This "power pick" note from NFL.com got me thinking (which is why you smelled smoke earlier).... So it seems our D is generating some recoginition around the league. With this upcoming San Diego, if we shut a high powered offense down like that i'd be pretty satisfied, even if our offense only scored say 17. So would you rather have our.... A. Defense step up to become truly elite, ala 2000's baltimore, while the offense remains so-so. We win this week 17-6 or B. Have our offense become consistently good (but likely never elite) while the defense remains a good, but not elite unit. We win this week 27-24 What type of team would you prefer the dolphins end up as? Edit: i was trying to post a poll here but failed miserably.
i want a team that can do both, on a bad day for either unit, i want the other to pick it up and perform, i´m not fooling myself about Ravens 2000 good, we are not even close to that
Me too, id prefer good offense for a change. Weve had borderline great defenses in the 2000's. Also, definitely not saying our D is on par with Balt 2000 D. Just speculating on "what if". To add something useful here....Tannehill will be on Dan Patrick tomorrow (Friday). Seems the fact that he is working with Marino has everyone curious.
San Diego is the rare offense that can put up points against our defense? I guess KC and Buffalo have "rare" offenses too.
If we are talking about a generational defense - 2000 Ravens, 85 Bears, etc., then I'll take that. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
All League Defense, I want a title. A good defense can stop other teams, and put up points of their own. A good offense can only score or play keep away for soo long.
Looks like we got both in this one. Great performance. I think this team is going to get a good deal more respect after this
Defense is suffocating when the offense has a lead. That's what I've been taking from the games this year (save Green Bay).
We're now allowing 18.88 points/game, and after today's games, will likely be third in the AFC in points allowed. Add that to the good sack and turnover numbers, and the defense is clearly among the best in the league. The offense is capable of doing very good things, but can be inconsistant. Lets all cross our fingers and hope that Miller's shoulder injury isn't serious. Depending on how bad it is, runners can play through that kind of thing a lot of the time.
