1-Band of Brothers HBO series......still will watch it now and then.
    2-Rome...........It was entertaining.
3-Lost........was good while it lasted.....dissapointing end.
4-Dexter........too bad it had to end.
5-Breaking Bad.....at least there will be a prequel Ask Saul.
6-The Walking dead..........still going on .New spinoff in the works too.
    7-Game of Thrones
    8-Boardwalk Empire.......Great production,casting and period costuming.
9-24 ...........I binged watched the whole series.
    10-Star Trek......classic

You will note no comedies. Its a pet peeve of mine.I hate canned laughter and will turn off any show that has it.IMO it insults your intelligence.I do like real laugh comedies like the Daily show.

    Honorable mention
Eureka ..........watched it with my sons
Prison Break.....terrible acting but got hooked into watching the whole series
OZ ......watched it all .Couldnt get into The Wire or The Sopranos for some reason.I have them all in my hard drive but cant get into them.
    Homeland.....its getting better IMO.
My name is Earl....my sons loved it.

Also in the mini series category I liked Fargo which recently won a Golden Globe.
I have a bad memory for names so I will skip that part.

In no particular order, because that just isn't fair.

    • The Sopranos - Tony Soprano
    • The Wire - Omar
    • The X-Files - Fox Mulder
    • Firefly - Malcolm Reynolds
    • Game of Thrones - Everyone is going to say Tyrion or Arya, so I'll go with Jon Snow, who knows nothing
    • Archer - Pam, although my wife says I act like Archer
    • Mad Men - Don Draper
    • Breaking Bad - Walt
    • Sons of Anarchy - Jax Teller
    • Doctor Who - The Doctor (Tennant)

I had to leave a lot of great shows off limiting it to 10 like that. My top 10 is usually pretty dynamic and changes pretty regularly. Some good Netflix options are: Hell on Wheels, Continuum, Luther, The Fall, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Dexter, and Californication.

Only just discovered this thread, looks like a goldmine for new shows to watch.

The West Wing - CJ Cregg
    The Wire - Omar Little
The Shield - Curtis Lemanski (Lem)
Parks and Recreation - Ron Swanson (Tom is a really close second)

Highlighted the ones that don't seem to have appeared already in other lists.

After some thought, here's my list, though not in keeping with the official format of the thread, since I tend to enjoy "ensemble" shows the most, and not one particular actor or character.

    Comedies:

    Night Court
    Scrubs
    Community
    Futurama
    Coupling (BBC)

    Drama/Action:

    Star Trek: TNG
    Firefly
    X-Files
    Dead Like Me
    Buffy the Vampire Slayer
    Bones
    Law & Order (the original)*
    ER*

*Note - I watched a loved these shows in the late 90s through around the 2001/02 season. I then didn't have TV for the next two years or so (due to being dirt poor), and when I eventually started watching again, both shows had a mostly different cast and I quit watching.

Well, I didn't say lame. It appears well made, but I absolutely do not like things that are really dark, and everything about the show, from the get go, seems to be that its a bunch of nasty people involved in really bad [stuff], with assorted nastiness. Not my cup of tea. I understand that TV, as a whole, has trended darker/grittier/ect over the last 10-15 years, and that a lot of people enjoy that. I do not, and I want no part of it. Waiting it out. I enjoy shows where the main characters are put through struggle and have to figure their way out, but I need someone that I can root for who's a good person at heart. The absolute darkest character I've ever enjoyed a show about was House, who was troubled but not "bad". A lot of these shows seem to be just about bad people doing bad things to one another. I don't care if that's realistic or not, its not what I get my enjoyment from.

My wife and I also decided a long time ago that the pay channels (HBO, Showtime, ect) just aren't worth the cost to us. We would have an interest in maybe 10% of the shows, tops, and they just show the same movies over and over for the most part. (I can see the listings in the DirecTV guide).

I've also seen plenty of commercials for Sunny, (watch a lot of movies on FX) and it just doesn't seem my style, If the ads are at all indicative of the show.

BB has moved up my short list - have yet to see an episode, especially now that I resubscribed to Netflix. But I opened up the first episode of Daredevil. I was very impressed, going to have to keep watching those for the moment.

Daredevil is incredible too. Probably the best all around super hero live action ever, tv or movie.

BB, however, is better than you think it will be. You'll like it more than you think it will. If crystal meth is anything like the show, its no wonder people get hooked on it.

Add me to unlucky. I too am "meh" about HBO. When they have free weekends on DirecTV I sometimes DVR a movie or two but I have tried the series and....

Keep in mind though, you are 27, you are the target audience advertisers want. Most advertisers for products beyond Viagra and hemorrhoid cream could care less what a 62 year old watches!

Just for fun, I checked out this list at Wikipedia. I did see some of the comedies in the 90s while at friends' places, but didn't care for them much. Of the rest, I had an interest in Rome, but never saw any episodes. There was one program that I absolutely loved though, Fraggle Rock! It must have been on another network too when I was a kid, because we barely had basic cable, lol.

From this similar Showtime list, my wife watched The Tudors when it was on BBC America. I saw multiple episodes, but didn't like it at all. A friend gave me the first season DVD of Dead Like Me, and it is one of my all time favorite shows. Saw the second season on The 101. I saw a few episodes of the Stargate show while it was still on Showtime too, and it was ok. Seemed to get worse when it moved to regular TV and I didn't watch it much. No interest in anything else.
