It's all going to depend on the execution, in particular, the writing. I don't read Diana Gabaldon, but she is immensely popular and enjoys crossover success that you don't often see in romance-genre writers.

My wife absolutely loves the books, but we don't do pay channels. I'll likely buy the Blueray when it comes out for her.
