why I will avoid getting that iPhone for as long as possible. I can barely fit the iPhone5 in my front pocket and sit down as it is.

Consumers to Apple: "We like your stuff, that's why we buy so much of it."

Consumers to everyone else: "Your stuff sucks."

I guess that's why Android devices account for 78% of the market.

    Hmmm...

78% of sales, sure. Not 78% of usage.

Basically, people get Android devices and stick them in a drawer somewhere, because they basically have about 30% usage rates.

LMAO. So, according to you, people either pay hundreds OOP for a phone or buy a service plane—and then toss their money spent in a drawer because Apple is just THAT awesome?

That's a fat, juicy rationalization. Or fantasy.

According to the usage statistics, yes, people who buy Android devices generally are not using them—at least not as smartphones. Android mobile web use is below iOS mobile web use, for instance. Android apps generate less revenue for developers than iOS apps as well.

The only explanation for the data is that most people who buy Android devices use them as dumb devices—phone and text. When you look at the pricing of most Android devices, it makes sense. Customers in those price brackets are generally looking for basic services, phone and text. A lot of Android sales are probably generated by "free with 2 years of contract" offers as well. They aren't sold on the phone's features as a pocket computer, they're sold on it because it's cheap and it makes calls.
