Ugh. Are you kidding me? Everywhere I've gone I've been told the CirclePad Pro had been discontinued. Is there going to be an option for people that already bought a DS?

And now they're porting Xenoblade Chronicles, which will ONLY be playable on the new 3DS systems. Unbelievable.

The new systems have a spec bump. It makes sense, but it's out of left field.

I'm probably buying the one that looks like an SNES.

I know it makes sense, but as a person who has bought a DS under a year ago, I can't help but feel a little betrayed.

    You mean 3DS?

And I bought a 3DS at release so this is the 2nd kick to the groin for me. Can't believe they're going to put out games that the original 3DS can't play due to spec bump. At least call it a new handheld (3DS2 or some ****) if you're going to do that.

I may end up picking up an XL my wife and I can share at least.

I bought a 3DS at launch and got screwed by the price cut. I got the 10 games free and got over it.

Stuff happens. Your current 3DS won't stop working. It'll still play everything.

I'm planning to get one of these.

Not Xenoblade Chronicles, and who knows what else.

Yes, not Xenoblade Chronicles, as we've already established.

"Who knows what else" is kind of an empty statement. Developers will not suddenly abandon previous 3DS models. Games that are "new 3DS" exclusive will be extremely rare. Xenoblade is being used as a system seller, not as an indication of a new trend of forcing hardware upgrades through software (except that isn't new, and it's called "every console generation ever made").

If this were called the 3DS 2, everyone would say "Cool, it's backwards compatible with the 3DS!"

Can we get a summary when it's over? I heard there might be a a new 2D Metroid for the 3DS developed by Intelligent Systems. That would be fantastic.

I have an ambassador 3DS (2 in fact), not sure if I want to trade them in towards the new XLs, or just bite the bullet and get an XL. I don't play the ambassador games much, but I don't particularly want to lose the option either.

So far the only announcement is that Metroid Prime Trilogy is coming to the Wii U eShop.

I'm thinking about purchasing a 3DS. Is the difference between a New 3DS and New 3DS XL solely in the size?

The normal size New 3DS is not for sale in the U.S. The New 3DS on sale here is the New 3DS XL in Japan.

So you only have one choice, really.
