Hmmm. I guess that could be part of the problem last year. Holy ****! Tanne does deserve an award for not just playing admirably given the circumstances, but for also just getting through the season in one piece. I hate watching the TOP Players of 2013 show. When they show guys like K. Williams from Buffalo, just about every highlight is him sacking Tanne. Sucks.

"Too much. Too much ****ing perspective".

Tanny showed great maturity too. He never put it on guys, always talked positively about what they needed to do, work on, etc. I can't imagine the whining Cam Newton would have done under those conditions.

I don't know if it was the best acquisition but it was certainly the most needed in the NFL!

Exactly. There were many sacks where Tanny didn't have any outlet to run the ball because all four defenders beat their man. Best thing he could have done was throw it to the feet of his runningback or tight end.

I just meant the difference between Albert and Martin, that is a very large upgrade at a key position along the front, the large upgrade also has positive residual impact on the rest of the line.

couple that with the hope that James can be at least as good at RT as Clabo, and hopefully improve as the season goes along.
Keep saying, people have to be patient through the first few games before the bye. Our line could like equally as mediocre. but if Pouncey can come back and James can progress, we could have a very solid line in the 2nd half of the season. Just have to hope Tannehill can survive that long

What has to be done from a scheme perspective is the offensive coordinator has to know that with the youth on his oline that he needs to change the position of the pocket as much as possible, do not let the defense know where that pocket is going to be, even go as far as calling more moving pass plays than you usually would, apparently our last coordinator was to stupid to know that we sucked *** on the oline and that the pocket was jeopardized a lot of the times.

Let them think sh@& this dude might go right or left on any given play..

Also Tannehill has to be told that when he sees a clear lane with wide open space in front of him, to tuck and run..this will pay dividends later in the game..

Main concern about Branden Albert has to be health. Missed 9 games the last two seasons, 4 games in one and 5 games in another. His tape is uneven, looking very athletic in one game and then lumbering around in another game. That probably points to him dealing with injuries even when he is playing.

Best free agent acquisition in the league though? I don't know about that. He's one man on a five-man protection unit.

Anthony Collins and Jared Veldheer will be just as impactful as left tackle acquisitions...and both were significantly cheaper.

At other positions, DeMarcus Ware has the potential to be very impactful, as does Golden Tate. Darrelle Revis is going to be very high impact.

Even if he's not the best FA acquisition, even if he misses the usual 3-5 games he's still better then anything we could have gotten at a position we needed something. I liked veldheer a ton but he was coming off a major injury. We aren't in a position to take chances with the health of our young qb and philbin deserved a solid player after asking for something better then Martin and being denied that by the ginger

I prefer Upgrayedd. Two D's for a double dose of pimpin.

As for improvement, it's scary. Only if Pouncey comes back to full health, and even then it has the potential to be better, but also just as much potential to be terrible. 5 new starters, 4 when Pouncey comes back and he's a question mark.

Let's see how the coaches handle it and if they mesh.

Along the lines of "potential for disaster" consider this.

There are claims out there that Bill Lazor is going to bring over the principles of the Eagles offense. Despite the "talk" about wanting Tannehill to get the ball out quickly, the fact of the matter is the Eagles offense had their quarterback hold the football for the longest amount of time in the entire NFL last year. The average time to throw attempt for Eagles quarterbacks last year was two full standard deviations above league average. Thing is, it wasn't just a Nick Foles thing. Michael Vick held the football even longer. And BOTH quarterbacks held the football significantly longer in 2013 than they did in 2012.

So basically this offensive line full of new faces which could be anywhere from good to a disaster will be asked to protect the quarterback longer than the 2013 line was asked.

Give Bill Belichick a shutdown corner and see what kind of kinks he comes up with to get after the quarterback. That's my thinking on this one. And it doesn't help that in short spaces, Brandon Browner is also a shutdown kind of guy because his length and physicality erases players in the middle of the field.

Folks think Rex Ryan was a genius, man, Belicek with less space to cover with the other 10 guys..only another reason why I think the Qb needs to run the football more..

As ck points out and rightfully so, it certainly has potential for disaster or just a big let down, but it also certainly has the potential to live up to the title of the thread. I mean, an OL that just gave up the most sacks in the league signs, when healthy, a top pass blocking LT. We, obviously, won't really know until, at least, half way through the season. So, at this point, given our OL woes, it certainly has the potential to be the top acquisition. I bet Tanne has a little smile going on when he thinks about it.

Veldheer and anthony collins at LT and RT would of cost us 65 million. Brandon Albert cost us $54 million and we had to use a first round pick on a T. I would be happy to make that swap.

Undoubtedly, however could you convince both to make that swap to here? Looking at last season surely they just turn their noses up and go elsewhere?

Apparently there's no drop off potential then for a 29yr old CB coming off a big injury? I'm flipping it. Revis might actually become human again and actually be beatable. Lets see.

Revis tore his acl in 2012... In 2013 he was the best CB in the league. Why do you think he's about fall off in a Bill Belichick defense.

Well, it's really not "an OL that just gave up the most sacks in the league" anymore (good/bad/who knows?). None of those dudes will be starting, and there's a new OL coach/asst OL Coach/OC.

That's as different as you can get...NOT the same OL.

I'm going to be pretty interested in seeing some things in preseason in terms of play design and how long we're holding the ball.

If it's like it was in Philly last year, we could be in for a tough year. Philly had the best line in the league and that's a big part of why that worked.

On the other hand there's a lot of language coming out from Lazor about getting the ball out of the quarterback's hands more quickly. I could see that both ways. It could be such a big emphasis precisely BECAUSE of the offense's design requiring the ball to be held longer than is usual in the league. Sort of like, because we have such a deep focus and lots of play-action which means we hold onto the ball long, you have NO margin for error. You have to get that ball out. Or it could be that getting the ball out quick is as much of a focus for Lazor as it was previously with Sherman here, or even more, and that the Eagles holding the ball so long was purely a Chip Kelly or Pat Shurmur thing.

I'm just saying though, if it's the former and we're working with guys like Shelley Smith (biggest weakness is and has been pass pro), Dallas Thomas and two rookies...yikes.
