Im shocked but not surprised. That probably doesnt make sense. Initial reaction is one of shock. But he had battled drug issues and depression. And he is a comedian. Sadly it goes hand in hand.

My favorite was his 1982 show from San Francisco. Absolutely brilliant.

Wow... movies were solid, but stand up was among the best. Never care about the celebrity crap, but that one sucks.

This is one celebrity death that rul makes me sad. I love Robin Williams.

    R.I.P. :(

  12. he had a good soul I dont describe a man with this word but he was a beautiful person. His pressence will be missed on the planet. Today was a loss for humanity. He was sad for the right reasons and he smiled for the right things. I really can not put into words the morose in me that hearing the news stirred.

I hope he finally found his peace

As someone that did improv and stand up comedy, and constantly was winning "funniest" in middle and high school year books.....its ****ing tough being the clown. Reminds me of this....

Even to this day....If I am just having a bad day, and wanna be quiet people think something is wrong......or even if I am not having a bad day....but am not doing cartwheels....people think something is wrong.....who makes the clown laugh?

We lost a good one today. No matter your success, your wealth, your status....mental health is real. If you need it, get help. This really ****ing sucks...

Very sad. One of my favorites. One year older than my parents, and I've always viewed him as a great from their generation. He made it big right around when I was born, and I grew up watching him from Mork on. I never feel a personal connection to a celebrity or anyone else who I don't personally know, but I'll really miss his work.

As Paul said, saddened, but not suprised. He'd battled issues with depression and substance abuse, and those folks often go in ways like this.

Always wondered why the living always seek to find some connection, however tenuous, to those who have recently passed. Perhaps because it makes us aware of our own mortality...

Williams was a comedic genius, but suffered many addictions during various eras of his life. In addition to his more recent depression, he was also having health issues. Still, asphyxiation is an odd way to expire oneself...

Damn, this is a shockingly sucky death.

A lot of people remember him for his comedy. And rightfully so. He was great... (i loved how he sweat his *** off on stage too. Put his heart and soul into every bit). But what stands out to me is his serious work. Very few people with his background can make a believable leap to drama. Guy was unbelievably talented.

Part of me can't believe it while the rest of me is unfortunately not surprised. He always struck me as a guy who had to work really hard to find happiness.

He had a lot of great roles/moments but I always loved him the most in Good Will Hunting.

Def have to give a nod to Mrs Doubtfire also as the staple movie for kids in single-parent homes growing up.
