Miami - Cedric Ogbuehi, OT, Texas AM The Dolphins offensive line has been shaken up with the Incognito/Martin fiasco. Ogbuehi brings the upside to be a left tackle one day, but the versatility to play right tackle or guard as well. http://www.footballsfuture.com/2014/nflmockdraft.html
Cedric Ogbuehi is going to be a popular pick for the Dolphins at that spot in mock drafts, along with Taylor Lewan and perhaps Cyrus Kouandjio.
Ogbuehi immediately grabbed my attention when I looked at some film. I looked at this clip and within seconds it seemed to me that this is a LT playing RT because of Matthews. His feet and overall athleticism are outstanding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Icjr3eF-HpM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLZ3MJe9tKo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7fAD9SDesI After Matthews and Robinson he's one of the few guys I've looked at and though yeah, he's a LT.
He definitely needs work on his hands, but you're right his feet are tremendous. With guys like Morgan Moses and Greg Robinson I'm starting to question their feet, and that questionable feet status also partially applies to a Cyrus Kouandjio. But there's no questioning the feet of Jake Matthews, Billy Turner, Cedric Ogbuehi or Taylor Lewan. All of them have very active feet. They not only take a lot of steps per second, their foot movements are also very defined and demonstrative.
I disagree on Robinson and Lewan. I don't know what your issues are with Robinson's footwork as you alluded to the other day, but in my opinion the talent is there, hands down. Kouanddjio looks like a killer RT to me, Erving has good feet but I'm not sold on him overall, Turner has great feet, I like Hickey's feet, Matthews is brilliant- but Lewan... interesting case. hard not to think of Jake Long at that size and I like his run blocking, but I'm not sold on him as a LT. I don;t have a solid opinion at this point- with Jake Long I went against the grain and was thinking hell yes, this guy can play LT. Lewan- I'm not so sure, he's a tough one for me to judge. He has pretty good feet, but sometimes... look at 4:25 and 4:35 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k1mjmGSa80 Stands his man up, beat to the outside- I'm just pulling this up as an example. He's big, mean, nasty, pretty quick for a huge guy, fiercely run blocks. All good stuff, I just don't see a great athlete there, I'd describe him as a poor man's Jake Long. But- I do like him. If Antonio Richardson had even half of Lewan's passion and aggression... Lewan is a player who I would most definitely consider at #19. And if it turns out that he's better suited for RT, I'm fine with that. The bottom line is that he's an offensive lineman that I'd want playing for the Miami Dolphins. As an added bonus, it might take out a little of the sting of losing Jake Long in FA. Here's where the rubber meets the road- Lewan and Ogbuehi are sitting there at #19, who do I take? I LOVE Ogbuehi's feet. I see a solution to the LT dilemma there. Taylor Lewan is a good but not great athlete, a big nasty who works his *** off with a mean streak to boot- see :07 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k1mjmGSa80 The reality is that I would need to see more of each to make that call, especially Ogbuehi. I look at him and he reeks of Left Tackle. I look at Taylor Lewan and he reeks of a big, dominant, hard working and nasty OT that I want playing OT for the Dolphins, right side or left.
