Hope we sign him. We need to clear up the GM question mark ASAP so we can begin putting our personnel plan together on priority re-signings.

I hope he signs with the Dolphins but it is going to come down to who will pay him the most, since this will be the last big contract he will sign based on his age.

He has only played one season in Miami, so I don't think he has the same desire to remain here as a player who has played for a number of years for the same team. I give the odds at 50-50 right now that he will be a member of the Dolphins when the 2014 season starts.

Brent will get a payday. Wherever he lands. And he's earned it.

I want to keep him. However, I don't want some insane contract tied to him either.

Resign Grimes, let go of Clemons, sign or draft a more playmaking safety, let the kids we drafted prove they can play, cut Patterson, only resign Carroll if he is cheap. Thats what i want from our secondary.

Well, at least something positive today. Glad he wants to stay, hopefully we can keep him. He was really good for us this year. Really, really good IMO.

I hope he stays. However, Reggie Bush wanted to stay and he never got a call from the team (apparently). If this situation goes like that one did, the team will decide they have seen enough from the two rookies to jettison all their experienced corners.

I hope they sign Grimes and I also hope they get Patterson to stay at a discount with incentives based on playing time. People need to be rewarded for performing.

Assuming we don't retain him, we need to retain Patterson despite his injuries. With Grimes you have the option of releasing or testing the trade market with Patterson and his salary

I don't trust Patterson because he doesn't seem to be able to stay healthy. Yet I agree that he would have to be kept if Grimes does sign elsewhere. Especially when it appears that Taylor and Davis are not going to be any help at the CB position for the Dolphins.

If we get a new GM I think we'll keep him. Ireland is such a wild-card that who knows what he will do. He is making big bucks and is SO Dysfunctional!!!

But, we can also franchise Grimes and he'd make about what one would make on a yearly basis. I think we should have a shot at signing him before free agency hits if we also dangle the franchise tag as a possibility.

Reggie bush didnt perform even slightly close to Grimes. Its a night and day comparison at their respective positions. With RBs We had some behind bush that "seemed" like they might be able to get comparable production... I agreed with it at the time, and it was a mistake in retrospect, However, there isn't anyone in our secondary that could hold a candle to grimes. I pray we resign this guy. He is an animal

Yup. That's the whole point of the one-year 'bet on yourself' contract.

But man, could you imagine this year's defense without Brent Grimes? I shudder.

If that's the case, he should be back.

His wife sits in front of my parents at the games. For my 30th birthday, my mother asked her if she could get Brent to sign a shirt for me. She said she'd bring it to practice and many of the players signed it (which was very nice of her). When she was giving the shirt to her, my mother told her she hopes to see her next year (implying that she hoped we sign him) and his wife responded "me too."

If we don't keep him, Sam Shields would be a lovely replacement. We should sign both of them really.

In other free agent news, Jaguars are letting MJD test the market this offseason. Feel like he'll return there though.
