I think that tonight's win could not have been better for us down the stretch. Playing the Jets twice and the Vikings in 3/5 closing games, our schedule is relatively favorable. I think that squeezing by tonight's game woke us up and really told us to not overlook the games against the inferior teams (Jets and Vikings) down this stretch. I, to be honest, expected a more comfortable win tonight although I should know better. This team tonight played (especially in the 1st half) as if they expected to win just by showing up. So we were able to squeeze by with a great division win against the Jests and at the same time not one man on this team will play another game this year with even the slightest doubt that the Vikings or Jets are not capable of beating us in these last games. And THAT will keep us on our toes and fighting for this playoff spot. Think about the thought we would have going into a week 17 home game against the Jets had we steam rolled them tonight. Overconfident in a what could very well be a "win and in" situation. Not to look too far ahead, but that seems like a set up for disappointment. Very happy with the ugly hard fought win tonight
The big positive doesn't have to be complicated. We won. On the road. Against a division rival. In Primetime. IDGAF if it's the Jets or not.
Middle of the fourth quarter. Cutaway shot to some different kids in the crowd. They end the montage of one kid who is grinning ear to ear. What they don't realize is that sticking out of the kid's popcorn is an open bottle of Bud Light. They stay with the kid just long enough for me and this other guy to say 'hey man, that child is loaded'. That was the highlight of the night for me. Slippery field and the 4-2 defensive alignment is what screwed the pooch in the first half. Otherwise, we played sloppy all around. The Jets were just worse. This game is the 'drunk 9 yr. Old' game, because it ought to be against the law to watch something like that...
It was pretty funny that Mike Tirico noticed it and started chuckling to himself and then had to comment that the beer must be someone else's.
You may be right, but what in God's name, gives ANY Dolphin the right to 'just show up'....this team is NOT good enough, and has NOT been good enough to overlook any team they play, whether that team is good or not... No excuse for this team to come out and think they just have to show up...they simply aren't that good...
I've been to enough games at MetLife/Giant Stadium where I'm convinced Jet fans aren't allowed to buy PSL's unless they fail a breathalyzer test first.
This Dolphins team does this a lot. Seems to do it for the last few years. Like they think all they have to do is show up..... like last 2 games of last year.... I cant figure it out.
Yeah coaches and players, just show up and lay an egg at the the last 3 home games and we'll see who comes out with a bloody nose and no jobs. I'm talking to you Philbin (why run the ball), Coyle (I watch cartoons all week instead of game plan), Lazor (just dump off no reason to look for open receivers down field), Starks, Odrick, Misi, Jenkins, and last but not least Tannehill.
