I shouldn't be here right now, I have a school paper due at 2am eastern time, but I just wanted to stop by and say It was nice to see us take care of business in the 4th quarter. I wish we could have more convincingly, but a win is a win and this win is sweet because it was against the Jets in their home and we are in the playoffs if the season ended right now! How about Tanny having 70% completion percentage for the last 5 games? Enjoy the win fella's, please don't let me see that many we won but we suck let's fire philbin, coyle, and start Moore threads. I don't wanna hear any Harbaugh or Rex Ryan threads either. How about some playoff threads!
Meh. Ugly is not good. This team must win and with style too. If it's not with style, I don't care for wins. Must be dominant and fun to watch. This was not that. What are we going to do with Sturgman?
So happy right now. Don't give a **** how ugly it was. Division game on the road on MNF. Sure, we need to get the run D cleaned up, etc... but I'm taking this win all day!
The Jets gave this game away. If they had a competent QB they would have blown Miami out of the water. I'm not impressed and this game really has swayed my opinion of how good this team really is.
We've won with style plenty of times this year. What we hadn't done is win a close one. We needed this...
**** that. We lost "with style" last week and it does nothing....it a loss. The teams that do damage in the playoffs recently win tough games at the end. Period. Look at the 2 superbowl Giants teams for examples. The Cardinals that went 8-8 to the superbowl. Win the late tough games against rivals and you get it done. Period.
I liked it better last week, even tho I was ready to burn the defensive unit with Coyle saved for last.
When has it ever, in the history of the AFC East, been a GIVEN against ANY division team...particularly on the road?!?! It's how the NFL works y'all...if you don't know that, you must have been watching college ball all these years. How the hell did Washington beat Dallas at Dallas? It happens, and we almost let one slip away, but didn't...it's a big FAT notch in the right column and keeps us in the post-season hunt...I'll take it. Jesus people...take the W...we've lost several we gave away, about time we get one back. F*** it...on to the Baltimore game...the Jest are who we thought they were...and we DIDN'T let em off the hook.
Sims is looking good out there. Picked up a blitzer that led to a big play. Made some CRUCIAL catches. Kudos to the big fella. One of my players of the game along with Tannehill.
I posted this in the game thread after someone made a similar comment, so I'll copy/paste it here too... but first I want to say this... We needed this win tonight. After blowing close ones to Detroit, GB and Denver, we needed a come from behind win in a game we should have lost, rather than loosing a game we should have one at the last minute. Now to my post about the original comment of an ugly win... You know, that's a good point. This is december, playoff run football. They can't all be beauties. We all know that from drunken trips to the bars But hey, good teams win games like this in December. If you can get destroyed by the run like we did in the first half, and shut it down in the second for the most part (sure having a donkey for a QB on your opponents sideline helps too), but damnit... you earned it tonight. Lets not forget, I know its a terrible Jets team, but its a division game. It's a bigtime rival game. These games are never easy, and our D was terrible early, the adjusted, the offense bailed them out, got the lead for them, then the D locked it down to end it. That's a team win. What Philbin always preaches in his post game speeches after wins. That's the definition of it. One side struggled... the D. The O didn't get a chance in the first half. The second half, the O takes over, grabs the lead, then the D locks it down. Team win. Buy in guys... buy in. If we can get some guys healthy again that would be great. It's going to be a struggle. I think fully healthy, we're a playoff lock this year. In our current state, I dunno... I know... I know... no excuses... but **** that. We're damn banged up. As banged up as we are, its a valid excuse.
Anyone who complains about winning this game needs a serious time out. Not every win is going to be perfect. The important thing, and the only thing that matters is that we WON. We beat the Jets on MNF in THEIR house. REJOICE!
This team came out flat on offense. This is not the first time. The reason is we don't run the ball. Lazor puts our Oline on their backheels and they are reeling backwards. We can't get first downs. It takes them awhile to get going. On D in the first half, I don't know what Coyle was thinking, it's simply puzzling.
Exactly. Thankfully this isn't college. There are no outside powers that judge how good teams are. You take care of business on the field and you're in.
Yeah that was nice to see. With him and clay healthy that could be a nice TE combo. Count me in on the f@@@ it its a win train. The players and coaches did what they had to to win in the end, including a game winning 4th quarter drive by RT17. And a clutch turnover by the D. Those are good things!
Great observation. Sims was very good and stepped up as a reliable target down the stretch with Hartline and Clay out. Another positive to take away from this one.
I said I was gonna ignore your gibberish, but essentially saying you'd rather lose 39-36 than win 16-13 has to be the most asinine comment I have ever read here.
One other player who deserves some positive mention is RJ Stanford. To come from being on the street and not having played an NFL snap all season, to starting and not getting burned for any big plays is pretty damned amazing.
That's because you are caught in stats. Tonight, Rex Ryan gave away this game. He was told to play Geno, and he sent a big fack you to the owners for telling him how to run the team and canning him, with 8 passes and 50 runs. With the way we played tonight, I would not be surprised if we were in on it. But you have to love Rex, he is awesome. What a statement on MNF!
You're one who enjoys 39-36 losses more than 16-13 wins, and I am the one caught in stats? You better look in the mirror, if you want to see who prefers style over substance.
I am now 100 percent convinced that Dez just talks out of his *** to try and top his own stuff every single time. At least bat **** crazy is consistent.
He's trolling. It's never been more obvious then after that comment. To be honest.. its pretty lame we can't get someone to ban hammer his ***..
Sorry bro. I'm not happy that the Jets coverage dictated wide open throws to Wallace in endzone and Landry on fly that RT should anticipate and hit but did not, for a TD. Or that Coyle let them run wild with no pressure in the first half, or that LAzor had 19 passes to 3 runs in the first half. Those are not things that give me any confidence. Yes, we won, we live to fight another Sunday. I got more confidence in the team out of Denver game than this game.
Yeah, I'll take an ugly win over an ugly loss any day of the week. And that's really all there is to say until next Sunday...besides that Wake continues to be my hero!
Glad we won but the image of wallace's pathetic half *** attempt at a one handed catch is still pissing me off.
Some of those dropped interceptions by the Jets were jaw-dropping...they could have destroyed us tonight with a balanced offense. Rex targets the 48 hour veteran corner of the Fins exactly once the entire game? Come on...I really believe that they threw the game intentionally. I wouldn't be shocked if Rex is fired tomorrow...and hired on Tuesday by Miami, Buffalo or New England as a defensive assistant.
Stanford got thrown at more than once. They threw at least 2 short slants to Decker with Stanford in coverage. You really believe that? How old are you? 9?
Did you really pay attention at all? The Jets dropped 3 easy INT's, missed two field goals and attempted 8 passes total. They ran wild for three quarters, and then resorted to running right up the middle for the entire 4th quarter. They tried one end around on 3rd and 10...their most creative play call on a definite passing down. It was pretty darn clear that Rex wasn't playing for the W tonight.
