I'm a little surprised there's no thread for this game. It looks fantastic. Here's a refresher in case you need it: That gameplay demo is on a PS3, people. So, aside from the GTA-meets-AC style, it looks like this game takes place in the Assassin's Creed universe. For instance, one of the modern-day Templars in AC4 talks about going to Chicago to take care of a problem; Watch Dogs occurs in Chicago. AC4's director was asked straight up if Watch Dogs occurs in the AC universe and wouldn't deny it. I'm really excited for this game even without the AC link, but the AC link makes it all the more intriguing. Anyone else on board for this game?
I have been very excited about this since E3 2012, however it is disappointing the game has seemingly got worse visually since then. I was going to get it in ps4 because of the extra content, but I think I may opt for PC if it perform much better there.
I really doubt the PC is going to be affected by whatever downgrades or quality degradation is affecting the console versions. Ubisoft actually patched the PC version of AC4 after release to look even better than the console versions, not that the PC version didn't look better at launch. The game still seems pretty unique and interesting even if Aiden's coat is blurry.
I'm afraid it's going to play like an Assassin's Creed game. Don't get me wrong, I loved AC4. But because of the ship battles and ocean stuff (and Adwale's DLC was pretty awesome). The standard AC model is sooooo dry to me. I do agree the PC version of AC4 is ridiculously good looking. The way salt water crests over the deck of ship looks amazing. Even on PC4 you don't see that. Oh yeah, back to Watchdogs... My fear is that the missions and "sneak" structure is just like a modern day AC game. Which I will find terribly boring. I hope not because that trailer got me pumped.
My impression is that it's a more thoughtful, restrained GTA. The hacking looks really interesting to me.
When I first got the Xbox One, I watched a long trailer for this game and for whatever reason it didn't appeal to be. It looked tedious. I'm going to wait and see what the reviews are like.
What seems tedious about it? It's slower paced than your average third person action game, but so is Assassin's Creed.
I'll have to go watch the trailer again. I absolutely loved AC4, so it's not the pace. And back in the day, I loved Splinter Cell, which was extremely stealthy. So maybe my first impression of Watchdogs is unwarranted. Do you get to use a gun? I seem to remember it being all about hacking into systems.
Yes, you do get a gun. Watch this, particularly towards the end.
Thanks for the vid. I am going to check out a few more. I am still on the fence for some reason. Also, AC4 was the first AC game I've ever played, so I am going to probably miss a lot of the connections to it in Watchdogs.
AC4 is the only AC game that hints at Watch Dogs connections. For example, a guy in the background of the modern-day facility talking about going to Chicago to deal with a problem--Watch Dogs occurs in Chicago. There are also references to ctOS, which is the Chicago metropolitan OS that Aiden hacks in Watch Dogs. You won't miss anything.
Have you guys seen the PC requirements for this?? WOW Minimum: • OS: Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1) or Windows 8 (Please note that we only support 64 bit OSs.) • Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 @ 2.66Ghz or AMD Phenom II X4 940 @ 3.0Ghz • Memory: 6 GB RAM • Graphics: DirectX 11 graphics card with 1 GB Video RAM - Nvidia Geforce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon HD 5770 • DirectX: Version 11 • Hard Drive: 25 GB available space • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card with Latest Drivers Recommended: • OS: Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1) or Windows 8 (Please note that we •only support 64 bit OSs.) • Processor: Eight core - Intel Core i7-3770 @3.5 GHz or AMD FX-8350 X8 @ 4 GHz • Memory: 8 GB RAM • Graphics: DirectX 11 graphics card with 2 GB Video RAM - Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 ti or AMD Radeon HD 7850 • DirectX: Version 11 • Hard Drive: 25 GB available space • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card with Latest Drivers That's heavy. I have it all... But jeez. I will probably get this for PS4 anyways lol
Was leaning towards PS4, because I can get a $10 gift card with it, but those PC recommendations make me think that version will blow the consoles away.
Looks about right to me. Now that we have next-gen consoles and games made primarily with them in mind, minimum requirements on the PC side are going to go up.

Launching next Tuesday. GET HYPE
I have an i7-3770k quad @ 3.5 Ghz and a GTX 770. I hope that it can run this game in ultra and that my rig isn't getting to the point where it barely meets recommended settings.
I can't imagine Watch Dogs being more intensive than Assassin's Creed 4. AC4 rewarded good hardware and downgraded gracefully on older systems. Shame it didn't come out this Tuesday, I could have played the hell out of it this weekend.
I'm buying the game and won't watch the rest of his series, but he's got #1 up... looks really good so far though. I just hope that they don't inundate you with too much on screen notifications.
Ubi should make this the official Watch Dogs theme song.
he's rad too heh, he's pretty good, I wonder how much he makes by doing this and if it's a full time job for him? He gets advanced copies of every game probably so there's that perk too
yeah he gets paid from youtube on top of whatever perks he gets from hardware/software companies..... def a cool gig....
I played the first two story missions earlier tonight. + Plot so far is interesting, though a little clichéd. + Hacking is unique and a nice way to navigate challenges. + The stealth is phenomenal. + Skill trees. - I don't understand how to drive. Vehicles seem to go forward on their own… it doesn't make any sense. - Control scheme is pretty complex. - The world feels a little closed-in despite being a big city.
Ive played about the same. Went on a rampage though last night. U know target practice hehe. Much easier to keep going than GTA5. Plus there appears to be little to no penalty if u die. Your rep is restored to even. Explosions are nicer. I wonder what online play is like. Still getting used to the controls. I had no problem driving. Similar to rest of these types of games. The game is huge though in side missions.
I wish I could hack into your house via some form of something that would allow me to do so, so that way I could watch you slamming an apple pie like it is a drunken whore.......
I feel like this game is what would happen if Ubisoft made a modern day Assassin's Creed. I'm not too far in—I'm at the prison break mission—but there are some early signs that, yeah, this does take place in the AC universe. I find it really interesting that this occurs in September 2013—basically concurrently with the beginning of AC4. So far I've run into a couple of bugs, had to restart some missions, but nothing major. The graphical effects are really awesome on ultra, and thankfully I have a GTX 780 to run them. There is some stuttering as you transition from area to area, and I'm hoping that can be cleaned up. Right now I'd say if they never made another Saints Row game, Watch Dogs would become the #2 open world/sandbox game behind GTA. The overall world construction and graphical style even reminds me of Saints Row a little bit.
Spider Tank FTW!! Spoiler BTW, I've been hacked twice already (I suck, I know). I go right to the area where I'm supposed to look for them, can't find them... the search cone even shrinks to where I'm practically on top of it and nothing. I'm guessing there's some kind of bug... might have to turn the open hack feature off.
Ubisoft announces Watch Dogs has sold over 4 million copies in its first week. Well that explains all the Uplay issues.
