I don't think he'll make it to 14.. he'll likely be a top 5 pick, probably going to Oakland at #4, which means our only chance of securing him could be trading up with the Jaguars to the third pick, and it's possible they'd be a willing trade partner. It'd be nice if we could pull off what we did to get Jordan...

 

Before the combine, possibly... now that he ran a 4.35, I think he goes first. While Cooper is a little more polished, White has more upside, is taller, faster, and stronger.

 

Even if that's the case, both are likely to be gone by 14.

 

Having that big WR is nice, but my focus is on getting WRs that can beat coverage and get open, bottom line.

 

If you want to trade up for a WR I think you should hope White is the first WR off the board and Cooper falls down in that 8 -10 range and you can go up and get him. Which is a real possibility

 

I agree. In fact I think they both will be gone in the first seven or eight picks.

Even with the Dolphins looking to get rid of Wallace, I don't see them drafting a WR in the first round.

I think they will be looking at CB, safety, if they don't resign Delmas, DL, LB, or OL in the first round.

In fact it wouldn't surprise me if they sign a veteran free agent WR and don't even draft a WR in the 2015 draft.

 

Even though we have many holes to fill, I can almost guarantee that if Wallace is traded, we will be picking one with our first pick. If not in round 1, definately early in our draft. Slim pickings at WR in FA, with many of the big names staying put or asking for big contracts. No way they go into 2015 with feeble talent at WR to hamstring Tannehill.

 

I very seriously doubt we pick a WR with #14 pick. The value won't be there unless White/Cooper fall farther than expected. I could see a 2nd round pick though.

 

I agree that value for WR might affect the pick at 14 but not in the 2nd or 3rd like you said. JMO but I feel that one of those talented WR's fall to us at 14..just a hopeful hunch.

 

What if they're high on DGB? Hickey has shown he'll get his pick even if some think it a reach.

 

I love DGB, even with the huge risk involved. I am actually more concerned by some that think he is raw and not ready to contribute right away. If Wallace is traded, and it looks that way, we need a WR taken at 14 to make an immediate impact.

I would give up on DGB in the first round.

 

I think Devante Parker is worth the 14th overall pick. But you may be right about us not taking a WR that early.

 

White and Cooper are gone by then, but he could still be available. Depending on what we do in UFA, I would like the team to pick him at 14. Could be much bigger holes to fill though.

 

With whom are we going to trade for Wallace? Who will give us something to take over that contract?

 

I personally rather see them act like adults and work this out. Wallace is being paid well to do a job and he he needs to give his full effort and the staff is paid well and they need to put Wallace in a position to succeed.

 

The answer is very simple. Nobody will trade for Wallace. Why give up a draft pick for a player with a huge contract? When all you have to do is wait until he is cut and then you can sign him for a lot less money and still keep all your draft picks.

 

Then we should keep him and work with him. We're not going to get another ten touchdowns next season from anyone else we have a reasonable chance of drafting or picking up in free agency. Or anyone else now on the roster. Good receivers are often divas. Deal with it, Joe.

 

After the combine, I dont think we have a shot at seeing White fall to 14 and its highly doubtful Cooper falls to 14. I dont want to trade up either, with all the needs we have, I rather trade down and gain more picks.

 

I know that is a popular thing to say but it also completely unrealistic.

If you trade for a player you own him, lock,stock, and barrel. If a player hits the market, he could choose to go anywhere.

So lets not have this ridiculous question anymore, OK. It get's really annoying.

Even if you are determined to be the highest bidder, it means nothing. You have no right to the player.

A needy, yet unappealing team that knows it will have little chance of acquiring top tier free agent talent may pay the extra money to trade for an over priced contract if they love the player and have reason to believe he would be an excellent fit.

They realize that if they do acquire top tier free agent talent they will be grossly overpaying anyway, and with regards to this year's free agent market.....expect them to drop like flies to home team contracts and franchise tags.

Wallace may yet have value to a few cap filthy teams like the Raiders,Jags,Jets,Browns, even the Vikings. Vikings aren't cap rich but they some to work with. Remeber the Vikings wanted Wallace when we signed him, but they ended up with Jennings. Jennings was once great for sure but he is really fading and could be cut.

If the Dolphins sweetened the deal with a young player still on a rookie contract that could also help the team we trade with it could go a long way to dumping Wallace; kinda like the way other sports use players in trades.

 

Good points, especially the cap part. Yeah in a perfect world for those teams they would wait us out regarding wallace's situation. But as his payment deadline approaches I kinda believe the phone will be ringing more frequently.
