Turns out, its basically a corporate partner circle-jerk that actually gets next to nothing done. http://deadspin.com/do-the-nfls-anti-domestic-violence-initiatives-actually-1682681513 Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 4
Of course, the NFL is a big corporation that's only interested in making money. How else does anyone expect them to behave? They are only beholden to their shareholders, the owners. When you run a corporation like that, like many corporations do today, you see this kind of sociopathic behavior run rampant. It's a corporate mindset that says you only have a responsibility to make profit and that's it. When a guy like Roger Goodell openly berates NFL employees by saying that they make too much(but think he himself is either underpaid or paid just right), despite the fact that those employees are making a contribution to helping the league and their owners make their massive profits, are we really surprised? When the league is openly at war with its players regarding its selective enforcement of rules and punishment, as well as staving off their various lawsuits from former players(concussions, ect)? When the league locked players and even their own referees out to lowball them? When you have the commissioner hanging out with owners like he's their personal lapdog? Nah, they're a big profit corporation with a big heart that's the epitome of American capitalism(that is based on a socialist model). The NFL is no different from the rest of corporate America, privatizing profits and socializing losses(stadium costs).
I agree with you, because the last sentence is what we do here, but don't you think the non profit status of the NFL should be reviewed?
Lol @ the government treating only the NFL as they would your average homeowner's association. Granted each team pays their individual taxes (breaks notwithstanding). No other league gets to enjoy this specific benefit. That's how your become America's #1 sport.
The NFL does profit but not much, whilst theyre able to fork out about a billion in settlement to concussion victims. The majority profit from TV deals, merchandising, etc is split amongst 32 owners. The owners are BSing big time about how much money they make annually, believe me theyre banking big and its way more than the supposebly 50/50 with the players. The one who profits is Goodell, getting paid about 50 million annually and the owners love him because he is able to keep the non guaranteed contract nonsense in the game and keep the salary cap as well. Meanwhile the players suffer career ending injuries with no insurance because their contracts are non guaranteed.
Indeed. Just the fact that there is a salary cap in place for employees not named Roger Goodell, is the red flag to this being a huge sham.
