I wanted the Fins to draft him when he came out. He's still young, so I like the signing. Give Matthews some competition for the 4th spot.

I don't think he has any TD returns in the pros but here are two at USC:

He only ran a 4.52 but...

Better be careful If he leaves the facility. He'll run right into traffic as opposed to the wide open sidewalk

he was an awesome high school receiver when gus malzahn was his coach. i remember him straight dominating every game i went to. malzahn had turned him and the qb (mitch mustain) into national top 5 high school prospects. man, time flies. malzahn became the o. coordinator at arkansas right after that.

maybe he'll be good enough to bring in for our redzone packages, at least sub in for Hartline who isn't much of a threat near the endzone.

That last clip above with the titans, that is a pretty impressive play as he gets his feet in at the back of the endzone there.

We need a WR who can make a play in the end zone.

Good signing! Young. Will play special teams. Has some size, hands, and I'm impressed by his field awareness and confidence going after the ball.

I think he and Matthews could be vying for the # 3 WR position given Gibson's questions ...

Yes, he showed he can go up and get after a ball and he showed sideline awareness .
More in one clip than Wallace showed all of last year.

I wasn't really a big fan coming out. Quick, but I thought his lack of physical presence would see him get lost in the shuffle too much.

I think Con was a big fan of his coming out. Perhaps he could give you some good info.

Good character, smart player, works hard, plays with passion. He's a good returner and solid #3 or 4 who can occasionally get behind defenses. I just wonder why he only got a 1-year deal, and I also wonder why the Titans let him walk. The only thing I can think of is... perhaps the new Titans staff simply didn't have him on their radar.

    Very good get for us.

IMO the Titans let him walk because he really wasn't that good, and that's the same reason Miami only did a 1 year deal. We're talking about career 7.2 yards per attempts which is low for a wide receiver, career 3.8 yards after catch which is also low, career 1.28 yards per pass snap...just highly unimpressive stuff. Best year he had pure production wise was 2011 and even in that year he only got 6.7 yards per attempt and 1.23 yards per pass snap.

Titans let him walk for the same reason they have seemed obsessed with collecting more receivers in the last couple of years (Kendall Wright 1st round, Justin Hunter 2nd round, signing UFA Dexter McCluster, keeping Nate Washington)...because what they had in Damian Williams wasn't really good enough.

Respectfully I'm going to have to disagree on that.

There's really no reason that play had to come down to a toe tap. Matt Hasselbeck did all of the work on the play and he didn't even throw the football high or anything. It was chest level and it should have been pitch and catch. Damian Williams jumped superfluously. Let me put it this way. If he'd NOT gotten his feet down in the end zone there, that play goes on a blooper reel for bad football plays that lose you games.

Kenny Britt was also a 1st round pick.

I think your criticism is (mostly) fair. Your stats don't lie. There seems to be some injury issues. That could have something to do with it. The Titans offense was run-oriented, and they haven't had very good QBs. So, there's that.

No one is expecting him to compete with anyone outside of Matthews... possibly Gibson... so we'll see how he works out. I think the guy has ability, and was a very good signing as a backup WR.

He'll compete for the 5th WR spot, assuming we keep 5. We all thought we would last year so who knows.

He's a fringe player right now IMO.

Lets not lose the fact he played on a run first team with a QB who has also struggled badly. I'm not saying he's the savior or even if he will make the team but I like the skill set enough to give him a look. Maybe the light turns on with a new team. Even if its as the returner or 4th/5th receiver.

Are we both referring to the YouTube video labeled "Crunch Time TD"?

If so then no, absolutely I'm not kidding. Damian Williams reversed field as part of the scramble drill and was wide open in the back of the end zone more because the defense forgot about him than because Damian was exerting any speed, agility or skill. He was open because the quarterback was able to extend the play and he had all the defense's eyes on him. It's tough rolling out to find the open man forgotten by the defense like that with pass rushers chasing you but Hasselbeck did and threw an easy pitch and catch dart at chest level right into Damian Williams' numbers.

For some reason, Williams chose to jump unnecessarily and catch the football with his groin rather than to catch it with his hands at chest level, and because of this he risked accidentally having one of his feet land out of bounds. And in fact that's very nearly what happened as one of his feet slipped backward. He came maybe an inch away from committing an error that would and should go on a blooper reel as a textbook play where a quarterback executes and a receiver lets him down.

Oh ok, you`re referring to the third video clip ( which I agree with you wholeheartedly, the jump was unnecessary). The 4th clip , which was the one the poster( brandon 27) was referring to , is the video I was asking about. Seemed like a damn good catch and toe tap.

The 43 yard touchdown pass annoys me. While that is a good athletic play, he fails football 101 by not only having the football in the wrong hand, but actively switching the ball into the wrong hand.

    LOL. Good point.

He's not a good RAC player. The YAC he got on that play actually propped up some of his YAC totals. They're still low but they should be even lower. On that play he did a good job making the first guy miss but the second guy had him dead to rights for a 7 yard gain and what should have been a punt. The defender took an atrocious angle though. Williams didn't make that guy miss nor did he outrun him with speed. The guy just decided to take himself out of the play.

I'm a Titans fan and I am sickened they didn't re-sign Williams. I actually thought he was better than Nate Washington. Very very reliable hands and i felt he should have started at least 1 year. A steal for the fins. Titan up!

Don't know much about him, but the singing can't hurt. Would be great if he could be a solid red zone target. But wasn't he kind of a disappointment in TN?

So will he also be our return guy? If he's just as good of a returner as Thiggy but a better decision maker than I am already madly in love w/ him.

When is say, "Go Thiggy, Go!!!" I mean it.

IMO, this is a nice under the radar signing. I liked him at USC. He was a very dependable receiver for the Trojans. He had some big games, notably the 2009 Rose Bowl, 10 catches, 160 plus yards. He's on the right side of 30, has experience at high levels and IMO is a much better receiver than a Marlon Moore. I like the angles we've taken in free agency, seemingly adding under 30 year old players, who can play and potentially get better with us if they have the want to.
