Jenkins was a rare bright spot yesterday.

He's at his best playing downhill. I wonder if at some point this season we see Tripp at WLB, Jenkins in the middle, and Misi back at SLB. Jenkins still struggles in coverage - hopefully that's something that will improve with time.

It is hard to find a bright spot on a defense that gave up 34 points to a bad Chiefs offense, but Jenkins appear to play effectively for the most part yesterday. He still needs vast improvement in pass coverage though.

Actually coverage is supposed to be Jenkins strong suit .It was in college anyway. He is undersized for a MLB job IMO.

I wouldnt mind seeing Tripp tried out at MLB.

Jenkins is better built for MLB than Tripp, IMO. With Tripp's athleticism, I think he'd make a better run-and-chase WLB, at least in this scheme or if whoever replaces Coyle uses a similar scheme.

I wish Tripp would bloody well get healthy already, tired of seeing being deactivated every game

Yes .It really depends on the scheme.
BTW I think it was last week when Jenkins had great coverage on a WR that was way downfield.Few LBs have that mobility and range. He needs to be more consistent though.

I was a Jenkins fan when he was drafted and he seems like the light is turning on for him.

Uh, dude missed a tackle on his very first snap of the game, the safety was a terrific play though :wink2:.

I agree with RoninFin, he needs to get better in coverage. I don't like his zone drops, too mechanical, not enough awareness to down/distance and where his help defenders are. To me he's an ideal backup, not a guy you want starting.

EDIT: He Decleated 85 on punt coverage, Good lawd that was great tackle!!!

Jenkins made some mistakes here and there, he didn't play a perfect game. Overran some stuff and got a bit sloppy. But I mean, he's a 22 year-old kid who was a backup since the start of camp.

He played a really nice game overall. Active and energized. Really good to see that from our LBs. I expected him to compete seriously for time this year, but i didn't think it'd be this soon in week 3. Good for him.
