Ross needs to read this and take it to heart. I'm not sure if his age has to do with his indecision on what to do next. We all know he is rich, but when did he make it? Was it 20 plus years ago when he that cut throat mentality? If he decides to keep Philbn, please Ross write this on index cards and give to Philbin, since this is the only way he can communicate with team.

“Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.”

“It is essential to understand that battles are primarily won in the hearts of men. Men respond to leadership in a most remarkable way and once you have won his heart, he will follow you anywhere.”

“Leadership is based on a spiritual quality --- the power to inspire, the power to inspire others to follow.”
“Having the capacity to lead is not enough. The leader must be willing to use it.”

“Leadership rests not only upon ability, not only upon capacity – having the capacity to lead is not enough. The leader must be willing to use it. His leadership is then based on truth and character. There must be truth in the purpose and will power in the character.”

“A leader must identify himself with the group, must back up the group, even at the risk of displeasing superiors. He must believe that the group wants from him a sense of approval. If this feeling prevails, production, discipline, morale will be high, and in return, you can demand the cooperation to promote the goals of the community.”

“Leadership is not just one quality, but rather a blend of many qualities; and while no one individual possesses all of the needed talents that go into leadership, each man can develop a combination to make him a leader.”
“No leader, however great, can long continue unless he wins battles. The battle decides all.”

    Vince Lombardi... :theman:

Stephen Ross is literally in the middle of the largest real estate development project in American history. I don't think his age is affecting him.

    Disagree

Leadership is natural. You either have it or you don't.

Can you teach leadership, to an extent. True leaders are followed by men because those men can sense it. People are followers.

Same as business owners. There are 2 types of people: those that own the business' and those that work for it

What do you mean by indecision? Just because social media operates at a 10 hour news cycle doesn't mean a $1B franchise needs to follow suit.

Its not like this team just suddenly spiraling down the drain. It's been 6 plus years we have been mediocre. The last 2 hasn't changed, and with all the crap went on this year. Ross should have a plan and execute it, doesn't take a rocket scientists to see where the problems are.

Still Ross needs to speak with whomever and decide what to do next? Come on' Man...

    The Illusion of Control

I don't disagree with the idea behind having leadership, but I think too often, we want to credit one person with being a "great leader" that "lead" the team to a championship, when in fact, there is only so much impact leadership can have. Everything else is dictated by chance and skill.

So Philbin comes in with his staff and his schemes and instantly Ireland is supposed to have all the players needed to go to the superbowl. Philbins 1rst year was what it was : Evaluation and make some adjustments which were done in the off season in the form of Bush, Burnette, Dansby, Long, Vonte and others. If anyone thinks Ireland just decided to make these changes without the nod or even request of Joe Philbin they are crazy. Simply not how it works!!!

Give me a break. We had the line put together(sort of). Was it perfect? No. Would we have been ok. Yes . Because this is Philbin's strong suit. His whole career just about he has been a line coach. So if we want to blame someone, blame Philbin. Had the scandel not happened and Martin worked his a$$ off like they thought was going to happen, we would have made the playoffs. No way Ireland's crystal ball would have known the Incognito scandel was going to happen. We missed the playoffs as a result. Hind sight being 20/20 it's easy to now claim as most of the poster's on here have that the dealing's with Long were messed up, way off base, irresponsible, etc Most of you were applauding not paying the guy 9 mill a year.

One also has to want to be lead. Otherwise, it doesn't work. It is why having the locker room behind you and "Buying into a system" is important. If for no other reason, for the psychological aspects
