Edit: Bengals 8-3-1 over the Steelers 7-5 Colts 8-4 over the Browns 7-5 Jaguars 2-10 over the Texans 6-6 Broncos 9-3 over the Bills 7-5 Cardinals 9-3 over the Chiefs 7-5 Chargers 8-4 over the Patriots 9-3
Improbable that the Saints drop two in a row at home, so I see the Bengals losing indeed. And the Steelers losing to the Titans actually is in the realm of possibility... this Steelers team has lost already to lowly teams like the Bucs and Jets. Raiders could upset the Chargers. They almost beat them the first time they played this season, or they at least played them competitively at a time when the Chargers looked like a top-5-in-the-NFL overall team.
Having beaten the Chargers, they're less of an issue. Last season they got in because both Miami and Baltimore. Speaking of, can we get a BYE week loss?
Honestly, you guys are starting the playoff scenarios far too early for me. Now that we've won this week, the only thing left to worry about is the Colts beating the Patriots. If that happens, then the universe will right itself and we will control the division soon enough.
It's going to be an exciting 4 weeks. Scenarios are going to be changing with every agme because of the bunch up in the AFC. It feels good to be enjoying a season and actually have my kids interested in football.
The more teams that lose the better. We play the broncos next week on the road so if we lose it could allow us somw breathing room.
If its too early for you, then don't post in or read the thread that's clearly about playoff scenarios. Also, its not too early at all.
I don't want the Broncos to lose this week. Why? We're not going to beat them out of the playoffs and I certainly don't want to play them after a loss. I'd rather them win but not get a lot of offensive momentum.
Do we really care if the Rams beat the Broncos? We are not going to fighting for home field advantage against them so I think that game is a pretty moot point. Also I never want the Patriots to win, But in all likely hood they are going to win this division, Wouldn't it make sense for the Colts to lose the game to help our playoff chances?
I'll be at the Chargers/Raiders game this weekend. If you're watching the game I'll be having my Wake jersey on - sitting in the end zone. Field goals and extra points - look for me.
The Browns/Texans game is actually fine either way. If the Browns win, it puts a nail in Houston's coffin. If Houston wins, it knocks the Browns down a peg. Im not rooting for Denver to lose this week unless its because the Rams knocked out a few important players. We don't need Denver to be woken up and having something to prove against us.
I know I'll be paying attention to the games more closely this weekend. Pretty exciting time to be a fan.
There are six games left, yet people are posting that if one team loses ( the Bengals), we're in the playoffs? It doesn't work like that and the playoff picture will completely change over the next month. Even four weeks from now, nothing will be certain.
So don't open the thread if all you're gonna do is piss on other people's enjoyment of the season and what it brings. Everybody knows full well what one week does and doesn't do...temper elsewhere.
WADR, it is beyond ridiculous that you think anyone here thinks we make the playoffs if the Bengals lose. I mean that is just absolutely mind boggling that you think anyone here is that effing stupid.
If they lose then we are the 6th seed for that week, if we win out then we're in. Once that happens then we control our own fate rather we make the playoffs or not. Fans are getting a little excited because it's been a long time since we had a good team, this team is better than the 08 Dolphins.
the saints can do a lot for us the next 3 weeks, they play vs Bengals, vs Ravens and @ Steelers, the Ravens one a National TV Game on Monday Night, they are almost impossible to beat at home on a national TV game
Here's what the 538 website has to say: Miami had a 40.8% chance of making the playoffs before the Bills game. Our win increased that by +10.6% so now at 51.4%. From the original OP, here's the impact on our probability of making the playoffs: Texans 4-5 over the Browns 6-3 - negligible impact Saints 4-5 over the Bengals 5-3-1 - +0.7% if Saints win, else -1.9% Rams 3-6 over the Broncos 7-2 - negligible impact Seahawks 6-3 over the Chiefs 6-3 - +1.5% if Hawks win, else -1.3% Raiders 0-9 over the Chargers 5-4 - negligible impact Colts 6-3 over the Patriots 7-2 - +0.7% if Colts win, else -1% Titans 2-7 over the Steelers 6-4 - +1.7% if Titans win, else -0.8% I'm trying to rationalize in my head how those other games have such a small impact on our chances. The only thing I can think of is there are so many teams in the mix, one losing doesn't have that big of an impact; it's the combination of multiple teams losing. Not intuitive to me, but that's all I can come up with. Anyway, I still find it interesting. FWIW, here's their top teams making the playoffs in the AFC (prior to Thursday's game): Denver: 98.5% Indi: 97.8% NE: 90.8% KC: 76.8% Pitt: 52.2% Balt: 48.6% Miami: 40.8% Cleveland: 36.7%
I hope Denver wins this week. The quicker they win their division the quicker they will take their foot of the accelerator and start to cruise. They may overlook us and that will make it easier for the Dolphins to beat them. BTW FYI the Dolphins have a history of beating the eventual SB winner during the regular season so I am counting on that tradition to be sustained this year too.
Pats have Indy, Det and GB. Let's see how they fare. And they finish against SD, Jets, us and Bills. If you look at their schedule they fared similar to us so far. I am less concerned about Denver or any of our out of division opponents than the Jets.
I hear you. It's like I almost expect a split with the Jests because it's division, and a long-standing rivalry. Just happens that way in the NFL. Look at Washington @ Dallas a few weeks ago. Even then, I absolutely HATE losing to that f****** team.
If you look at NE they put 51 on Bears and 43 on Denver. We could've put 40+. The problem with us is, we leave points on the field when we dominate, consistently, 10+ points. Or at least that has been the case. NE does not do that. I expect us to be in a position to put 40 on Denver as well, but we are probably going to score 23. That's why we need the D to shut down Denver repeatedly.
