The Pirates are the hottest team in baseball right now. Leading in almost every category. From wins to pitching to batting to relievers and bench. Oh yeah, and managing. Clint Hurdle and staff have this team BELIEVING.

    LET'S GO BUCS!!!

Of course not but as fans of teams that aren't in the playoffs you gotta root for teams that either haven't won in forever and/or never been to the WS.

Too bad Charlie Morton might be out for the year though, that's a major bummer for me.

Yeah Oakland is my AL back up team. For the AL I'd probably go rooting wise: Royals, A's, Angels, Tigers, Orioles. For the NL: Pirates, Nationals, Dodgers, Giants, Cardinals.

Vance Worley has pitched way better than Morton this season. Ray Searage has to be the best pitching coach in the Majors.

It's a personal thing with me and Charlie, as we used to play on the same travel baseball team growing up so I obviously root hard for him to do well. So it's a shame if he has to miss pitching in the playoffs.

Pretty much. What he's done with Volquez, especially down the stretch here, is remarkable. Dude has been practically Liriano-good.

Getting the game at PNC would be huge. Question is whether you use Liriano to try to secure homefield, or whether you save him to pitch game 1 wherever. If they win that elimination game (or just win the division !) they could make a deep run, for sure.

Absolutely, especially for a kid in the middle of CT. Picked in the 3rd round by the Braves in the 2002 draft, after the Braves already drafted Jeff Francoeur and Brian McCann. Signing a nice 4 year deal, he's already earned over $9 million and has at least an additional 25.5 million coming to him, he's set for life. He's been a solid #3/4 pitcher when healthy. I just worry about his long term health, he already had TJ surgery and has had problems with his hips.

The wild card is great and terrible....man it makes the races fun, but in 163 if you have a bad night like last night it is all for nothing...

Idk if it's worse to miss the playoffs how Seattle did or go out like Pitt did

It's worse to miss the playoffs. The 1 game playoff game is a crapshoot but at least they got in, especially for a club like Pittsburgh to make the playoffs two years in a row is huge for the franchise.

Amen. There are 20 other teams in MLB that would have done about anything for a shot at the title.
