I got pulled over for failure to yield to a pedestrian. It was stupid because it was a sting. The cops had an officer walk across the street and pulled over everyone. I don't have $400 it's prob gonna cost and don't want the points on my licenses because my insurance will go up. I never got a ticket before and I was wondering is any of these excuses are valid. The first is the lack of a sign at the first crosswalk.
First off the cross walk is at a stupid spot. It's in heavy traffic but there is no sign saying their is a crosswalk at the first crosswalk.

The 2nd may be a reach but on my ticket he said my car was grey when it's gold/champaign so I was gonna argue is their is one error on the ticket, how can I be sure that the rest of the ticket is accurate

Any advice on what I can do or should do

Bite the bullet, spend the $300~ and get a lawyer. An attorney will almost always get you off.

Otherwise, it's the fine plus the insurance raise, which could add up to $ in the thousands. A conviction like that is the gift that keeps on giving.

interesting... I have no idea but can't you go to traffic school and it won't hit your record? That's the way it is here in CA, I believe, although I've only received one ticket my whole life and that may have changed. I've heard that if you fight it and go to court, there's a chance the officer doesn't show up. Although, in your case, since it was a sting, that would seem less likely as the officer may be at court that entire day. Is there any sign approaching the intersection (like within 1000 feet of it)... or just the one you have pictured?

I guess it's probably different for everyone but I got points on my license a few years ago for speeding and my insurance never went up.

Rip up the ticket. They can't do anything to you if you rip it up.

not that I saw. I may go back and check it again. I want to postpone the court for the very reason is he will most likely be there the day its scheduled but if I change it he may not show up.

I am hoping to get it pleaded down without lawyer and doing it myself. Worst case is I think I can go to traffic school and not get points.

If NV traffic law works like NY then always request a deposition when you send your ticket in.

If they don't send you one and the officer doesn't file one w the court, you can move for the charge to be dropped.

I did it last summer, paid nothing on what would of been around $300. **** the police

DO NOT REPRESENT YOURSELF IN COURT. I have a degree in CJ and I would not represent myself in court.

Hire a lawyer. A lot of times they do not get paid unless they win the case.

Wouldn't paying the lawyer far exceed the price of the ticket though?

do they have prayer for judgement in NV?

also, i would lawyer up. if you have a clean driving record, they can most likely get that reduced.

It could, but they will usually give an estimate based on probability of winning the case, and it is obviously your final say whether you hire them or not.

I'm gonna try the request for deposition or discovery thing, and try and postpone my case and hopefully work out a deal. I'm hoping worst case is I have to do traffic school

Discovery is the process where evidence can be obtained from the other side and is mandatory. Haven't you ever seen "My Cousin Vinny?"
