. You know his stamp isn't on this deal at all. They are literally treating him like a place holder and he will be gone next year.
Billy Turner wasn't drafted as a swing tackle he was drafted to play guard and that is what he will do. Whether he succeeds remains to be seen. Jason Fox isn't good and brings us nothing for the future. Waste of precious cap room that could have been spent on a veteran DB. The position is extremely important and should have been drafted. Presuming on Brandon Albert's health and longevity is bad risk IMO. And BTW, maybe you could find a better outlet for your bitterness than a public sports forum. All of your retorts lately are laced with insults and scorn. I don't really care that much that you call me a troll for posting my opinion on a lousy signing, it just makes for bad reading that I doubt most of the rest care to see. Try to cheer up.
Dude, do you like anything the Phins due or is trolling hte hobby. It's $2mil for a quality swing tackle who stepped in at LT and outperformed anyone outside of Albert playing there. He still in his 20's and mroe than likely could play early in the season with Albert rehabbing. We just drafted a OT last year, and signed a LT to max deal. There is zero need to draft another OT in 2015 when we have needs at OG, ILB, DT, CB, WR, and FS.
Just put me on Ignore if you don't like what I have to say. If my retorts seem as you describe, maybe it is because I am weary of reading the kind of constant negativity that you post here. As for your concern about what most of the rest care to see, maybe that should enter your thinking before you post the kinds of things yo do. As for Turner, please post a link to where the coaching staff says he is not, and never was considered for any kind of tackle role. After all he played left tackle his entire college career, and in the limited action he's seen with the Dolphins, he has played both guard and tackle. He could easily work out to fill the kind of role Garner did, but only better. That is, if he does not earn a starting spot at guard. Even if he does, that does not mean he will only ever play just guard in his career. Your negativity toward Fox is unfounded. He signed for a barely over veteran minimum. How much do you think the team should pay for reserve linemen anyway?
Would you guys prefer to have Dallas Thomas starting as your right tackle and J. James moved to the left side? Because we all how fun that was the first time around.
